Description

The invention relates to a device for cutting through, cutting, perforating or perforating sheet material, such as paper, metal foils or plastic foils, in particular label material located on a carrier material which is not to be affected, by means of a cutting disk which can be releasably coaxially clamped between an abutment disk and a pressure disk, the outside diameter of which is somewhat is larger than the outer diameter of the abutment disc and the pressure disc, the cutting disc being so thin that the cutting or perforating work is to be carried out with its peripheral surface. Such a device is known from DE-A-4.006.611.

In another device of this type known from DE-A-30 13 098, the cutting disc is provided on its periphery with a cutting edge which is subjected to considerable wear during cutting work or perforation work, which leads to increasingly blurred cutting edges or perforation edges in the Sheet material leads, so that the cutting disc must be replaced relatively often.

The object of the invention is to provide a device of the type mentioned, the cutting disc is less susceptible to wear.

To achieve this object, the device is characterized in that the cutting disc has a peripheral surface, the cross section of which is substantially symmetrical to the central plane of the cutting disc and is rounded in its apex region, and that straight flanks are to be striven towards the apex region from the side surfaces of the cutting disc to lead.

In solving this problem, the invention was based on the finding that a cutting disc with a rounded circumferential surface can perform excellent cutting work and perforating work, and is relatively susceptible to wear is, even after wear, can still perform a uniformly clean cutting or perforating work if it has only a sufficient thickness, which is achieved in that it has straight flanks to be strived for from side surfaces of the cutting disc.

It is preferred that the circumferential surface runs from the beginning, that is before the first use of the cutting disc, in cross section essentially symmetrically to the central plane of the cutting disc and is rounded in the apex area.

Because of the small thickness of the cutting disk, it is preferred that the outside diameter of the cutting disk is 0.50 mm to 0.70 mm, preferably 0.55 mm to 0.65 mm, larger than the outside diameter of the abutment disk or the pressure disk depending on the which this outer diameter is the larger, so that the circumferential surface performing the cutting work or the perforating work is reliably guided during its work.

Particularly for cutting through label material on a carrier material, but also in other cases, it has been found that the thickness of the cutting disc is 0.08 mm to 0.19 mm, preferably 0.1 to 0.17 mm.

The cutting disc is preferably made of carbon steel or chrome steel.

It has been found that the cutting disc works particularly reliably when the sheet material to be cut or perforated is supported on the side facing away from the cutting disc by a rotatably mounted abutment roller.

The peripheral surface - if not the entire body - of the abutment roller is preferably made of hardened steel.

A particularly economical method for producing the cutting disks discussed, even if they do not meet the stated requirement for their thickness, is claimed in claim 7.

For the production of perforation discs, the round-ground, etched, washed and dried grinding discs are placed as a package directly next to one another on a shaft and clamped together on the shaft and then in the package in the circumferential area axial grooves with a depth of 0.20 mm to 0.25 mm, preferably 0.21 mm to 0.24 mm, ground or milled.

The invention is described below using exemplary embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings.

Device for cutting through, scoring or perforating sheet material such as paper, metal foils or plastics films, in particular label material on a substrate material which must not be damaged, by means of a cutting disc (6) to be clamped detachably and coaxially between an abutment disc (2) and a pressing disc (4), its outside diameter (D6) being slightly larger than the outside diameter (D2 or D4) of the abutment disc (2) and the pressing disc (4), characterised in that the cutting disc (6) is so thin that the cutting or perforating work can be performed with its peripheral surface (30).
  2. Device according to claim 1, characterised in that the peripheral surface (30) runs essentially symmetrically with the centre plane (32) of the cutting disc (6) in the cross-section and is rounded in the apex area (34)
  3. Device according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the outside diameter (D6) of the cutting disc (6) is 0.50 mm to 0.70 mm, preferably 0.55 to 0.65 mm, larger than the outside diameter (D2 or D4) of the abutment disc (2) or the pressing disc (4) depending on which of these outside diameters (D2 or D4) is the larger.
  4. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the thickness of the cutting disc (6) is 0.08 to 0.19 mm, preferably 0.1 to 0.17 mm.
  5. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the cutting disc (6) is made of carbon steel or chromium steel.
  6. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the sheet material is supported on the side of a pivoted abutment roller (44) facing away from the cutting disc (6).
  7. Device according to claim 6, characterised in that the peripheral surface of the abutment roller (44) is made of hardened steel.
  8. Method for the production of annular cutting discs (6), in particular for a device according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that blanks (52) of the annular cutting discs (6) are punched out of a metal sheet, that a large number of these blanks (52) are then placed immediately adjacent to each other as a pack on a shaft, clamped together on the shaft and cylindrically ground as a pack while the shaft is turned, that the cylindrically ground cutting discs are then conveyed individually and horizontally through an etching device (50), in which they are sprayed with etching solution from above and below, and that the cylindrically ground and etched cutting discs are then washed and dried.
