Abstract
Description
- La présente invention a pour objet un circuit de protection pour circuit de commande. Elle trouve une application privilégiée dans la commande des écrans d'affichage à cristal liquide.
- Un écran d'affichage à cristal liquide se présente généralement sous la forme illustrée sur la figure 1. L'écran proprement dit ECR est constitué de lignes L et de colonnes C d'adressage, d'une matrice de pixels P, chacun relié à un transistor TFT dont l'état est commandé par la ligne L et la colonne C associées.
- Un tel écran est commandé par un circuit de commande de lignes CCL, qui applique séquentiellement aux lignes une tension d'adressage (par exemple quelques volts) et par un circuit de commande de colonnes CCC, qui applique, à la totalité des colonnes, des tensions reflétant l'intensité lumineuse des points à afficher sur la ligne adressée. L'image globable est ainsi affichée ligne par ligne.
- Le circuit de commande de colonnes CCC reçoit un signal vidéo SV délivré par un circuit vidéo CV. Ce signal est en général constitué de trois composantes correspondant aux trois composantes primaires d'une image en couleur.
- Si l'écran ECR possède 162 colonnes, le circuit CCC comprend 162 circuits élémentaires de commande de colonne, disposés en parallèle, et 162 sorties reliées aux différentes colonnes. Chaque circuit élémentaire de commande de colonne (appelé encore "driver colonne" dans la littérature technique) comprend un circuit échantillonneur-bloqueur dont la fonction est d'échantillonner le signal vidéo à un instant déterminé correspondant à la colonne à commander et de maintenir cet échantillon sur la colonne pendant toute la durée d'adressage d'une ligne (fonction "sample-and-hold" en terminologie anglo-saxonne).
- La présente invention porte sur un tel circuit échantillonneur-bloqueur.
- La plupart des écrans d'affichage à cristal liquide nécessitent une tension de commande de l'ordre de 12V crête à crête. Le recours à un circuit de commande supportant une telle tension limiterait les possibilités d'intégration ainsi que la vitesse de fonctionnement. Or, pour les écrans de grande taille, une haute densité d'intégration est nécessaire et une grande vitesse de commande est souhaitable.
- On préfère donc travailler avec des circuits délivrant seulement 6V crête à crête, mais en prévoyant des artifices sur l'écran, tels que l'utilisation d'une contre-électrode. Par le renversement de polarité appliquée à la contre-électrode, on peut disposer d'une excursion de tension allant respectivement de 0 à 6V et de -6V à 0, ce qui revient bien à disposer de 12V crête à crête (de -6V à +6V).
- Cependant, ces artifices présentent l'inconvénient de ramener des tensions parasites sur le circuit de commande, principalement au moment des commutations. Un transistor de sortie peut ainsi voir 12V entre son drain et sa source. Des phénomènes de claquage et d'avalanche apparaissent, qui finissent par détériorer le circuit.
- La présente invention a pour but de remédier à ces inconvénients. A cette fin, elle propose un circuit de protection comprenant un jeu de transistors servant d'interrupteurs. Une commutation appropriée de ces transistors assurent une remise à zéro d'un point intermédiaire et limite les risques de surtension.
- De façon précise, la présente invention a pour objet un circuit protection destiné à être intercalé entre, d'une part, la sortie d'un circuit de commande comprenant des moyens d'échantillonnage d'un signal d'entrée, notamment d'un signal vidéo, et des moyens de stockage et de transfert des échantillons obtenus, et, d'autre part, un plot de sortie destiné à être relié à une charge extérieure devant recevoir lesdits échantillons, cette charge pouvant être, notamment, une colonne d'afficheur à cristal liquide, ce circuit étant destiné à protéger les moyens du circuit de commande vis-à-vis de tensions excessives pouvant apparaître sur le plot de sortie, ce circuit de protection étant caractérisé par le fait qu'il comprend : un premier interrupteur électronique et un deuxième interrupteur électronique montés en série et un troisième interrupteur électronique monté entre un point situé entre le premier et le deuxième interrupteurs et un point porté à un potentiel nul, et des moyens pour délivrer des signaux de commande de ces interrupteurs pour, à chaque échantillon délivré par le circuit de commande :
- a) fermer le premier et le deuxième et ouvrir le troisième pour transférer l'échantillon du circuit de commande vers le plot de sortie,
- b) ouvrir le premier et le deuxième et fermer le troisième, pour ramener un potentiel nul entre le premier et le deuxième interrupteurs,
- c) fermer le deuxième, pour ramener le plot de sortie à un potentiel nul.
- Ce circuit peut être appliqué à la réalisation d'un circuit de commande double permettant de disposer, sur un plot de sortie unique, d'une tension de sortie allant de -V et +V (soit une excursion de 12V) sans que les transistors composant ce circuit aient à craindre de voir à leurs bornes une tension excédant V. Un tel circuit comprend deux circuits de commande conformes au circuit qui vient d'être défini, ces circuits travaillant en alternance et recevant des signaux d'entrée vidéo de polarités opposées, les interrupteurs électroniques respectifs des deux circuits de protection étant commandés par des signaux complémentaires, les deux circuits de protection étant reliés à un plot de sortie unique.
- De toute façon, les caractéristiques et avantages de l'invention apparaîtront mieux à la lumière de la description qui va suivre. Cette description porte sur des exemples de réalisation donnés à titre explicatif et nullement limitatif et elle se réfère à des dessins annexés sur lesquels :
- la figure 1, déjà décrite, montre schématiquement un écran d'affichage à cristal liquide,
- la figure 2 illustre un circuit de commande à sortie protégée conforme à l'invention,
- la figure 3 montre les trois états du circuit de protection,
- la figure 4 montre un circuit de commande double conforme à l'invention,
- la figure 5 est un chronogramme relatif au circuit de la figure précédente.
- Le circuit de commande de colonne CCC représenté sur la figure 2 comprend des moyens 10 aptes à délivrer une impulsion de tension. Dans le cas de la commande des colonnes d'un écran d'affichage à cristal liquide, il s'agit d'un échantillonneur-bloqueur recevant une tension vidéo V et échantillonnant celle-ci à un instant défini par une impulsion d'échantillonnage ECH. Un exemple d'un tel circuit sera illustré sur la figure 4. Sur la sortie s des moyens 10 apparaît ainsi une tension qui est la tension devant être transférée sur un plot de sortie S pour finalement être appliquée à la colonne C de l'écran. Selon l'invention, le circuit de commande CC comprend en outre un circuit de protection CP composé de trois interrupteurs électroniques, en pratique des transistors, respectivement T1, T2 et T3. Les transistors T1 et T2 sont montés en série entre la sortie s et le plot S. Le troisième, T3, est monté entre le point milieu m et un point M porté à la masse. Ces trois transistors sont commandés par des signaux S1, S2, S3 délivrés par un circuit 20.
- Le fontionnement du circuit de protection est illustré sur la figure 3. Ce fonctionnement comprend trois phases :
- a) première phase : T1 et T2 sont fermés et T3 ouvert : la tension de commande disponible sur la sortie s est transférée sur le plot de sortie S ;
- b) deuxième phase : T1 et T2 sont ouverts et T3 fermé : le point milieu m est ramené à la masse alors que la sortie s est isolée du plot de sorties ;
- c) troisième phase : T1 reste ouvert, T2 et T3 sont fermés : le plot de sortie est ramené à la masse.
- Pour appliquer une nouvelle impulsion sur la colonne C, lors du balayage d'une nouvelle ligne, le même cycle se reproduit.
- On voit donc que, dans chacune des trois étapes précédentes, les transistors ne voient jamais plus d'une tension V entre leurs bornes, si V est l'amplitude de la tension de commande, en dépit de toutes les perturbations pouvant être ramenées par la colonne.
- La figure 4 montre un double circuit de commande de colonne CCC pour écran d'affichage, comprenant un circuit CC⁺ travaillant avec un signal vidéo V⁺ et un circuit CC⁻ travaillant avec un signal vidéo V⁻. Ces deux circuits travaillent en alternance, comme c'est le cas dans les circuits de commande d'écrans d'affichage à cristal liquide dans lesquels la tension appliquée au cristal liquide voit son signe alterner d'un balayage ligne au suivant. Les deux signaux vidéo V⁺ et V⁻ sont délivrés par un circuit vidéo CV qui alimente deux bus vidéo, l'un positif BV⁺, l'autre négatif BV⁻.
- Le circuit CC⁺ comprend un condensateur d'échantillonnage Ce⁺ relié à un transistor d'échantillonnage Te⁺ commandé par un signal d'échantillonnage ECH⁺, un amplificateur A⁺ avec, en parallèle, un condensateur de stockage Cs⁺, l'ensemble Te⁺, Ce⁺, A⁺, Cs⁺ constituant un échantillonneur bloqueur. Le circuit CC⁺ se complète par un circuit de protection CP⁺ à trois transistors T1⁺, T2⁺, T3⁺.
- Le circuit CC⁻ est identique au circuit CC⁺ et comprend les mêmes éléments désignés par les mêmes références affectées d'un signe - au lieu d'un signe +.
- Les deux circuits CC⁺ et CC⁻ ont leurs sorties reliées au même plot S, lequel est relié à une colonne C d'écran d'affichage.
- Les signaux de commande des transistors des circuits de protection sont complémentaires, c'est-à-dire que S1⁻=
- Le fonctionnement du double circuit de la figure 4 est illustré par le chronogramme de la figure 5. Sur la première ligne est représenté le signal vidéo V. Sur les deux lignes suivantes sont représentées les deux impulsions d'échantillonnage ECH⁺ et ECH⁻. La quatrième ligne montre l'impulsion S⁺ qui définit l'état de l'interrupteur T1⁺ ainsi que, par complément, l'état de T3⁺, l'état de T1⁻ et l'état de T3⁻. La cinquième ligne montre l'impulsion S2⁺ qui définit l'état de l'interrupteur T2⁺, ainsi que, par complément, l'état de T2⁻. La dernière ligne montre le signal de sortie échantillonné et maintenu, alternativement positif S⁺ et négatif S⁻.
- Le circuit qui vient d'être décrit n'est pas limité à la commande des écrans d'affichage mais peut s'appliquer à d'autres techniques de, l'électronique.
Claims (2)
- Circuit de commande (CP) destiné à être intercalé entre, d'une part, la sortie (s) d'un circuit de commande (CC) comprenant des moyens d'échantillonnage (Ce, Te) d'un signal d'entrée, notamment d'un signal vidéo (V), et des moyens de stockage et de transfert (Cs) des échantillons obtenus, et, d'autre part, un plot de sortie (S) destiné à être relié à une charge extérieure devant recevoir lesdits échantillons, cette charge pouvant être, notamment, une colonne (C) d'afficheur à cristal liquide, ce circuit étant destiné à protéger les moyens du circuit de commande (CC) vis-à-vis de tensions excessives pouvant apparaître sur le plot de sortie (S), ce circuit de protection étant caractérisé par le fait qu'il comprend : un premier interrupteur électronique (T1) et un deuxième interrupteur (T2) montés en série et un troisième interrupteur électronique (T3) monté entre un point (m) situé entre le premier (T1) et le deuxième (T2) interrupteurs et un point (M) porté à un potentiel nul, et des moyens (20) pour délivrer des signaux (S1, S2, S3) de commande de ces interrupteurs (T1, T2, T3) pour, à chaque échantillon délivré par le circuit de commande :a) fermer le premier et le deuxième et ouvrir le troisième pour transférer l'échantillon du circuit de commande vers le plot de sortie (S),b) ouvrir le premier et le deuxième et fermer le troisième, pour ramener un potentiel nul entre le premier et le deuxième interrupteurs,c) fermer le deuxième, pour ramener le plot de sortie (S) à un potentiel nul.
- Circuit de protection selon la revendication 1, destiné à être intercalé entre, d'une part, un double circuit de commande (CC⁺, CC⁻) travaillant en alternance à partir de deux signaux d'entrée (V⁺, V⁻) de polarités opposées, et, d'autre part, un même plot de sortie (S), ce circuit de protection étant caractérisé par le fait qu'il est double et comprend deux circuits (CP⁺, CP⁻) commandés par des signaux complémentaires (S1⁺, S2⁺, S3⁺) (S1⁻, S2⁻, S3⁻).
