Abstract

The invention relates to an exercise device for moving parts of the body by overcoming a resistance, formed from two arcuately curved brackets which can be fastened at both ends and have a guide for a handle which can be displaced along the brackets.

From the publication SU 1291-165-A, which can be seen in "SOVIET INVENTIONS ILLUSTRATED", London 1987, Week 8744, a training device is known which consists of two semicircular curved arms. Handles can be moved along these brackets against an adjustable resistance. This relatively complicated device has the disadvantage that only a few exercises for the arms can be carried out. In addition, this device is also very poorly suited for having bedridden persons perform therapeutic exercises.

The object of the invention is to avoid these disadvantages, and to provide a structurally simple, robust, easy-to-install exercise device for moving parts of the body by overcoming a resistance, which allows diverse exercises for different parts of the body, especially when lying or sitting can be completed, whereby apart from training muscle parts, the main focus is on flexibility exercises.

According to the invention it is provided that the brackets are attached to both sides of a seat or lying surface on a frame, for example the frame of a bed, and a single, lockable handle that is longitudinally displaceable on both brackets is provided, and at least one on the brackets and / or the Handle releasably attachable elastic element, in particular a rubber band that forms resistance to be overcome for the exercises, for example with arms or legs. The brackets carry the handle, which in certain exercises along the bracket against the spring force of the elastic element is movable. Such an exercise device can be set up extremely quickly and easily, for example being mounted on a bedside. It is preferably provided that the handle, which is longitudinally displaceable on the brackets, can be fixed infinitely along this, for example with the aid of a tightenable pipe clamp on the respective front end of the handle. The elastic element can be attached to the handle and used directly for the desired exercises e.g. stretching the elastic element. The fixed handle serves to stabilize the bracket.

In order to be able to optimally adapt the exercise device to the respective exercises, it is advantageous if the ends of the arc-shaped brackets merge into vertical bearing sections, which in the sleeve and clamp-like fastening elements on the frame of the seat or lying surface in the vertical direction and / or in the longitudinal direction Seat or lying surface adjustable, preferably continuously, are included.

As such, a stepwise adjustment in the vertical direction is of course also conceivable, for example with the help of pins inserted at the front through bores in the bearing sections or in the fastening elements or with the aid of snap connection elements known per se.

Furthermore, it is also advantageous if the brackets extend to the sides of the seat and lying surface in arches with variable curvature, the curvatures in the head area, between the skullcap and shoulder joints, being narrower than in the leg area, between the thighs and toes of a person lying in bed . The stronger or narrower curvature in the head area is favorable with regard to the movement exercises with the arms that take place in this area if the handle is moved there along the bracket, whereas in the leg area a larger radius of curvature is expedient for leg exercises.

Practical tests have shown that the spans of the arched brackets are approximately 100 cm. In addition, the height of the bracket can, for example, approximately 60 cm at the highest point, measured from the level where the vertical bearing sections merge into the curved area.

In a particularly simple embodiment variant, it is provided that the handle is formed by a cross rod, at the ends of which tube sleeves which can be slid along the brackets are attached. If exercises are mainly carried out with a displaceable handle, it is advantageous if the handle is designed as a slide that glides easily along the bracket. It can be conveniently attached to the underside of the slide holding options with which the slide can be gripped by the practitioner and moved back and forth along the bracket.

For exercises with a displaceable handle, it is advantageous if adjustable stops for the handle are provided on the brackets, for example in the form of pins which can be inserted into bores through the arches.

A preferred embodiment of the invention provides that the rubber band is an endless rubber band. Such a self-contained rubber band is particularly easy to attach by looping or laying around the handle or around any pin or hook parts on the frame, on the handle and / or on the brackets.
