Abstract

A hinged package (1) for food products, especially hamburgers, has two shaped halves (2, 3) which are recessed, joined together via a hinge (7), complement one another and can be folded into a closed position in which they enclose a receiving space for the food product. The closed position can be secured by closure parts (8, 9) on the shaped halves (2, 3). The shaped halves (2, 3) consist of baked dough. The hinge (7) also consists of an edible substance which, however, remains soft and flexible.

Description

The invention relates to a folding packaging for food, in particular hamburgers, with two hinged, recessed mold halves that complement one another and can be folded into a closed position in which they envelop a receiving space for the food, the closed position being closed by closure parts on the Mold halves can be secured. Such a folding packaging is known from US-A-4 787 552. Such folding packaging is used in particular in fast service restaurants for packaging food, in particular hamburgers, boulettes, schnitzel and corresponding side dishes.

Known folding packaging consists of foamed plastic. The two mold halves are made to hang together and are connected to each other via a hinge, the wall thickness in the area of the hinge advantageously being less than in the remaining area of the mold halves. In the ready-to-shoot state, the two mold halves are in an extended, open position, so that the through interior formed in both recesses is not yet provided contiguously. The food to be packaged is introduced into one half of the mold and the other half of the mold is folded over the hinge by approximately 180 ° in the direction of the first half of the mold, the closed position being reached. The food is completely enveloped by the folding packaging and the halves of the mold come into contact with one another with their edges. The closed position can expediently be secured by closure parts on the mold halves. For this purpose, an opening can be formed on one half of the mold and a flap can be formed on the other half of the mold, the flap being inserted into the opening in the closed position, so that the closed position is secured and the closed position is retained despite the resilience in the area of the hinge until the Closure parts are in turn detached from one another. Such folding packaging is used in particular for the out-of-home sale of freshly prepared, edible foods of the type mentioned. From DE-OS 36 39 185 a packaging made of organic substances in any shape for the introduction of food is known, which can be used as feed or as food. The packaging consists of two parts that can be plugged together and are made of a thin, liquid flour batter, for example as a waffle. The mutually facing edge region of the parts is stepped, so that here a plug connection can be formed, which can also be solidified with a flour, egg or sugar glue. The disadvantage of this known packaging is that it is not handled like the plastic folding packaging introduced. The stacking of the two related parts must be done very precisely, because otherwise the thin edges when joining the two Halves of the packaging are destroyed or at least damaged. Since the edges are stepped, a comparatively large wall thickness of the packaging must be selected in order to achieve the required strength in the edge area at all. It is also possible to additionally bake a part of the wafer. A pore closure of the parts of the packaging can be achieved by gelatin.

From FR-PS 26 28 398 a push-in packaging for hamburgers and similar dishes is known, in which two different, but mutually associated parts are also plugged together. The packaging consists of unleavened bread and can be seasoned accordingly. The two parts of the packaging can be placed one on top of the other or connected to one another via a kind of snap lock. The packaging is intended to be consumed together with the contents, i.e. without opening the packaging beforehand.

The invention has for its object to provide an effective remedy here and to provide a folding packaging of the type described above, which is easily degradable and in which the problem of disposal is largely alleviated.

According to the invention this is achieved in that the mold halves consist of baked dough and that the hinge is made of another edible material, which remains soft and flexible. The hinge can thus consist in particular of chewing gum, gelatin or wine gum. With the invention, an edible packaging is created, which is usually consumed in addition to the food transported in the packaging, so that the folding packaging in public places neither must still be collected is subject to waste disposal with subsequent landfill. The folding packaging, which is not consumed, is subject to rapid degradation by rotting if it is not eaten by birds and other animals. The mold halves themselves consist of baked dough, especially waffle dough, which can also be used in different flavors, tailored to the food to be packaged. In the case of a folding packaging for hamburgers, it is advisable not to use a sweet waffle dough, as is known for the production of ice cream cones, and instead to use a neutral, salty or seasoned dough. Baking the dough creates the mold halves with a sufficient wall thickness, which also withstands the stresses during transportation of the folding packaging filled with the food. The two mold halves are largely rigid and comparatively little flexible, while, conversely, the hinge connecting the two mold halves must consist of such an edible material that remains soft and flexible, so that the folding packaging can be closed in the closed position without the hinge becoming detached the mold halves. As a rule, however, the stress on the hinge is not very high. The hinge effect is usually only used twice, namely when closing and when opening before being consumed. If the packaged goods are partially consumed, a few more few folding operations can take place, so that the hinge is in any case free from permanent stress. In this respect, the hinge can consist of various edible substances. It can also be a z. B. sweet material can be used, which can have a certain dessert function. It goes without saying that the hinge must be attached to the two mold halves in such a way that on the one hand it fulfills the hinge function and on the other hand it prevents the hinge from being released from the mold halves before use.

It is possible for the two mold halves to be connected to one another only via the hinge in the case of separate production. In this case, it is possible to bake the two mold halves, which can also be of identical design, separately from one another and to connect them only by attaching the hinge. The hinge is usually only attached after the baking process.

However, it is also possible for the two mold halves to be baked together and for a perforation or other predetermined breaking point to be created in the area of the hinge. The predetermined breaking point is then bridged in whole or in part with one or more strips of the edible material that forms the hinge. The predetermined breaking point can also arise from a weak point, that is to say an area of correspondingly reduced wall thickness, at the transition point between the two mold halves. This predetermined breaking point can also be formed or prepared by subsequent punching out or the application of gates.

The folding packaging 1 shown in Figure 1 has two mold halves 2, 3, which are baked together from dough, similar to how this is done when baking waffles, ice cream cones and the like. Like. Is known. The two mold halves 2, 3 each have a recess 4, have a similar, complementary shape and can be folded from the flat position shown into a closed position in which the two recesses 4 release a receiving space for the food to be wrapped. In the transition area 5, the wall thickness is made smaller. A predetermined breaking point 6 in the form of a very thin web can also be provided here, which breaks through as soon as a certain pivoting angle of the two mold halves 2 and 3 is exceeded into the closed position. Perforation or punching in this area is also possible. The two mold halves 2 and 3 are bridged in this transition area by a hinge 7, which consists of a continuous strip of material made of an edible material that remains soft and flexible. Chewing gum, wine gum, a candy mass or the like are particularly suitable for this. It is important to choose such an edible material for forming the hinge 7, which on the one hand retains the required flexibility and on the other hand also forms the required connection with the dough of the two mold halves 2 and 3.

The two mold halves 2 and 3 have closure parts 8, 9, a tab 8 being provided on the mold half 2 and an opening 9 or an opening being provided on the molded part 3, the size and position of which are matched to one another. In the closed position, the tab 8 is inserted into the opening 9 and the closed position is thus secured, so that the hinged packaging 1 is closed and the enclosed food can be transported.

The embodiment of Figures 3 and 4 is constructed in a similar way to the folding packaging 1 according to the embodiment of Figures 1 and 2. There is only the difference here that the mold halves 2 and 3 are baked as separate parts and a transition area is missing. Instead, transition strips 10 and 11 are formed on the mold halves 2 and 3. The hinge 7 is formed here by several strips 12 which connect the two transition strips 10 and 11 to one another and can also extend to a certain depth into the wall of the mold halves 2 and 3.
