Protection switch device, for example, a contactor/circuit-breaker, having at least one set of separable contacts (or pole), comprising firstly an actuator mechanism (5) adapted to open and close the contacts (21, 31) and adapted to be operated by protection means (4) in response to an electrical fault and secondly a manual actuator knob (6) operating a solenoid (7) for manoeuvring the contacts, characterised in that it includes a movable flap (11) for opening and closing an aperture of the housing to enable the coil of the solenoid (7) to be changed and in that said flap (81) cooperates with a flap locking member (81) movable between a closed position in which it immobilises the flap on the housing in a closed position and an open position enabling opening of the flap, said flap locking member (81) being associated with selectively operable locking means (82, 62) adapted to immobilise it in the closed position when the manual actuator knob (6) occupies any position other than the off position and to release it so that a user can move it to the open position enabling opening of the flap when the manual actuator knob (6) is in the off position.
  2. Device according to claim 1 characterised in that the flap locking member (81) is a latch movable in translation parallel to the axis of the actuator knob (6) and in that a locking slide member (82) prevents movement of said latch if the actuator knob occupies any position no other than the off position and is adapted to enter the actuator knob when the latter is in the off position to enable movement of the latch (81).
  3. Device according to either of the preceding claims characterised in that the actuator knob (6) has a profile enabling movement of the locking slide member (82) in the off position of the device.
  4. Device according to any one of the preceding claims characterised in that the flap latch (81) oscillates about an axis (84) and carries locking means (82) cooperating with the manual actuator knob (6).
