L'ensemble cage et corps de centrage est fiché dans la douille. Un élément de serrage est vissé sur l'extrémité supérieure de la cage de manière à fixer solidairement l'ensemble sur le bracelet par pincement de celui-ci entre l'embase de la cage et ledit élément de serrage. Pour varier la présentation, l'utilisateur changera l'élément de serrage en placecontre un autre, d'un aspect différent. Cette pièce d'horlogerie nécessite un grand nombre de pièces; sa fabrication est donc relativement onéreuse. Ensuite, le bracelet joue un rôle fonctionnel, ce qui limite son domaine d'application. Le fait de devoir visser (ou fixer par le procédé baïonnette) l'élément de serrage, qui est en même temps l'élément de décor, contre le bracelet, est un autre inconvénient: pour éviter toute perte de l'élément-décor, le couple de serrage doit être assez élevé. Cet élément doit donc être suffisamment solide. Les possibilités esthétiques sont par conséquent plus que limitées, puisque l'emploi de décors fins et délicats est exclu. De plus, si le bracelet est en matière souple, le serrage de l'élément de maintien sur lui conduira tôt ou tard à des dégradations, pour peu que l'on échange un décor contre un autre. Enfin, le décor sera toujours d'une seule pièce à alésage central circulaire.
