Description

The invention relates to a dental patient chair with adjustable headrest, which is pivotally articulated about a transverse axis on a sword adjustable in the longitudinal direction of the backrest, the transverse axis with the articulated axis of an arranged on the headrest and loaded by means of actuating means with a tensile or compressive force and so the pivotability of the headrest-causing rod forms a lever arm.

A dental treatment chair is designed - taking ergonomic knowledge into account - in an effort to adapt the movement of the headrest of a dental treatment chair to the natural pitching movement that the head of a patient in the treatment chair performs when it is brought into different treatment positions. This is particularly difficult to do for the two extreme positions, namely on the one hand for the extreme 'extension position', in which the head and thus the head restraint should be tilted backwards vis-à-vis the patient for an upper jaw treatment with a direct view of the patient and on the other hand for the ' Prosthetic position ', in which the head should be tilted so far forward when the backrest is in an upright position until a horizontal occlusal plane is reached.

From US-A-45 15 406 a construction is known in which a sword carrying the headrest is designed as a circularly curved narrow plate which contains a center of circle which lies approximately in the cervical vertebrae of a patient sitting in the chair. The curved plate is guided in a slot that can be adjusted along the backrest and can can be extended and retracted from the slide or from the backrest using a hydraulic drive.

Although this construction proves to be physiologically favorable and permits a relatively narrow (thin) headrest design, this arrangement has disadvantages. The angle of movement of the headrest is severely restricted due to the sword guide; in addition, a relatively strong mechanical structure is required in the upper backrest part. Any attempt to make the backrest thinner in this area, which is desirable in order to be able to position the patient's head as deeply as possible in the full position, but still have sufficient knee room for the practitioner, would further restrict the kinematics in this construction and thus the positioning possibility for the patient's head. Another disadvantage is that adaptation to relatively large patients is only possible to a limited extent; very large patients find no support in the neck area with this arrangement.

In another known construction (DE-36 11 282), the headrest is also only adjustable to a limited extent; in particular, the two extreme positions mentioned at the beginning can only be set insufficiently. In contrast to the aforementioned construction, in which the headrest itself can be made relatively flat, in this construction, the headrest is built up relatively high because of the tilting mechanism provided there, which in view of the greatest possible leg or knee space, which the practitioner takes if the backrest is strongly inclined, it is annoying. With this known construction, patient size adjustment is only possible to a limited extent; very large patients also find insufficient support in the neck area.

From DE-37 27 204 a further headrest construction is known in which a parallelogram-like linkage is articulated on the backrest or on a support part held on the backrest, the pairs of joints of which form a quadrangle with different joint distances. While the joint pair with the smaller joint spacing is arranged close to the backrest, the joint pair provided with the larger joint spacing is arranged remote from the backrest. The pair of joints remote from the backrest is formed by an articulated connection of the two articulated arms to the movable part of a straight guide provided in the longitudinal direction of the headrest. One linkage arm is provided with a roller lever, which is supported on a guide track rigidly fixed in the housing of the headrest. The movable part is moved relative to the fixed part of the straight guide by means of a motor drive. Although the two extreme positions mentioned at the beginning can be achieved quite well with this adjustment mechanism, the mechanism provided in the headrest is also relatively thick-walled here.

The invention specified in claim 1 has for its object to provide a dental patient chair of the type mentioned, which does not have the aforementioned disadvantages, so that the flatest possible headrest can be achieved, which allows optimal support of the patient's head in all treatment positions, whereby the course of movement between the two extreme positions mentioned at the outset is physiologically favorable, ie the natural pitching movement of a patient's head when it is being adjusted should take place accordingly. Furthermore, in particular, larger and relatively small patients should also be given better support not only of the head but also of the back in the upper region of the vertebrae and cervical vertebrae.

Due to the proposed laying of the adjustment mechanism for the headrest in the headrest support, in particular in the lower and middle section of the headrest support, the headrest itself can be built extremely flat, preferably as a headrest shell. In this way, the practitioner is given considerably more freedom in the knee area than previously, especially in treatment positions with a lying patient.

The further proposed subdivision of the headrest wearer into the three sections, base part, main support and sword, as well as their arrangement, has the great advantage that optimal support of the upper back parts in particular is ensured even for very large patients. By gently tilting and straightening the main beam, which is part of the backrest, the movement of the patient's upper vertebrae is included in the overall head movement, which is very advantageous because the head movement is not derived solely from the cervical vertebrae area.

With the measures according to the invention, the further advantage is achieved that the backrest forms an approximately straight line together with the headrest support in the extreme extension position, which is advantageous for this treatment position. In the other treatment positions, however, especially in the other extreme position mentioned at the beginning, the prosthetic position, there is a clear inclination between the backrest and the main support, which corresponds better to the natural, anatomical conditions in a relaxed, seated patient position than the above-mentioned straight line in the extension position.

The two tilting movements, that of the headrest and that of the main beam, run simultaneously and in the same direction, but at different speeds, which results in a harmonious adjustment of the patient's head.

By adapting the headrest support with respect to the outer contour of the backrest, a compact, harmoniously closed outer shape can be achieved, which is easy to clean and maintain.

Further advantages result from the following description of an embodiment with reference to the drawing.
Show it:
  • FIG. 1 shows a dental patient chair in a side view,
  • FIG. 2 backrest and headrest of the patient chair in a top view with the backrest cushion removed,
  • FIG. 3 shows the headrest adjustment mechanism in a rear view,

Mit 7 ist ein in den nachfolgenden Figuren noch näher beschriebener Kopfstützenträger bezeichnet.FIG. 1 shows a schematic illustration of a dental patient chair in a side view. The chair contains, in a known manner, a chair upper part comprising a reclining seat 1, backrest 2 and headrest 3, which is arranged in a known manner by means of an adjustment mechanism, not shown, covered by a bellows 4 in a known manner relative to a chair base part 5, for example in the directions indicated by arrows. The adjustment options given are only examples. It is therefore entirely possible to arrange the backrest to be adjustable relative to the seat, by the connecting element 6 being guided accordingly in the reclining seat 1. With 7 is a headrest support described in more detail in the following figures.

From the illustration it can be seen that the headrest 3 and headrest support 7, which advantageously have the same width, are arranged so as to be longitudinally displaceable on the backrest 2, for which purpose the backrest 2 has an upwardly open cutout 8 in the middle, adapted to at least the lower part of the headrest support 7 is. On both sides of the cutout 8, 2 guide rods 9 are arranged in the backrest, on which guide bushings 10 fastened to the headrest support 7 slide. For the longitudinal adjustment of the headrest support 7 is a geared motor 11 held in the backrest 2, which drives a toothed belt 12 attached to the one guide bush 10. A position transmitter 13 is driven with the toothed belt, with which the exact position of the headrest support with respect to the backrest can be detected or specified. The articulation of the headrest support 7 on the headrest 3, which will be described in more detail later, is covered by a bellows 14 which follows the outer contour of the headrest and headrest support and thus creates a harmonious, easy-to-clean transition.

In this context, it should be pointed out that the part of the headrest support 7 which adjoins the bellows downward towards the backrest also has a padding which is adapted to the backrest, so that optimal support is also provided in the extended position, which corresponds to a patient position of very large patients a patient's upper vertebrae and cervical vertebrae are present.

Kippmechanik kann, wie später noch näher beschrieben, der Hauptträger 16 gegenüber dem Basisteil 15 um die beiden Lagerachsen 26 in einen bestimmten Winkelbereich gekippt werden (Pfeil).FIG. 3 shows a diagrammatic representation of the headrest and headrest support adjustment mechanism with the trim parts removed, specifically in a rear view, ie looking at the back of the backrest. From the illustration it can be seen that the headrest 3 contains an angled frame 3a, which is advantageously a contour-emphasized molded part and contains a bowl-shaped depression for the headrest of the patient. The headrest support 7 can be divided into three sections I, II, and III. The lower section I contains a base part 15, which carries the two guide bushings 10, a central section II, which contains a main support 16, and an upper section III, which contains a sword designated by 17. The sword 17 is plate-shaped, the one upper end being fork-shaped and containing two bearing pins which form a pivot bearing 18 about which the headrest 3 can be pivoted (arrow). A further pivot bearing 19 is arranged approximately halfway across the headrest, on which a rod 20 is suspended, which extends downward in a slot-like recess 21 in the sword 17. The two axes of the pivot bearings 18 and 19 form a lever arm, as a result of which the headrest is pivoted about the axis of the pivot bearing 18 when the rod 20 is subjected to tension or pressure. The end of the rod 20 opposite the pivot bearing 19 is coupled to a transmission lever 22, which is described in more detail with reference to FIG is supported on a surface 25 of the base part 15. With this adjustment or tilting mechanism, as described in more detail later, the main support 16 can be tilted relative to the base part 15 about the two bearing axes 26 into a certain angular range (arrow).

The sword 17 is guided on both sides in a slide guide 27 fastened to the main support 16. An electric motor 28 which is arranged in the base part 15 and which drives a toothed belt 29, which by means of suitable fastening elements, is used for the adjustment 30 attached to the sword 17, otherwise is guided over a deflection roller, not specified.

From the figure it can be seen that the lower end of the rod 20 is bent forward, that is to the front of the backrest, and there has a link 31 in which a first roller 32, which is supported at one end of the transmission lever 22, is guided. On a part 33 of the sword 17, a second link 34 is provided, in which a second roller 35 is guided. At the other end of the transmission lever 22 there is a pin 36 which is arranged eccentrically to the bearing pin 23 and on which the support member 24 is mounted. Bearing pin 23 and eccentric pin 36 form a distance b, which causes the main support 16 to tilt relative to the base part 15 when the sword 17 is adjusted by a motor along the cutout 8 of the backrest 2 (FIG. 2).

Der Lagerabstand der beiden Rollen 32 und 35 bestimmt dabei die Verstellbewegung der Stange und damit der Kopfstütze 3.Assuming that the sword 17 is to be retracted into the backrest, that is to say moved downwards in the illustration according to FIG. 3, the link 34 takes the transmission lever 22 with it via the roller 35, i.e. this is pivoted downward about the bearing axis 23 in the illustration. Due to the coupling via the roller 32 and the link 31, the push rod 20 is also moved downward, as a result of which the headrest 3 is inclined rearward about the bearing axis 18. The bearing distance of the two rollers 32 and 35 determines the adjustment movement of the rod and thus the headrest 3.

In synchronism with the combined movement of retracting the sword 17 while simultaneously tilting the headrest backwards, the main carrier 16 is also tilted backwards from a previously slightly inclined position by a certain degree of angle by moving over the Lever arm b between support member 24 and pivot pin 23 during a tilting movement of the transmission lever, as described above, the support member 24 is raised slightly, whereby the main carrier is moved backwards in the aforementioned manner due to the normal load on the backrest by the patient.

The same applies to the opposite movement, i.e. for the extension of the sword.

Figures 5 and 6 show the two end positions of the headrest, Figure 5 shows the extended and Figure 6 shows the retracted position of the sword. From the comparison it can be seen that in the extended position, which is well suited, for example, for prosthetic treatment on a relaxed seated or slightly inclined patient, the main support 16 is inclined at an angle α 1 between 20 and 25 ° relative to the base part 15, while he is in the retracted position, which corresponds to the aforementioned extension position, not or only by a few degrees (α₂ = 2 to 6 °) with respect to the base part. From the comparison, the respective position of the headrest 3 in the two end positions can still be seen very well. It can clearly be seen that the headrest performs a much stronger tilting movement than the main beam.
