Definitions
- the present invention relates to a mobile ventilation installation provided for a work station whose atmosphere is vitiated by solvent vapors, toxic gases or dust which we want to protect the operators of the station.
- document FR-A-2 551 366 describes a ventilation installation for a paint booth consisting of a closed enclosure surmounted by a ventilation plenum blowing air into said booth, this air, charged with pollutants emitted on the work area, being vacuumed by the floor. Installations of this type provide ventilation and extraction of pollutants over the entire volume of the cabin.
- the document FR-A-2,534,155 describes, for example, a paint booth comprising compartments each connected to an air supply duct and to an extraction duct with shutter means which can be controlled for limit the ventilated area to only one of these compartments.
- the work station moves along this room and the shutters are controlled to ventilate the only compartment where it is located. Substantial energy savings are achieved with installations of this type.
- the object of the invention is to propose a ventilation installation which does not have the drawbacks mentioned above.
- the object of the invention is to provide a ventilation installation whose installed power is low compared to the installations of the prior art having the same floor area, the ventilated surface of which can move at the same time as the area of work, and which is accessible by handling equipment.
- the invention therefore relates to an installation for ventilating a work area comprising a blowing plenum overhanging a grating mounted on a pit maintained in depression to form an extraction area where the air blown by the plenum and charged with pollutants emitted on the work area is extracted.
- the plenum has a blowing surface less than the total surface of the installation pit and is mounted on a plenum-carrying carriage which can move over the entire length of the installation, and means are provided to limit the extraction area on the grating to an area substantially corresponding to the blowing surface of the plenum projected on the grating, this area moving together with the carriage supporting the plenum.
- the pit is divided by transverse walls forming two by two transverse gutters, these walls connecting a wall forming one of the longitudinal edges of the pit to a second wall constituting, with the wall of the other longitudinal edge of the pit, a longitudinal channel, this longitudinal channel being maintained in depression by means of a suction fan, and the means for limiting the extraction area consist in establishing communication between the transverse channels which are under the plenum and the longitudinal channel, and block the passage of air between the transverse channels which are not under the plenum and the longitudinal channel.
- the means for limiting the extraction area comprise a mat which is stretched longitudinally between the two ends of the ventilation installation, which covers, with part of its width, the gutter longitudinal and, on the other part of its width, part of the length of the transverse channels, which is pressed against the wall separating the transverse channels from the longitudinal channel which obstructs the passage of air between these channels, and which passes under the plenum-carrying carriage where it is lifted to form a passage between the longitudinal channel and the transverse channels located under the plenum with the side walls of said carriage, in order to maintain the surface of the grating which is just below the blowing surface of the plenum, the air blown and charged with pollutants emitted on the work area being then entrained in the transverse gutters then in dan s the longitudinal channel before being expelled.
- openings are provided in the wall separating the transverse channels and the longitudinal channel in order to maintain at least a predetermined minimum depression on the surface of the grating.
- the mat is raised under the plenum-carrying carriage by means of rollers.
- the ventilation system shown in FIG. 1 comprises a pit 1 divided by transverse walls 2 forming two by two transverse channels 3, the number of which is proportional to the length of the ventilation installation.
- the transverse walls 2 connect a wall 4 forming one of the two longitudinal edges of the pit to a wall 5.
- the transverse channels 3 are covered with a grating 8 of length equal to that of the pit 1 and of smaller width, for reasons mentioned below, to the length of the transverse walls 3.
- At the end of the longitudinal channel 7, is mounted an extraction chimney 9 inside which is placed a suction fan 10 maintaining said longitudinal channel 7 in depression.
- a carriage 11 On the two walls 5, 6 constituting the longitudinal channel 7, moves, over the entire length of the installation, a carriage 11 on which are fixed two uprights 12, 13 supporting at their upper end a plenum 14.
- This is of generally parallelepiped shape and is connected, via a box 15, to a duct 16 at the end of which is connected a blower unit 17.
- the duct 16 is a duct of variable length and can be, for example, a flexible circular sheath can be folded into an accordion.
- the plenum 14 overhangs the grating 8 over a part of its length and over its entire width, thus delimiting a blowing area on the grating.
- the surface of the plenum 14 facing the grating 8 is provided to receive a filter (not shown) which has the functions of purifying the air and making the flow of blowing air homogeneous.
- Two brackets 18, 19 are provided to reinforce the fixing of the plenum 14 on the uprights 12, 13.
- the carriage 11 consists of a box shown here, without limitation, by two stairs 20, 21, a platform 22 and two side walls 23, 24. It is intended to move over the entire length of the installation and comprises for this purpose two carrier rollers 25, 26 of which at least one is driven by a motor (not shown).
- a mat 27 of elongated rectangular shape is stretched longitudinally between the two ends of the ventilation installation and covers, with part of its width, the entire length of the longitudinal channel 7 and, on the other part of its width, the part of the length of the transverse gutters 3 which is not covered by the grating 8. It passes under the starting steps of the stairs 20, 21 and inside the carriage 11. The path which it follows under the carriage is shown in more detail in Fig. 3.
- the blower unit 17 draws the air outside and supplies it, via the duct 16 and the box 15, to the plenum 14. It can also raise its temperature, in particular in winter to heat the ventilation air.
- the air in overpressure in the plenum 14 passes through the filter of the plenum, where it is purified and its flow made homogeneous, and is blown vertically on an area of the quail 8 below the blowing surface.
- the suction fan 10 creates a depression in the longitudinal channel 7. However, outside the area where the carpet 27 passes under the carriage 11, the carpet 27 is kept pressed against the wall 5 obstructing the passage of air between the longitudinal channel 7 and the transverse channels 3.
- the belt 27 is raised above the wall 5 and, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, forms with the walls 23, 24 of the carriage 11 a passage between the transverse channels 3 and the longitudinal channel 7.
- the vacuum created by the suction fan 10 in the longitudinal channel 7 is transmitted to the transverse channels 3 which are located under the plenum 14 (Fig. 3). Therefore, the air blown by the plenum 14 and loaded with polluting agents emitted on the work area passes through the grating 8, where it is purified by a dry filter (not shown), and is entrained in the transverse gutters 3. It then passes into the carriage 11, where, guided by the walls 23, 24 and the belt 27, it straddles the wall 5, and is driven in the longitudinal channel 7 to the chimney 9 where it is expelled.
- the ventilated zone is located under the plenum 14. If the part to be treated is long, its treatment is carried out starting from one end and going to the other, which makes it necessary to move the ventilated zone . For this, it suffices to move, as the treatment progresses, the carriage 11 which then drives the plenum 14 and displaces the area where the mat 27 is raised. The extraction area is therefore moved and, this, together with the plenum.
- the volume of air displaced is limited by the blowing surface of the plenum 14 and by the area of the extraction zone.
- the power of the blower unit 17 and the suction fan 10 is independent of the length of the installation, which has an advantage compared to the installation of prior art.
- the installation of the invention is accessible to handling machines on three sides of the ventilated area, which is advantageous when the parts to be treated are heavy and / or bulky.
- the trolley at one end of the installation the surface of the grating is completely free for access with an overhead crane or another handling machine.
- holes 32 are provided between the transverse channels 3 and the longitudinal channel 7 which have effect of permanently putting the areas not ventilated by the plenum 14 in depression. This depression is sufficient to allow most of the pollutants emitted after the treatment operation to be sucked into the transverse channels 3 and to pass through the longitudinal channel 7 before being expelled outside. It is, moreover, such that the concentration of pollutants in these non-ventilated areas corresponds to a level of pollution considered to be acceptable.
- Ventilation installation for example, spray painting installations or application of synthetic resins, sanding or deburring operations, etc.
Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a mobile ventilation installation provided for a work station whose atmosphere is vitiated by solvent vapors, toxic gases or dust which we want to protect the operators of the station.
Installations of this type are known. For example, document FR-A-2 551 366 describes a ventilation installation for a paint booth consisting of a closed enclosure surmounted by a ventilation plenum blowing air into said booth, this air, charged with pollutants emitted on the work area, being vacuumed by the floor. Installations of this type provide ventilation and extraction of pollutants over the entire volume of the cabin.
They are perfectly suited to workstations where treatments are carried out on small parts. In fact, to ensure effective downdraft ventilation, the speed of the blown air must be at least equal to that which allows most of the pollutants emitted into the atmosphere to be removed before they are breathed by operators. However, the supply air flow is proportional, on the one hand, to this speed and, on the other hand, to the ventilated surface and can therefore, in the case where the dimensions of the parts to be treated are large, reach values particularly high. These large supply air flow values imply high energy consumption, all the more it is necessary to provide, for winter, a system for heating the intake air. Installations of the type described in the document mentioned above therefore require significant installed power, which results in high investment and operating costs.
We tried to overcome these drawbacks by dividing the volume of the cabin into compartments, each of which is connected to a plenum. The document FR-A-2,534,155 describes, for example, a paint booth comprising compartments each connected to an air supply duct and to an extraction duct with shutter means which can be controlled for limit the ventilated area to only one of these compartments. When the rooms are long, the work station moves along this room and the shutters are controlled to ventilate the only compartment where it is located. Substantial energy savings are achieved with installations of this type.
However, they have the drawback of not being accessible to handling equipment, such as overhead traveling cranes. Indeed, in the case of treatment of parts of large volumes and / or weight, it is desirable to have machines which can deposit and / or move them, which requires providing for the accessibility of the installation according to the minus three sides.
The object of the invention is to propose a ventilation installation which does not have the drawbacks mentioned above. The object of the invention is to provide a ventilation installation whose installed power is low compared to the installations of the prior art having the same floor area, the ventilated surface of which can move at the same time as the area of work, and which is accessible by handling equipment.
The invention therefore relates to an installation for ventilating a work area comprising a blowing plenum overhanging a grating mounted on a pit maintained in depression to form an extraction area where the air blown by the plenum and charged with pollutants emitted on the work area is extracted.
According to a characteristic of the invention, the plenum has a blowing surface less than the total surface of the installation pit and is mounted on a plenum-carrying carriage which can move over the entire length of the installation, and means are provided to limit the extraction area on the grating to an area substantially corresponding to the blowing surface of the plenum projected on the grating, this area moving together with the carriage supporting the plenum.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the pit is divided by transverse walls forming two by two transverse gutters, these walls connecting a wall forming one of the longitudinal edges of the pit to a second wall constituting, with the wall of the other longitudinal edge of the pit, a longitudinal channel, this longitudinal channel being maintained in depression by means of a suction fan, and the means for limiting the extraction area consist in establishing communication between the transverse channels which are under the plenum and the longitudinal channel, and block the passage of air between the transverse channels which are not under the plenum and the longitudinal channel.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the means for limiting the extraction area comprise a mat which is stretched longitudinally between the two ends of the ventilation installation, which covers, with part of its width, the gutter longitudinal and, on the other part of its width, part of the length of the transverse channels, which is pressed against the wall separating the transverse channels from the longitudinal channel which obstructs the passage of air between these channels, and which passes under the plenum-carrying carriage where it is lifted to form a passage between the longitudinal channel and the transverse channels located under the plenum with the side walls of said carriage, in order to maintain the surface of the grating which is just below the blowing surface of the plenum, the air blown and charged with pollutants emitted on the work area being then entrained in the transverse gutters then in dan s the longitudinal channel before being expelled.
According to another characteristic of the invention, openings are provided in the wall separating the transverse channels and the longitudinal channel in order to maintain at least a predetermined minimum depression on the surface of the grating.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the mat is raised under the plenum-carrying carriage by means of rollers.
- Fig. 1 represents a perspective view of a ventilation installation of a work area according to the invention,
- Fig. 2 is a sectional view along the axis II / II of FIG. 1 and
- Fig. 3 is a sectional view along the axis III / III of FIG. 2.
The ventilation system shown in FIG. 1 comprises a
The operation of the ventilation installation according to the invention is now described. The
With this installation, the ventilated zone is located under the
The volume of air displaced is limited by the blowing surface of the
Furthermore, the installation of the invention is accessible to handling machines on three sides of the ventilated area, which is advantageous when the parts to be treated are heavy and / or bulky. In addition, by moving the trolley at one end of the installation, the surface of the grating is completely free for access with an overhead crane or another handling machine.
In the case of treatments where the emanation of toxic products still takes place after the treatment operation itself, the fact of having moved the
There are many applications of a ventilation installation according to the invention, for example, spray painting installations or application of synthetic resins, sanding or deburring operations, etc.
