Gas burner for a cookstove, a cooking top or the like and of the type comprising a head (1) provided with gas outlet apertures and adaptable onto a support (2) formed of a hollow and opening part comprising a central shaft (6) defining with the wall (7) of the hollow part an annular chamber (8) fed with a primary air-gas mixture whereas the head (1) consists of three superimposed and removable elements comprising a ring (3) resting upon the support (2), a first disk-shaped part (4) resting upon the ring (3) and comprising a central sleeve (16) which may be fitted onto the said central shaft (6) and a second disk-shaped part constituting a cap (5) resting upon the said first disk-shaped point (4) and comprising a centring pin (19) penetrating into the central sleeve (16) of the first disk-shaped part (4) and into the central shaft (6) of the support (2), characterized in that :
    - the cap (5) comprises on its bottom face abutments (18) for bearing upon the first disk-shaped part (4) to permit the passage of secondary air fed from the central shaft (6) and on its periphery arms (20) imparting a star-like shape or the like thereto to allow the cap (5) to support any vessel whatsoever directly and in a stable manner;
    - the first disk-shaped part (4) carries on its bottom face and in the vicinity of its periphery a series of crenels (17) of a substantially trapezoidal shape which are bearing upon the ring (3) to form the gas outlet apertures permitting a substantially horizontal development of the flame ; and
    - the ring (3) rests upon the support (2) while leaving between it and this support an annular space (13) communicating with the annular chamber (8) to permit the output of a pilot flame.
  2. Burner according to claim 1, characterized in that the aforesaid crenels (17) are bearing upon a flange (12) of the aforesaid ring (3) which in the position of this ring bearing upon the support (2) leaves the aforesaid annular space (13) between this support and the said flange.
  3. Burner according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the ring (3) comprises on its edge (11a) resting upon the support (2), small recesses (14) forming together with this support outlet apertures for the gas-primary air mixture and on its external periphery small abutments (15) for retaining a radial annular space between the ring (3) and the support (2).
  4. Burner according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the aforesaid ring (3) is fitted into an annular shoulder (10) formed in the upper and opening portion of the aforesaid hollow part or support (2).
  5. Burner according to one of the foregoing claims, characterized in that the second disk-shaped part constituting the cap (5) has a central position (5a) with a diameter greater than that of the support (2), of the ring (3) and of the first disk-shaped part (4) with crenels.
