Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a facade cladding according to the preamble of claim 1.
With such a facade cladding, the individual facade elements, which are preferably formed from sheet metal shells, are fixed in the area of the horizontal joints both in the horizontal and in the vertical direction. In the area of the vertical joints, it may be sufficient for the edges of the facade elements to be angled inwards, so that the entry of water is prevented, but good ventilation is ensured. The joints can also be covered over their entire or part of their length by a seal.
With such a design of the vertical side edges of the facade elements, however, the visible side of the facade cladding is not consistently formed from the same material, rather it is either sealing strips or spaces with a possible view of the substructure, which can disturb the overall visual impression. If the facade elements are particularly long in their vertical extension, it may also be expedient to also fix them on the vertical joints against the substructure and against one another in order to avoid deformations or vibrations as a result of wind.
The invention has for its object to provide the vertical joints in a facade cladding of the type mentioned so that they are optically adapted to the other facade areas, the entry of water behind the facade elements prevented, but the unimpeded entry of air should be ensured. Furthermore, the side edges should be fixed in relation to the substructure and against each other.
This object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1. Due to the specified type of edge bending, the edge sections of adjacent facade elements overlap, so that the material of the facade elements is continuously visible on the outside of the facade cladding. Air circulation is also possible in the horizontal direction without the risk of water ingress.
The vertical side edges are expediently defined by the features of claim 2. The profile pieces are expediently made of a hard plastic or aluminum and can be fastened to the facade substructure, for example by being accommodated in a corresponding recess in a component of the substructure with a clamp fit. Since the profile pieces are arranged at a distance from one another, they impair the desired air circulation of the ventilated facade cladding practically not, whereby they ensure sufficient mutual attachment of the lateral edge sections of adjoining facade elements.
Claims 3 and 4 relate to advantageous configurations of the vertical edges at the transition between two facade elements arranged one above the other.

The
As can be seen in particular from Fig. 1, the U-shaped
In the area of the
