Abstract

Pillow made up of two parts, one of which is an interchangeable element which allows individual adaptability by a specific support of the occipito-cervical area of the user. The actual pillow consists of two square or rectangular juxtaposed compartments, accepting the various conventional materials (natural or synthetic); they have the same size but a different density; the interchangeable elastic element of cylindrical shape which forms the contact and the support for the neck is inserted between these two compartments. It is placed and fastened in the front and transverse part of the pillow. The pillow can be adjusted by the user by virtue of the choice of cylinders available (in diameter and density); in order to refine this adjustment, the user can then choose from one of the two possible supporting faces (more dense or less dense). Regardless of which face is chosen, the prepositioned cylinder always fits the cervical contact surface; this arrangement makes it possible to use the weight of the head in order to truly ''mould'' the neck of the user on the cylinder.

Description

Oreiller composé de deux parties permettant une adaptabilité individuelle pour chaque utilisateur (voir le document GB-A-2 134 383).Pillow composed of two parts allowing individual adaptability for each user (see document GB-A-2 134 383).

The present invention relates to a new pillow design adaptable, both to the morphology and to the comfort desired by its user. Its use follows two principles, on the one hand, respect for the shape and external appearance of standard and classic pillows on the market; and on the other hand adaptability by specific support of the occipito-cervical region of the user regardless of their morphological type, thanks to an interchangeable element.

In contrast to the many types of pillows which have already been described and marketed, the present invention differs completely from its predecessors first of all by its original concept.

The applicant has considered with particular attention the problem of the shape and the external appearance of the pillow compatible with the principle of adaptability to different morphological types of individuals.

This is why its shape is apparently classic, square or rectangular, as well as its consistency, which can vary depending on its content (feathers - cellulose wadding - or related polyurethane). He can therefore benefit from a covering with standard commercial pillowcases.

The present invention therefore relates to a pillow intended to improve the personal comfort of each user, of the type constituted by two juxtaposed compartments, connected, equivalent and deformable, providing space between them, characterized in that, at the front from said space, there is arranged a cervical support system adaptable in diameter and density, of the "rod" or "bar" type, which is elastic in nature and is immobilized transversely.

According to a preferred embodiment, the interchangeable tubes can have a diameter ranging from 6 to 14 cm and a density which can vary from 18 to 30 kg of pressure per cubic meter and, likewise, they can have a length corresponding to that of the '' pillow (60 to 65 cm), decreased from 8 to 16 cm.

According to a first construction variant, the compartments of the pillow on the one hand and the flanges on the other hand can be provided with a fixing system, in particular self-gripping, lateral or central, providing the user with support permanent of its occipito-cervical region by the tube thus immobilized transversely.

According to another variant of construction, the compartments of the pillow can be connected by a transverse seam, thus providing a smaller anterior space allowing the immobilization of the rod.

According to always a preferred embodiment, the two juxtaposed compartments constituting the pillow itself can be of different densities, allowing the user an even more precise selection of his cervical comfort, the intensity of the cervical support by the transverse rod being more or less perceived depending on whether the user chooses the densest or least dense upper compartment.
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the pillow according to the invention, mounted, consisting of two juxtaposed compartments and a rod immobilized transversely in the front part of the space existing between these two compartments,
  • Figure 2 (Figures 2/1 to 2/4) illustrates the possibility of integrating into the pillow of Figure 1, at the choice of its user, that of the tubes which is more particularly adapted to it in diameter and density,
  • Figure 3/1 shows schematically the fitting of the appropriate tube between the two compartments forming the envelope of the pillow, and
  • Figure 3/2 is a side view illustrating the mode of use of the pillow according to the invention.

The pillow itself is made of two compartments made of traditional materials, juxtaposed, deformable, connected and of identical size leaving space between them.

It is important to note that these two compartments both have a soft filling of the same nature (CONFOREL type), but of different density; (Fig. 3 A and B) for example 250 grs for one and 400 grs for the other. This characteristic is taken advantage of during the individual adjustment provided by the cervical support element.

It is in the space that we previously mentioned that we introduce the second essential part of the pillow which is the element of cervical support. This element is of cylindrical shape (Fig. 2) assimilated to a bar or a "rod" which is elastic in nature. This support element is immobilized transversely in the anterior part of the space created, by a hook-and-loop system, velcro type or by a transverse seam connecting the two compartments.

The flange is therefore easy to remove and position.

The adaptability characteristic of the pillow is linked to this elastic tube which is interchangeable (Fig. 3/1); the various cylinders accompanying the deformable part have a length of 50 to 55 cm corresponding to the width of the pillow reduced by 8 to 16 cm. They have diameters ranging from 6 to 14 cm and a density that can vary from 18 to 30 kg of pressure per cubic meter. Their elastic structure and shape conform to the cervical curvature of the user (Fig. 3/2) who selects the model of their choice.

The originality of the process lies both in the ability to modify the support of the neck by interchangeable tubes and in the fact that the user can select the latter himself.

Once the roll has been chosen, the user can also opt for more or less intense cervical support depending on the positioning of the pillow. Either he places the light compartment under his neck (250 grs), and the perception of support is then firmer, or he chooses the denser compartment (400 grs), and the support is then softer.

As a rule, the choice of cylinder is governed by two main parameters:
  • the first is "objective"; it is a function of the morphology of the individual; in other words, dictated by the amplitudes of its vertebral curvatures; these will decide the diameter of the cylinder to use. The greater the cervical curvature in degrees, the greater the diameter retained and vice versa.
  • the second is "subjective" and responds to the concept of comfort; it relates to the elasticity and hardness of the cylinder. As a rule, the choice is governed by the intensity of the tone and the muscle stiffness of the subject. In practice, the successive test of different cylinders (Fig. 2) leads to optimal comfort, the purpose of the process.

Once the choice has been made, the introduction of the sausage into the front part of the main room (Fig. 1) makes it possible to fully respect the appearance of conventional pillows. This process therefore authorizes the installation of standard pillowcases in the possession of the purchaser.

Several rolls accompany the deformable part of the pillow, this set constitutes a real kit.
