Abstract

Anatomic pillow, whose profiles mentioned below and multiple variants, consists of a flat base, of a rounded front zone which serves as a support for the back of the neck, of a rear zone which is connected to the front zone, serves as a support for the head. This pillow consists of a mass of polyurethane (polyether) foam having at least one cavity in which there are placed either polystyrene balls, or fibre, or granules.

Description

 The present invention relates to an anatomical pillow whose design has been particularly studied to relieve pain in the cervical or muscular vertebrae.

 It is known and recognized that the so-called "traditional" pillows are not satisfactory for people suffering from osteoarthritis, the neck and the base of the skull not being supported with equal pressure. In this part of the body where a large number of motor and sensitive nerves are channeled, unevenly distributed support pressure is one of the causes that can cause significant pain.

 The purpose of this new invention is to avoid these major drawbacks, and this is why this pillow of new design is able to provide the user with a position for maintaining the neck and the head in better conditions.

The invention also aims to have a pillow that can adapt to all body types, knowing that these may be different from one person to another. The sttjc- ture of this pillow also allows it to adapt very suitably to people of different size. It is its conception of a completely new type which gives it these qualities and eliminates all the drawbacks caused by pillows which cannot ensure satisfactory neck support.

 The invention of this new anatomical pillow has its interest in the fact that it is constituted by the assembly of different materials which gives it all the qualities a person needs when lying down. The characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear on reading the accompanying drawings.

The forms given by way of example are indicative and above all in no way limitative. Figures I and II show the pillow in the support position of the neck and the head of a person on the back. Figures III and IV are cross sections of some of the multiple achievable shapes.

 Referring to FIG. III, it can be seen that the pillow of the invention consists in broad outline of a flat base, mark 1, of a rounded front zone of the greatest thickness, mark 2, in the mass of this rounding, a reference cavity 3; an upper median zone made up of a rounding, item 4, under this rounding a cavity of any shape, item 5. The rear area, of thickness less than the front area, is made up of a square part at the base, item 8 and a flat part, parallel to the base and connected with the round 4, item 9. .  Referring to FIG. IV, it can be seen that the pillow of the invention consists of part of the shape and of various elements of FIG. III. In particular, from the same base, mark 1, from the same front zone, mark 2, from the cavity, mark 3, from the middle zone, mark 4, from the same cover, mark 10, and from the same polystyrene balls, landmark.

 Only the rear area is different. This rear zone, of FIG. IV, is made up of a rounding, mark 43, of thickness equal to or less than the rounding of the front zone which connects to the middle zone, mark 4 and the base, mark 1.

The material in which the different shapes are made is an expanded polymer having in its mass one or more cavities of geometric or any shape. These cavities can be through or not through. In these cavities are placed granules or fibers, or balls of different or equal diameters whether or not wrapped in a cover.

 Given the multiple possible compositions, that which gives complete satisfaction is that composed of polyurethane foam for the forms of polystyrene beads for the beads placed in one or more cavities, of fabrics for the covers enveloping the polystyrene beads and the pillow.
