- the invention relates to an electrical connector housing with a finding device for an electrical contact element to be inserted into a contact chamber of the connector housing.
- Plug housings which have at least one sealing chamber which is axially arranged in front of a contact chamber which is rectangular in cross section and round in cross section, with a truncated cone-shaped finding funnel of round cross section being provided in the transition region between the larger diameter sealing chamber and the smaller diameter contact chamber, the mouth of which is rectangular in the contact chamber , because the finding funnel ends at the walls of the contact chamber of rectangular cross section.
- Such a housing chamber is mechanically equipped with a fork spring contact element crimped on an electrical conductor wire, formed from a sheet metal stamped part, which has a box-shaped spring arm base adapted to the cross section of the contact chamber, from which fork spring arms extend forward to a contact point and on which extend backwards Crimp is arranged.
- the fork spring arms end with a V-shaped finding funnel for a contact pin to be contacted with the fork spring contact element, the contact pin finding funnel being parallel has spaced end edges of the same length, which are also the free end edges of the fork spring arms.
- a contact element with such a basic structure is widely known.
- a cylindrical, ribbed sealing plug made of an elastic material sits on the electrical conductor wire immediately behind the crimp with a press fit, the rib diameter of which is adapted to the diameter of the sealing chamber.
- the sealing plug is intended to prevent the ingress of water or moisture from the conductor wire side to the contact point of the contact element in the contact chamber.
- a gripper of a fitting device grips the conductor wire just behind the sealing plug and pushes the contact element through the sealing chamber into the contact chamber.
- the front free end edges of the spring arms hit the finding funnel and are guided to the contact chamber when inserted further. If the contact element is aligned axially in the contact chamber and is not rotated about its longitudinal axis, the finding funnel functions in the desired known manner. However, if the contact element is inserted slightly twisted about the longitudinal axis, the edges meet in a more or less diagonal position with respect to the contact chamber wall orientation on the chamber edges at the end of the funnel with the result that the funnel cannot perform its function and that Mating process is hindered.
- a twist of the contact element is usually the result of a twist of the flexible thin conductor wire that is usually unavoidable. Since the gripper element of the assembly device can only grip the contact element to be plugged in because of the sealing plug on the conductor wire and not, as in the case of contact elements to be plugged in without a plug, on the stationary rigid crimp, the twisting of the conductor wire is transferred to the contact element, from which the plug-in obstructions can result.
- the object of the invention is to provide a contact chamber of rectangular cross-section with upstream sealing chambers of round cross-section having a connector housing with a finding device between the sealing and contact chambers, which do not hinder the insertion of two parallel front end edges having crimped to an electrical conductor wire and provided with sealing plug contact element .
- the contact element 1 to be plugged out of a stamped sheet metal part is a fork spring contact with a box-shaped spring arm base 2, to which are arranged converging fork spring arms 3, which extend forwardly at one end and are arranged opposite one another, and which end in parallel end edges 5 of a pin-pin finding funnel 4.
- the crimp 6 is connected to the spring arm base 2.
- a sealing plug 8 sits on the electrical conductor wire 7 behind the crimp 6.
- the contact element 1 is to be machined in the direction of arrow 9 from a gripper of a placement device (not shown) (not shown) through a sealing chamber 10 with a round cross section into an axially aligned contact chamber 12 with a rectangular cross section of an electrical connector housing 11 can be inserted, for example a rotation of the contact element 1 in the direction of arrow 13 with respect to the orientation of the walls of the chamber 12 can be present.
- the inventive finding device 14 used to align a twisted contact element 1 is arranged in the transition region 15 between the sealing chamber 10 and the contact chamber 12. It essentially consists of two cross-sectional constrictions 17, 18 in the form of segments of a circle in cross-section which are arranged opposite one another in the sealing chamber 10 in two axially spaced transverse planes, which arise on the inner wall of the sealing chamber 10 and extend axially to the corresponding inner wall of the contact chamber 12, the surfaces 17a, 18a of the cross-sectional constrictions 17, 18 extending parallel to the longitudinal axis of the chambers 10, 12 are aligned with the surface of the corresponding contact chamber wall.
- each cross-sectional constriction 17 begins with a finding bevel 16 and each cross-sectional constriction 18 with a finding bevel 19, the finding bevels 16, 19 of the interacting pairs of cross-sectional constrictions each having the same design and thus each forming a circumferential, axially offset partial area of a truncated cone-shaped finding funnel.
- This inventive division of the finding funnel results in the bevels 16, which the front edges 5 of the contact element 1 initially encounter. If the front edges 5 do not run parallel to the free slope end edge 16a of the slope 16, ie if the contact element 1 is rotated, the edges 5 and thus the contact element 1 are aligned by the slopes 16 such that the edges 5 run parallel to the edges 16a . The contact element 1 can then align with the bevels 19 and slide easily into the contact chamber 12. Accordingly, the bevels 16 leading the edges 5 are expediently arranged upstream of the bevels 19 in the direction of the plug-in axis.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an electrical connector housing with a finding device for an electrical contact element to be inserted into a contact chamber of the connector housing.
Plug housings are known which have at least one sealing chamber which is axially arranged in front of a contact chamber which is rectangular in cross section and round in cross section, with a truncated cone-shaped finding funnel of round cross section being provided in the transition region between the larger diameter sealing chamber and the smaller diameter contact chamber, the mouth of which is rectangular in the contact chamber , because the finding funnel ends at the walls of the contact chamber of rectangular cross section.
Such a housing chamber is mechanically equipped with a fork spring contact element crimped on an electrical conductor wire, formed from a sheet metal stamped part, which has a box-shaped spring arm base adapted to the cross section of the contact chamber, from which fork spring arms extend forward to a contact point and on which extend backwards Crimp is arranged.
The fork spring arms end with a V-shaped finding funnel for a contact pin to be contacted with the fork spring contact element, the contact pin finding funnel being parallel has spaced end edges of the same length, which are also the free end edges of the fork spring arms. A contact element with such a basic structure is widely known.
A cylindrical, ribbed sealing plug made of an elastic material sits on the electrical conductor wire immediately behind the crimp with a press fit, the rib diameter of which is adapted to the diameter of the sealing chamber. The sealing plug is intended to prevent the ingress of water or moisture from the conductor wire side to the contact point of the contact element in the contact chamber.
To populate the chamber with a fork spring contact element crimped onto a conductor wire, a gripper of a fitting device grips the conductor wire just behind the sealing plug and pushes the contact element through the sealing chamber into the contact chamber. The front free end edges of the spring arms hit the finding funnel and are guided to the contact chamber when inserted further. A twist of the contact element is usually the result of a twist of the flexible thin conductor wire that is usually unavoidable.
The object of the invention is to provide a contact chamber of rectangular cross-section with upstream sealing chambers of round cross-section having a connector housing with a finding device between the sealing and contact chambers, which do not hinder the insertion of two parallel front end edges having crimped to an electrical conductor wire and provided with sealing plug contact element .

- Fig. 2
- perspektivisch einen Längsschnitt durch eine Gehäusekammer.
- Fig. 1
- in perspective a connector housing and a crimped contact element;

- in perspective a longitudinal section through a housing chamber.
The
The
This inventive division of the finding funnel results in the
