Description

The invention relates to a method for separating textile areas from a stack and also relates to an apparatus for carrying out the method (see BE-A-846 649).

In the production of knitwear such as sweaters on flat knitting machines (System Cotton), it is necessary to produce the ribbed edges or cuffs on a separate flat or circular knitting machine and to hand them over to the knitting machine. Ribbed edges are usually double-sided knitwear that can only be produced on machines with two opposite needle contours. As is known, knitting machines work with a row of needles and therefore produce single-surface knitted fabrics.

The ribbed edges are needled on a comb with their last knitted course. H. the loop of each stitch in the last knitted course hangs on a needle. The needles of the comb are put together with the knitting needles of the knitting machine and the stitches are slipped onto them. The knitting machine then continues knitting from this transferred row of stitches.

In practice, however, not only a rib edge is arranged on the comb, since a separate comb would otherwise be required for each rib edge. On the other hand several of the rib edges pushed onto a comb and then transferred transfer rakes assigned by this magazine rake, also called push-up rake, to the individual knitting points (fonts) in the knitting machine while the knitting machine was still working on a knitted piece.

After the knitting process has been completed, the rib edges on the transfer rake are transferred to all knitting lines on the knitting needles of the machine for a new piece of knitting.

Passing the rip edges from the rake rake to the machine's transfer rake is a manual operation that takes a relatively long time. Automation of the edge handover has so far failed due to the fact that no method for separating the rib edges on the opening rake was available which allowed only the front rib edge of a stack of edges to be gripped and transferred to the transfer rake.

The difficulty in separating the rib edges needled as a stack on a rake consists essentially in the fact that the free edges of the rib edges are largely undefined in their position, i. H. they can be wavy, fold in one direction, the rib edges overlap like scales, and the corners of the rib edges can also contract. These shortcomings mentioned hinder the separation from the free edge, since no cutting edge can be inserted between the rib edges. It is not feasible to separate from the impact rake side insofar as the edges are too close together, which makes it difficult to grasp only one edge with a separating comb.

The object of the invention is to provide, with regard to automation, a mechanical and functionally reliable method for separating textile surfaces from a stack and a device for carrying out the method.

This object is achieved by the method and by the device with the features of claims 1 and 4. Advantageous refinements of the invention result from the subclaims.

Rib edges 1 for the production of knitwear on flat knitting machines (System Cotton) are needled as a stack on needles 2 of a push-up rake 2a. The needles 2 have a U-shaped cross section and the open side faces away from the rib edges.

The tips of the needles 2 of the push-up rake 2a are overlapped with the tips of the needles 3 of a transfer rake 3a of the flat-knitting machine, the tips of the respective needles dipping into the U-shaped pocket of the opposing needles, so that the stitch surrounding the needle shaft is pushed over by one Needle on the other becomes possible.

After the needles 2 of the pushing rake 2a and the needles 3 of the transfer rake 3a have been folded together, boards 4 arranged on a carrier 4a in a row corresponding to the needle grid are moved between the needles 2, 3 against the stack of rib edges 1.

The boards 4 are provided with leading edges 5 and 5a and with an open space 6 which extends from them and is open at the edge. On the circuit boards 4 there is also a piercing tip 7 formed by the leading edge 5 and the boundary edge of the free space 6.

(Figur 3a-c)With the movement of the plates 4 against the stack of rib edges 1, these are moved and pressed together by the leading edges 5, 5a of the plates 4 against a stop 8 extending behind the stack of rib edges 1 over the entire length of the opening rake 2a. The foremost rib edge 1 is aligned in the longitudinal direction and, due to the inner elasticity of the rib edge 1 in the free space 6 of the plates 4, a wave 1a is formed in the surface of the rib edge 1. By advancing the plates 4 against the shaft 1a, the piercing tip 7 now penetrates into the shaft edge. (Figure 3a-c)

The small width of the free space ensures that only the foremost rib edge 1 of the stack bulges into the free space 6 and thus a single rib edge 1 is always received by the piercing tips 7 of the plates 4.

(Figur 3d)After the piercing tips 7 are inserted, the rib edge 1 is stretched between them and the needles 2 of the opening rake 2a and the sinkers 4 move away from the stack of rib edge 1 and pull the gripped rib edge 1 off the stack, the rib edge 1 on the needles 2 in Direction of the needles 3 of the transfer rake 3a slides while maintaining the tension. (Figure 3d)

(Figur 3e)After a defined distance from the stack of the rib edges 1, the sinkers 4 move out of the edge of the rib edges 1 against their piercing direction until their head edges have reached a position under the pushing needles 2. (Figure 3e)

(Figur 3f)The boards 4 now travel again in the direction of the stack of the rib edges 1 to below the gap between the stack and the separated rib edge 1, in order to then dip their head part into this gap, because of the functional reliability only so far between the needles 2 of the push-up rake 2a that the piercing tips 7 do not reach the area of the edge stitches of the rib edge 1. (Figure 3f)

(Figur 3g)With the back of the sinkers 4, the rib edge 1 is shifted by a movement of the sinkers 4 in the direction of the transfer rake 3a, slides over the needles 2, 3 to a defined position on the transfer rake 3a. (Figure 3g)

(Figur 3h)This is followed by the separation of the push-on needles 2 from the transfer needles 3 and by means of a deflecting element 9, which can be a bar, a rod or a tube provided with a row of nozzles, the transferred rib edge 1 is folded away from the needles 3 of the transfer rake 3a to prevent snagging on the needles 3 of the transmission rake 3a. (Figure 3h)

As the stack of rib edges 1 decreases, its springing properties inevitably change, and the last rib edge of a stack would hardly have any spring travel when resting against a fixed stop. However, this is necessary in order to be able to offer the rib edge 1 relatively uniformly to the piercing tips 7 of the circuit board 4 over its entire length. The rib edges 1 have slightly thickened vertical edge areas due to their manufacturing process, which, in the absence of spring travel, leads to the plates 4 pressing into the edge via this edge area, while this pressing is not ensured in the central zone. To prevent this, the stop 8, on which the stack of rib edges 1 is supported, is formed from an elastic material, into which the thickened edges of the rib edge 1 are somewhat pressed.

Vorzugsweise ist das Magazin mit zwei diametral angeordneten Halterungen 14, 15 mit zugehörigen Klemmelementen ausgerüstet, die durch eine Drehbewegung um eine Achse 16 wechselweise zum Einsatz gelangen.FIG. 4 shows a transfer vehicle which can be moved via rollers 11 and tracks 12 and can be positioned in front of the individual knitting points of a flat-knitting machine arranged in a row. In the carriage 10 there is a magazine 13 for receiving the pushing rake 2a. The magazine 13 can between an initial position and a transfer position for guiding together the needles 2 of the opening rake 2a and the needles 3 of the transmission rake 3a. The magazine is preferably equipped with two diametrically arranged brackets 14, 15 with associated clamping elements, which are used alternately by a rotary movement about an axis 16.

The two levers 17 and 18 for generating the movement of the plates 5 about pivot points 19 and 20 are actuated by two independent drives, not shown.

After deduction of the last rib edge 1 from the opening rake 2a, which is controlled by a light barrier, a full rake swivels in the working position and in the parking position of the carriage 10, which is located outside of the knitting points, the empty opening rake is loaded by the machine operator against one with the rib edges 1 new rake rake 2a replaced.

The invention is not limited to the separation of rib edges 1 which have been needled onto push-up rakes 2a. The method can also be used for gripping any textile surface. In this case, the boards 4 can work in opposite directions to form a gap in several gripping modules.

Furthermore, the invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiment shown and described, but rather permits numerous modifications. The functions of separating and slipping on can be carried out with separate elements or the geometric position of the functional elements can be selected differently.
