  • the concrete pillar is allowed to harden, after which it is removed from the support base and the rotating shaft.
  • the concrete pillar is ready after these operations. If a further treatment of the concrete pillar surface is desirable in order to achieve, e.g., better smoothness, this is performed using manual grinding tools. Such a working method is very cumbersome and time-consuming.
  • the production method in accordance with the invention is characterized in that the concrete pillar is allowed to harden while being attached to the rotating shaft, and after hardening, the surface of the pillar is ground with a grinding apparatus, and the concrete pillar is rotated on its rotating shaft either in the same rotating equipment in which the concrete pillars are shotcreted, or alternatively, in a separate grinding apparatus.
  • the grinding operation is reduced to a minimum and the centering of the pillar is easy in case it is transferred to a separate grinding apparatus.
  • a correctly dimensioned product is achieved with no need for posttreatment of its surface.
  • An embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the concrete pillar is continuously rotated with a simultaneous grinding of its surface with the help of, e.g., a high-RPM grinding disc.
  • the grinding disc is therein moved only along a vertically aligned track, whereby the surface of the concrete pillar rotating on its axis becomes ground.
  • Another embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the concrete pillar is rotated cyclically intermittently, and the surface of the concrete pillar is ground by one long side at a time using, e.g. a high-RPM grinding disc.

  • a further another embodiment of the invention is characterized in that, after grinding, the concrete pillar is cut off from the rotating shaft.
  • a long concrete pillar can directly be trimmed into concrete pillar products of desired length which need no further posttreatment.

  • the concrete pillar is allowed to harden while being attached to the rotating shaft 2, either in the above-described shotcreting apparatus, or alternatively, in a separate location reserved for hardening.
  • the surface of the concrete pillar is ground by rotating the pillar on the shaft 2, simultaneously grinding its surface by means of a grinding apparatus 5 having a high-RPM grinding disc 6 attached to it. The grinding operation is performed from up downwards as indicated by the arrow.
  • the concrete pillar is cut off from its rotating shaft 2. While the concrete pillar shown in the example has a circular cross section, angled and even more complex cross-sectional shapes are equally possible. The surface can also be decoratively ground into different kinds of patterns.
