Abstract

An air bag unit provided with a retainer (6), an inflator (7) fitted to the retainer (6) to eject a gas through a jet port (7a) upon collision of a car and an air bag (8) inflated by the ejected gas, wherein the inflator (7) has a fitting member (7d) and the retainer (6) fastened by fastening members (9a, 9b) in a state where a fitting end portion (8a) of the air bag (8) is clamped between an opposed wall (7b) and a retainer member (7d) formed so as to oppose the jet port (7a) and the retainer (6). Accordingly, specific fitting members such as ring members in conventional air bag units are no longer needed and the number of components can be reduced, so that the air bag unit can be made compact and lightweight as a result of the eliminated specific fitting members.
