Description

  • The present invention relates to a hair waving device waving considerable practical advantages and aesthetic results compared with known devices employed for said purpose.
  • In known devices with a pincer structure an arm thereof has a straight and fixed linear form and in the closing motion the pincer fits into the corresponding recess in the form of a straight groove in the opposing arm of the pincer.
  • This type of device in general gives the hair regular, continuous and uniform waves, it not being possible to achieve a wave with variant form and appearance. In addition, to achieve good results long experience is necessary.
  • The device in accordance with the present invention makes it possible to achieve permanent waves in the hair with multiform and varied conformation and entirely new and original aesthetic effects and does not require long experience of the operator.
  • The device in accordance with the invention has a pincer structure and incorporated electric heating and is characterized in that on one arm of the pincer there is fixed a plate (3) in which are recessed two semicylindrical side seats (7) and (8) having notches (9) on the outer edges and including between them a flat rectangular seat (4) having in its length two recesses (5) and (6) in which the sliding element (10) engages and that on the other arm of the pincer is fixed a plate (23) in which is recessed a semicylindrical seat (24) having notches (25) on its edges, the diameter of the semicylindrical seat (24) being such that when the pincer is closed the two related edges place themselves opposite the bottom of the two seats (7) and (8) respectively.
  • The characteristics and advantages of the device in accordance with the invention are further explained in the following description in which reference is made to the annexed figures wherein:
    • FIG. 1 shows an exploded view of the device with one sliding element,
    • FIG. 2 shows the detail of the sliding element assembled with the plate,
    • FIG. 3 shows a lengthwise cross section of the device in the open position,
    • FIG. 4 shows the device closed, and
    • FIG. 5 shows the detail of the plate of the device in the embodiment with two sliding elements.
  • With reference to the various figures and the related reference numbers it is noted that the device in accordance with the invention has a pincer structure which is opened and closed by means of arms (14) and (26) rotating around a pin inserted in the holes (15) and (18).
  • At the end of the arm (14) is applied a boxed housing (1) having an insulating bottom on which is fixed the plate (3) after interposition of the electrical heating resistance (2).
  • The plate (3) has a form with three segments and on the sides the two semicylindrical recessed seats (7) and (8) and placed between the latter the flat rectangular seat (4).
  • The outer edges of said semicylindrical seats have notches with a triangular profile.
  • Said flat rectangular seat has in its length the two recesses (5) and (6) in which engage the sliding element (10) by means of the guide (12) and screw (15).
  • The element (10) has in addition to the guide (12) transverse grooves (11) with a profile in the form of a segment of a circle and a knob (13) the operation of which makes it is possible to shift forward and backward as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3. At the end of thr arm (26) a boxed housing is applied (21) having an insulating bottom on which is fixed the plate (23) after interposition of the electrical heating resistance (22).
  • The plate (23) has a semicylindrical recessed seat (24) the edges of which have notches with a rectangular profile.
  • The form of the plates (3) and (23) is such that in the closed position of the pincer the edges of the seat (24) arrange themselves opposite the bottom of the seats (7) and (8) respectively.
  • The electric power for heating the resistances (2) and (22) is fed through the electric cable (27).
  • The device in accordance with the invention can also be made with two sliding elements (31) and (32) as shown in FIG. 5 engaged in the recesses (in broken line) made in the flat seats (33) and (34) similarly to the description of the device with one sliding element. The two elements (31) and (32) are articulated together by a rocking element (35) in such a manner that by using the knob (36) the element (31) is moved forward while the element (32) moves backward and vice versa.
  • Between the flat seats (33) and (34) is made in said plate a semicylindrical seat (37).
  • In this embodiment the plate of the other arm is formed with two semicylindrical seats corresponding to the two elements (31) and (32) and having the middle edge in common and corresponding to the seat (37) and the notched side edges.
  • The plates are made of metal which is a good heat conductor and preferably of light aluminium alloy while the boxed housings are made of insulating material and preferably synthetic resin.
  • With the device having one sliding element the hair is waved by the following process:
    • a) the device is heated to the desired temperature,
    • b) The lock of hair is grasped while holding the sliding element in the retracted position,
    • c) the sliding element is slid forward and held in this position for 10-12 seconds,
    • d) the device is opened and moved to another position along the lock of hair,
    • e) the lock of hair is grasped,
    • f) The sliding element is returned to the retracted position and held in this position for 10-12 seconds,
    • g) the device is opened, moved along the lock of hair and the process is repeated starting with operation b) above.
  • With the element having two sliding elements the hair is waved as follows:
    • a) the device is heated to the desired temperature,
    • b) the lock of hair is grasped using the two parallel sliding elements,
    • c) the knob (36) is pulled so that the related sliding element moves forward while the other sliding element moves backward and is held in this position for 10-12 seconds,
    • d) the device is opened and moved to another position along the lock of hair,
    • e) the lock of hair is grasped,
    • f) the knob (36) is operated in such a manner that the two sliding elements move in the direction opposite that of operation c) above and held in this position for 10-12 seconds,
    • g) the device is opened, moved along the lock of hair and the process is repeated starting with operation b) above.
  • By using the device in accordance with the invention high-quality aesthetic results are achieved with no need of any particular experience by the operator.
