Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a plastic shoe made of a foam-foaming plastic, preferably polyurethane, which has a steel toe in its toe area. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for producing such a plastic shoe, in which the plastic is inserted into an open lower mold part, then a last is used as the mold core and then an upper mold part is placed on the lower mold part.
Shoes made of polyurethane are worn in butchers' wet areas, for example, because, unlike leather shoes, they are very easy to clean and disinfect. A large number of plastic shoe of the above type is known under the name "Jollys". This shoe is worn in the leisure area, especially in gardening, but also in operating rooms of hospitals and in the commercial sector.
For numerous applications, the shoe must have a steel toe (see AT-B-356541). For shoes with a steel toe cap, this is usually glued into the shoe. Such a manufacturing process would be undesirably expensive for a plastic shoe, since the gluing of steel caps would require an additional, time-consuming work step. The introduction of the steel cap into the mold leads to difficulties because, when the mold is foamed, air collects in the upper area of the steel cap and therefore no plastic gets there, so that the steel cap remains unpadded in this area. One could, of course, counter this maladministration by completely padding the steel cap on the inside. However, this would have the disadvantage that it would only be surrounded on one side by the plastic of the shoe and would therefore be less firmly anchored in the plastic. If you push from the front, the cap could slide backwards in the shoe.
In rubber and PVC boots, it is also known to overmold a steel cap on the outside. In the manufacture of such boots, however, the plastic is injected into a closed mold (injection molding), so that the aforementioned problems due to air pockets do not occur.
The invention has for its object to design a plastic shoe of the type mentioned in such a way that its steel toe is completely surrounded on its inside with cushioning material and is anchored as firmly as possible in the toe. Furthermore, a method for producing such a shoe is to be developed.
The first-mentioned object is achieved according to the invention in that the steel toe has air-absorbing padding in its upper area and is embedded in the plastic of the shoe in the remaining area.
With this design according to the invention, the steel toe of the plastic shoe is reliably anchored in the plastic of the shoe in the lower region due to the complete plastic enclosure. In the adjoining, upper area, the padding is on the inside, so that the foot cannot come into direct contact with the steel cap anywhere. During the manufacture of the shoe, the padding absorbs air that is displaced by the foaming plastic in the toe area and partially directs it from the top. Therefore, air bubbles cannot prevent the inside of the steel cap from being foamed with plastic foam and thus prevent it from being reliably anchored. The padding therefore not only has the function of cushioning the inside of the steel toe in the finished shoe, but rather serves to exclude air pockets in the plastic during manufacture.
Without the upholstery according to the invention, there would be the danger during foaming that air would be pushed out of the critical area under the steel cap towards the end of the foaming process and would then be caught in the already reacted plastic foam in the shaft area, so that there would be voids.
The second task, namely the creation of a method for producing the plastic shoe, is achieved according to the invention in that a steel cap is applied to the tip of the last with a small distance from the last surface, which has an air-absorbing padding exclusively in its upper region.
This procedure ensures that no air bubbles can collect in the upper cap area when foaming, which would result in unpadded cap areas. It is also achieved that the steel cap is reliably anchored in the plastic in the lower area.
In shoe manufacture, the steel toe cap only needs to be placed on the last by hand if magnets are attached to the last as a spacer for the steel toe. These magnets are able to hold the steel cap sufficiently firmly in the mold when it is being foamed so that it does not slip.
The steel toe is embedded particularly firmly in the plastic of the shoe if a steel toe is used which projects with a flanged area into the sole of the plastic shoe.
The required spacers do not lead to places where there is no plastic foam or padding material if the spacers are arranged exclusively in the area of the padding and the flanged area.
