Description

The invention relates to a miniature molded case remote control switch in which are housed:
  • an electromagnet with a swiveling remote control paddle,
  • a control mechanism having a pendulum mounted pivotally and capable of occupying two stable extreme positions,
  • a control member secured to the pallet and cooperating with the pendulum to positively move the latter from a stable position to the other stable position at each operation of the pallet,
  • a movable rocking contact which cooperates with a fixed contact and which is secured to a contact arm which cooperates with said pendulum, for moving the rocking contact from the closed position to the open position and vice versa during the passage of the pendulum from one of the stable positions towards each other and vice versa,
  • a pair of power terminals arranged on the two opposite narrow side faces, one of the terminals being connected to the fixed contact and the other terminal being connected to the rocking contact by a rigid conductor the end of which constitutes the articulation of the rocking contact .

The present invention is based on the observation that the lifespan of a remote control switch of the type mentioned (French Patent No. 2,482,773) is essentially determined by the wear of the articulation of the rocking contact. This articulation also ensures the electrical contact between the fixed part and the movable rocking contact, and any wear causes deterioration of this electrical contact and rapid destruction.

The object of the present invention is to improve this articulation of the rocking contact on the fixed current supply part, while reducing the manufacturing cost.

The remote control switch according to the invention is characterized in that the contact arm comprises a transverse notch in V, that said end of the rigid conductor is cut into a knife of shape combined with that of the notch in V, to constitute with the latter a knife joint and that a bistable leaf spring cooperates by one of its ends with said rigid conductor and by the opposite end with the rocking contact in order, on the one hand to maintain in engagement the V-notch on the knife , and secondly solicit the rocking contact to the stable open and closed positions of said contacts.

By widening the range of the joint, which is no longer limited to two points, but which extends over the entire length of the knife, the risk of premature wear is almost eliminated. The bistable leaf spring ensures correct support of the knife in the V-notch and the size of this spring is extremely reduced, while allowing easy assembly of a sub-assembly formed by the fixed current supply conductor. and the tilting contact with its bistable leaf spring. The V-notch is advantageously coated with a layer of silver which improves the electrical contact with the knife, generally made of copper or a copper alloy. This silver layer can be a simple strip transferred to the rocking contact before it is stamped and cut. A tilting centering means before its stamping and cutting. A rib and groove centering means positions the V-notch on the knife.

Another object of the invention is the simplification of the mounting of the pallet with its control member. According to the invention, the articulation of the pallet on the yoke of the electromagnet is polarized by a strand of a spiral spring, the opposite strand of which ensures the locking of the control member on the pallet, while acting as a return spring now the pallet moved away from the cylinder head. The same spring performs three functions or even four if it is accepted that the polarization of the articulation consists on the one hand of positioning the pallet against a fixed stop, for example constituted by a wall of the housing, and on the other hand keep the pallet in contact with the pole surface of the frame, avoiding any parasitic air gap. The heel in the form of a protuberance of the control member passes through an orifice made in the pallet and cooperates with the corresponding strand of the spiral spring, to be urged by the latter, in support of the pallet, while recalling the latter in position 'spacing.

The invention also aims to facilitate the mounting of a phase shift ring on the leg of the yoke carrying the coil of the electromagnet. This frame-shaped phase shift ring, one of the sides of which is inserted into a groove formed in the polar surface of the cylinder head, is secured to the coil carcass, so that the positioning of this carcass on the leg of the cylinder head, automatically brings the phase shift ring into its insertion position in said groove. This avoids an operation of placing the phase shift ring, separate from the operation of mounting the coil. The phase shift ring is simply inserted into a slide coming from molding with the carcass of the coil and the assembly, coil, carcass and phase shift ring, constitutes a sub-assembly whose assembly is easy.

According to another development of the invention, an auxiliary contact for a remote control switch is constituted from the same basic elements as the remote control switch, by simply modifying the connection between the balance and the tilting contact. The auxiliary contacts generally inserted in the control circuit must open slightly behind the contacts of the remote control switch so as not to prematurely interrupt the supply of the electromagnet, and this time delay is obtained by inserting between the balance and the contact tilting, an elastic blade. When the auxiliary contact is a contact reversing switch, the elastic blade automatically provides time delay in both directions of movement.

An embodiment of the invention is given by way of nonlimiting example and shown in the appended drawings in which:

Figure 1 is a schematic elevational view of a remote control switch according to the invention, in which the side wall of the housing is assumed to be removed, and the tilting contact being in an intermediate position.

Figure 2 is a partial view of Figure 1 showing the contact in the open position and the control member at the start of the contact closing operation.

La figure 3 est une vue en perspective du contact basculant selon la figure 1.FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the rocking contact according to FIG. 1.

Les figures 4 et 5 sont des vues respectivement en élévation et en plan, à échelle agrandie du contact basculant selon la figure 3.FIGS. 4 and 5 are views respectively in elevation and in plan, on an enlarged scale of the rocking contact according to FIG. 3.

Figure 6 is a view similar to that of Figure 2, of an auxiliary change-over contact according to the invention.

Figure 7 is a perspective view of the coil carcass and the phase shift ring before insertion of the latter into the slide of the carcass.

Figure 8 is a perspective view showing the carcass sub-assembly, phase shift ring before its introduction on the cylinder head.

In the figures, a miniature molded case 10 contains an electromagnet 11, a control mechanism 12 and an electrical power circuit 13. The circuit 13 includes a contact tilting mobile 14 arranged in reversing contact which cooperates with a pair of fixed contacts 15,16 connected to terminals 17,18. The tilting contact 14 is electrically connected by a rigid conductor 19 to an opposite terminal 20. The end, opposite the terminal 20, of the rigid conductor 19 is cut into a knife 21, engaged in a V-shaped notch 22, of the contact tilting 14 to form a knife joint. A leaf spring 23 has two curved ends, one of which 24 is anchored in an orifice 25 formed in the fixed conductor 19 and the other end of which is engaged in an orifice of the rocking contact 14. The relative position of the articulation 21, 22 and the support points of the leaf spring 23 is such that this spring is bistable and selectively biases the rocking contact 14 towards the open and closed position. The bistable leaf spring 23 extends parallel near the fixed conductor 19 without occupying an important place inside the housing 10. The V-shaped notch 22 has a central rib 50 which fits into a notch in the knife 21 to avoid any lateral shift.

The electromagnet 11 comprises an E-shaped cylinder head 27, the central leg of which carries a coil 28 and the lateral leg of which carries a pallet 30. The pallet 30 is held in abutment against the pole end surface of the leg 29 by a spiral spring 31, one of the strands 32 of which enters an orifice provided in the pallet 30. This same strand 32 urges the pallet 30 to bear a fixed stop 33 formed on the wall of the housing 10. It It is easy to see that this assembly constitutes an articulation allowing the pallet 30 to pivot while being held in contact with the pole surface of the yoke of the electromagnet 11.

The pallet 30 carries at its end opposite the articulation a control member 34 capable of cooperating with a pendulum 35. The control member 34 has at one of its ends a protuberance or tail 36 which passes through an orifice formed in the pallet 30. This tail 36 is held by the strand 37 of the spiral spring 31 opposite the strand 32, which strand 37 passes through a hole made in the tail 36. It is easy to see that this strand 37 locks, on the one hand the control member 34 on the pallet 30 while allowing a limited pivoting movement, and on the other hand biases the pallet 30 in the spacing position of the yoke of the electromagnet 11. The control member 34 carries at its opposite end two fingers 38 which cooperate with the balance 35, so as to reverse the position of the latter at each cycle d attraction of the pallet 30. The balance 35 in turn controls the tilting contact 14, the contact arm 39 of which is engaged in a groove 40 formed in the balance 35. Such a mechanism 12 is well known in itself, and it suffices to recall that each pivoting of the pallet 30, the rocking contact 14 changes position.

On évite ainsi une mise en place et une fixation séparée de la bague de déphasage 44.Referring more particularly to FIGS. 7 and 8, it can be seen that the coil 28 comprises a carcass 41 with two lateral flanges 42, the upper flange 42 of which carries on its external face a slide 43 capable of receiving a phase shift ring 44. The carcass 41 can be threaded onto the central leg of the yoke 27 of the electromagnet 11 and during this insertion, the phase shift ring 44 comes to be embedded in a groove 45 formed in the pole end face. This avoids a separate positioning and fixing of the phase shift ring 44.

Ce retard est indépendant du sens de rotation du balancier 35.FIG. 6 shows an auxiliary contact capable of being associated or incorporated into a remote control switch according to FIG. 1 and using the same basic constituent elements. We see that the only difference consists in the insertion of an elastic blade 46 between the contact arm 39 and the balance 35. The tilting of the balance 35 is transmitted to the tilting auxiliary contact 47 after a first phase of deformation of the elastic blade 46 and the movement of the auxiliary contact 47 only intervenes thereafter, when the force of the elastic blade 46 manages to overcome the force provided by the leaf spring 23. The auxiliary contact 47 is coupled to a remote control switch according to the figure 1 and pendulums 35 are ordered simultaneously, either by a mechanical link or by electromechanical control. The tilting contact 14 immediately follows this movement to initiate the opening or closing of the remote control switch, while the auxiliary contact 47 is controlled with a certain delay. This delay is independent of the direction of rotation of the balance 35.

The operation of the remote control switch is described in detail in the aforementioned patent and the reader can refer to it for further details. The invention is of course in no way limited to the embodiment more particularly described.
