Abstract

The means is formed by a frame-like template having at least four frame pieces (1, 2, 3, 4) which are freely adjustable and can be fixed in any position. In this arrangement, the frame pieces can consist of a plurality of parts (5/6, 7/8), so that their length can be altered. On the stairs, the template is given the shape of the step to be covered; the covering material can then be cut at the work place with the aid of the template, which is considerably simpler than using cutouts made of paper. <IMAGE>

Description

If stairs of a winding staircase, in particular those in a staircase with a non-cylindrical boundary of the outer edge of the staircase, or steps of an irregularly extending staircase in the garden or other irregular, i.e. deviating from the rectangular shape, but flat pieces of surface are to be covered with any materials, such as ceramic tiles the part that is to be used to form the covering must be prepared first, or the sections that together form the covering must be prepared, ie cut out or otherwise brought into the correct shape, i.e. trimmed, before the laying work can be carried out. The dressing of such irregularly shaped floor covering parts can now usually not be carried out on the surface to be covered, since it is much too small for this. In particular when preparing parts for covering stairs, these parts cannot be cut into the required shape not on the stairs themselves, but possibly on an intermediate landing located between individual stairs or only at the end of the stairs. For this purpose, the outline of the area to be covered is recorded by transferring all the mass onto a paper or a paper is placed on the area to be covered and then the size of the area to be covered is cut out of the paper, so that afterwards at the end of the stairs With the help of the template so produced, those flooring parts can be equipped that have an irregular shape. Although the drawing transfer with a scale and pencil is rather cumbersome and the accuracy of this transfer work often leaves a lot to be desired, and even though cutting out paper templates is tedious and inaccurate, there is still no tool with which simple, work with greater accuracy and less time.

The present invention now aims to remedy this deficiency. This is due to the fact that a new aid has been found, which is characterized in that it is designed as a polygonal, flat, frame-like teaching, in which the angles which are formed by two frame legs articulated to one another at a frame corner are adjustable and can be fixed in any position, and that at least one frame leg can be changed in length by having at least two leg elements which can be displaced in their longitudinal direction, and connecting means for firmly but releasably connecting the leg elements to one another.

An embodiment of the invention is described below with reference to the drawing. In the drawing shows
  • 1 shows a reduced representation of the top view of an embodiment of an aid according to the invention and
  • 2 shows a plan view on a larger scale of a frame leg or a leg element.

As can be seen from Fig. 1, the subject matter of the invention is a frame-like teaching, which is formed here from four legs, which are labeled 1 to 4. The legs 1 and 2 are each formed by a flat bar provided with holes and slots. Such a flat bar is shown in FIG. 2. It is an Al rod of approx. 3 cm wide and approx. 3 mm thick, which is rounded at its ends so that the radius corresponds to half the rod width. At one end the rod 1 has a hole 1a and at the other end a hole extending in the longitudinal direction of the rod Slot 1b, the width of which corresponds to the diameter of the hole la. At each end of the rod there should either be a hole which is concentric with the rounding of the rod end, or a slot should extend to the center of the rounding of the rod, the slot here also expediently having a boundary line which is concentric with the outer contour of the rod . Of course, there may be further holes and further slits between the two ends of the rod, the cross-sectional shape described above and the choice of material specified being very expedient but not compelling. It is not necessary for the two legs 1 and 2 to have the same length.

The two other frame legs 3 and 4, which here connect the legs 1 and 2, each consist of two leg parts in the example shown, namely parts 5 and 6 on the one hand and parts 7 and 8 on the other hand. Leg parts 5 and 7 are designed similarly to the legs 1 and 2 already described above; however, it is useful if they are longer, at least twice as long as these legs 1 and 2. They also each have a hole 5a or 7a and a slot 5b or 7b, although of course there are several holes and several slots could.

The two other leg parts 6 and 8 are of essentially the same design, each also have a slot 6b or 8b in the exemplary embodiment shown and, in addition, a plurality of holes, only one of which is shown in the drawing and labeled 6a and 8a.

The two leg parts 5 and 6 are now firmly but releasably connected by two screws 9 and 10 and the associated wing nuts 11 and 12. The same applies to the leg elements 7 and 8, in which the screws are designated 13 and 14. The individual legs forming the entire frame are each at the corners of the frame by one with a Nut provided screw connected together. These screws are labeled 15 to 18.

The use of this device is very simple: The frame-like structure is placed on the step to be covered and in such a way that the leg parts 5/6 lie against the next higher step. Then the leg 3 formed by these two leg parts 5/6 is pulled out or shortened to the width of the step with loosened screws. Afterwards, the screw connections 9/11 and 10/12 are tightened and, when the screws 15 and 17 are loosened, the legs 1 and 2 are adjusted and moved until they rest against the lateral limitation of the steps. Then these screws are also tightened and the fourth leg 4, which is formed from the two leg parts 7 and 8, can be adjusted to the front edge of the step and fixed in this position by tightening the corresponding screws. With the shape of the stair tread to be covered, the material to be used for covering the step can now be given the correct shape at the workplace.

Of course, the use of additional legs is also possible, so that the teaching can also be used for working on stairs with five or more corners.
