Claims (1)
- A feeder for supplying the most uniform possible textile fibre lap to a card, comprising essentially a hopper (2) fed with fibre tufts (1) by a fan and provided with a fibre level monitoring cell (3) which controls the starting and stoppage of the fan, a hopper lattice (5) extending beneath the hopper, a spiked lattice (6) receiving the fibres fed by the hopper lattice (5), a cell (7) monitoring the thickness of the fibre pad (4) on the spiked lattice (6), a variable-spacing and oscillatory-wall hopper (11) fed by the spiked lattice (6) and having, at the bottom, delivery rollers (12) co-operating with a feed lattice (13) feeding the card (14), characterised in that the hopper lattice (5) is continuously driven at variable speed controlled by the thickness monitoring cell (7) for the fibre pad (4) on the spiked lattice (6), the position of the cell (7) relative to the spiked lattice (6) and to the hopper lattice (5) being controllable, in that the hopper (2) is also provided, at its outlet, above the hopper lattice (5), with a fibre flow control reel (8), in that a variable speed control roller (9) co-operates with the spiked lattice (6) to control the fibre pad received by the latter, and in that the hopper (11) is provided with two level monitoring cells (15) and (16) disposed with vertical spacing and controlling a speed control means for the spiked lattice (6), delivery rollers (12) and control roller (9) respectively to maximum speed when the level of fibres in the hopper (11) is below the bottom cell (15), to normal speed when the bottom cell (15) is occulted and when the top cell (16) is clear, and to minimum speed when the two cells are occulted.
