Description

The invention relates to a leveling door for sealing the leveling opening of a coke oven door, in which a flexible sealing element can be pressed against a sealing surface surrounding the leveling opening.

During the final phase of the filling process of the furnace chambers of coke oven batteries, it is necessary to even out the amount of coal in the furnace chamber that is filled. This is done with the help of the leveling bar arranged on the coke pushing machine. In order to be able to insert it into the furnace chamber and to move it back and forth, a leveling opening is provided in the coke oven door on the machine side in the area of the gas collecting space, which is closed with a leveling door as soon as the leveling rod has been removed from the furnace chamber. So that the gaseous products formed during the coking process cannot escape in an uncontrolled manner, it must be ensured that the leveling opening is sealed sufficiently tightly by the leveling door.

In older bulldozer door constructions, the necessary sealing was carried out with the help of so-called hammer blow strips, which are fastened to the edges of the door body by means of clamping screws and were brought into contact with hammer seals on a sealing surface surrounding the bulldozer opening. This sealing principle, often referred to as "iron on iron", is extremely maintenance-intensive and is not always satisfactory with regard to its sealing effect. It only works reasonably flawless if, on the one hand, the sealing surfaces are kept carefully clean and, on the other hand, the temperature of the seal permits the formation of sufficient quantities of tar condensates on the sealing surfaces as a conclusion.

The flexible sealing edge of this closure element is pressed against the sealing surface surrounding the leveling opening by a force acting in the middle. The disadvantage of this construction can be seen in the fact that on the one hand the production of such a cup-shaped closure element is relatively expensive and on the other hand it is not possible to adequately adapt to different conditions at the sealing edge or the sealing surface due to the force acting only in the middle.

GB-A-2051851 offenbart eine Planiertür, bei der ein Dichtrahmen mittels Federelementen an den Türrahmen gepreßt wird.GB-A-2051851 discloses a leveling door in which a sealing frame is pressed onto the door frame by means of spring elements.

The aim of the present invention is therefore to provide a leveling door which has a highly elastic sealing system, by means of which all unevenness in the sealing surface surrounding the leveling opening, which is to be expected during operation of the coke oven battery, can be compensated for independently. The leveling door according to the invention is intended to ensure permanent sealing of the leveling opening even when the opening and closing process is actuated automatically, and it is also intended to be distinguished by the simplest possible, inexpensive and maintenance-friendly construction.

The leveling door of the type mentioned at the outset which is used to achieve this object is characterized according to the invention by combining the following features:
  • a) that a diaphragm sheet made of stainless steel covering the entire leveling opening is fastened to a cast-iron or wrought-iron leveling door body on the side facing the leveling opening and has a circumferential sealing frame at its edges,
  • b) that spring-loaded pressure elements act on the sealing frame and are distributed over the entire circumference of the sealing frame,
  • c) that the pressing elements are fastened to the leveling door body with plug pins,
    and
  • d) that an exchangeable heat protection shield is arranged on the side facing the leveling opening in front of the membrane sheet.

Further details of the construction according to the invention result from the present subclaims and are to be explained below on the basis of the exemplary embodiment shown in the figure. The figure shows a side view of the leveling door according to the invention, the upper half being shown as a longitudinal section.

In the embodiment shown in the figure, the cast or wrought-iron leveling door body 1 is fastened at its upper end via the joint 2 to the coke oven door body 3 so that it can pivot upwards. Of course, the leveling door body 1 can in practice also in the manner Coke oven door body 3 are attached so that it is pivotable to the side or down. On the side facing the leveling opening 15, the membrane sheet 4 covering the entire leveling opening 15 and the heat protection shield 5 are fastened to the leveling door body 1. The membrane sheet 4 is made of highly elastic stainless steel and has a thickness between 1.5 and 3.0 mm. The membrane sheet 4 and the heat shield 5 are fastened in the present exemplary embodiment in the middle of the leveling door body 1 via the screw connections 16, the plug sleeves 17 ensuring a sufficient distance between the membrane sheet 4 and the heat shield 5, so that the elasticity of the membrane sheet 4 is not impaired becomes. The type of attachment of membrane sheet 4 and heat shield 5 shown allows, if necessary, a quick and easy replacement of both parts. At the edges, the membrane sheet 4 has a circumferential sealing frame 8 which is screwed onto the membrane sheet 4. The sealing frame 8 can in this case be composed of four sealing strips 9 surrounding the four sides of the membrane sheet 4, which are welded to form a continuous frame. As can be seen from the figure, the sealing strips 9 of the sealing frame 8 should rest completely on the sealing surface 18 surrounding the leveling opening 15 when the leveling door is closed, in order to ensure the required sealing effect. The contact pressure required for this is provided by the spring-loaded pressing elements 10, which are distributed over the entire circumference of the sealing frame 8. Several pressing elements 10 can be combined into a unit via the connecting plate 19 and fastened to the leveling door body 1 via plug pins 11. This fastening system enables the force of the spring elements 12 to be set precisely, via the Tappet 13 act on the sealing strips 9 of the sealing frame 8. In order to prevent a possible overstretching of the membrane sheet 4 by the spring elements 12, the deflection of the membrane sheet 4 is limited by a corresponding adjustment of the lock nuts 14 at the ends of the tappets 13. In the present exemplary embodiment, the closed leveling door is locked by means of the lever 6, which presses against the sash 7 attached to the coke oven door body 3. Of course, another locking mechanism can also be used here.

The leveling door according to the invention ensures a good seal against coking plant raw gas emissions under all operating conditions. The door is also characterized by a simple, weight-saving and, at the same time, maintenance-friendly design with high operational reliability.
