Abstract
There is disclosed an improved package (1) for packaging deep frozen food products,(3) in particular fish, crostacea and molluscs, either not pre-processed or pre-processed. The package comprises a heat molded tray, (2) therewith a clear protective film (4) cooperates, made of a plastic material,which can envelop, in a vacuum condition, the food products so as to adhere to the latter while allowing a perfect vision of the products by the consumer. The tray, in particular, is contained in a cardboard casing having a profiled window.
Description
- The present invention relates to an improved package for packaging deep frozen food products, in particular fish, crostacea and molluscs, either in a pre-processed condition or in a not pre-processed condition.
- As is known,there are commercially available a lot of deep frozen food products, either in a natural or not cooked condition or in a pre-cooked condition, to be used as base components for specifical recipes, or in a ready condition for the direct consume.
- Also known is that these products are usually packaged in aluminium trays, which are closed at the top by a film also made of aluminium, and are then introduced into cardboard casings, thereon there are printed wordings and figures.
- Alternatively, for given products, they can be packaged in a thermoshrinkable plastic material envelope, or in a small tray coated by a plastic material film.
- In the first case the food product is not visible for the consumer and, accordingly, the consumer is compelled to purchase the product relying on the good name of the vendor and on a good preservation of the packaged product.
- In the second case the packaged product can indeed be seen, but, generally, in a not optimal way since the wordings on the envelope prevent a perfect vision of the product itself.
- Moreover, a forced superimposition of the envelopes, both during the shipment and on the exhibition freezer supporting surface causes the packaged products to be undesirably crushed.
- Accordingly, the aim of the present invention is to overcome the above mentioned drawbacks, by providing a package for packaging deep frozen food products, in particular fish, crostacea and molluscs, even in a pre-processed or prepared condition, which allows the packaged product to be perfectly seen by the consumer.
- Within the scope of the above mentioned aim, a main object of the present invention, is to provide such a package for deep frozen food products which includes a box-like body specifically designed for protecting the packaged product from undesired pressure stresses.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide such a package for deep frozen food products, which is very reliable and competitive from a mere economic standpoint.
- According to one aspect of the present invention, the above mentioned aim and objects, as well as yet other objects, which will become more apparent hereinafter, are achieved by an improved package for packaging deep frozen food products, in particular fish, crostacea and molluscs, characterized in that said package comprises a heat molded tray cooperating with a protecting clear film, made of a plastic material , adapted to cover, in a vacuum condition, the food products, said tray being held in a cardboard printed casing provided with a window arrangement.
- Further characteristics and advantages of the package for packaging food products according to the present invention will become more apparent from the following detailed disclosure of a preferred, though not exclusive, embodiment thereof, which is illustrated, by way of an indicative but not limitative example, in the figures of the accompanying drawings, where:
- Figure 1 is a schematic perspective view illustrating the package according to the invention;
- Figures 2 and 3 schematically show a possible procedure for introducing the food product into a tray element included in the package according to the invention;
and - Figure 4 is a schematic view illustrating, in a separate condition, the two parts forming the subject package.
- With reference to the figures of the accompanying drawings, the package for packaging deep frozen food products according to the invention, which has been generally indicated at the
reference number 1, comprises a heat moldedtray 2, provided for holding thefood products 3 to be deep frozen. - This tray is sealed at the top thereof by a very thin
clear film 4, made of any suitable plastic material, which is adapted to perfectly adhere, by suction of the air in the tray, to the free surface of the food product. - In this connection it should be pointed out that the above mentioned film is further adapted to shrink during the deep freezing operation, so that it can be confused, because of its clearness, with the exposed to view surface of the food product.
- Thus, the consumer can see and monitor or control the food product since this product appears as free of any top protecting envelope.
- The product holding tray, in particular, is introduced into a
casing 5, made of a suitable cardboard material, having atop window 6, and thereon there are printed wordings 7 related to the features of the products, and to the procedure for preserving and preparing it. - The box-like construction of the casing, in particular, will allow two or more packages to be superimposed without subjecting the packaged product to undesired compression stresses.
- Moreover, the discontinuous construction of the casing will facilitate a proper thermal exchange between the inside of the tray and the region of the freezer where the product is arranged.
- While the invention has been disclosed and illustrated with reference to a preferred embodiment thereof, it should be apparent that the disclosed embodiment is susceptible to several modifications and variations all of which will come within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
Claims (4)
- An improved package for packaging deep frozen food products, in particular fish, crostacea and molluscs, characterized in that said package comprises a heat molded tray cooperating with a protecting clear film, made of a plastic material, adapted to cover, in a vacuum condition, the food products, said tray being held in a cardboard printed casing provided with a window arrangement.
- A package, according to Claim 1, characterized in that said heat molded tray holding the food product to be deep frozen is sealed at the top thereof by a very thin clear film, made of a plastic material, adapted to perfectly adhere, under suction, to the free top surface of the food product.
- A package, according to Claims 1 and 2, characterized in that said film is adapted to be shrunk in order to be practically confused, because of its clearness, with the exposed to view surface of the food product.
- A package, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that on said cardboard casing there are printed wordings related to the features of the food products, to its components and to the procedure for preserving and preparing it.
