<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Treat device with qedwonqen air circulation.
The invention relates to a treatment device for b. v. objects to be cleaned and / or coated with sprayed coatings in which a forced air circulation is applied.
Such devices, e.g. spray areas for objects to be painted, such as cars or furniture and sanding booths with dust extraction, are generally known. They usually comprise a spatial arrangement in which suction channels are provided in or near the floor for the air flow to be exhausted from the treatment zone. A fan is then placed in these channels, which recirculates the extracted current upwards through a channel which extends above the object to be treated. The airflow then exits this channel downwards again through an outflow opening covered with a filter plate or cloth.
In the treatment zone of this known device, a downward directed air flow is thus applied over or near the object to be treated. However, this airflow can often cause an undesirable draft at the level of the treating person, thereby reaching a speed hero of 0.5 m / s because the flow must be sufficiently intense (speed at least 0.3 m / s) to ensure an almost stable laminar regime. to ensure. When painting sanding dust in preparation areas or using compressed air to blow off sanding dust on preparation areas, it must be ensured, for ergonomic reasons, that the atomized paint solution or dust does not flow back to the operator of the sprayer or the compressed air gun in a turbulent movement: the mist remains drift downwards away from the operator.
Analogously, the generated dust clouds must be driven downwards in the sanding zones.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In order to ensure the above protection, a sufficiently large airflow flow must be realized over the working surface around the object to be treated, e.g. a car to be abraded. For a workstation or workstation with a floor area of eg 3.5m x 6m and for a car of 1.6mx 4.2m, the working area is therefore (3.5 x 6) - (1.6 x 4.2) = 14.3 m2. The corresponding required air flow rate is then 14.3 x 0.3 m / s x 3600 = 15,000 m3 / hour. In order to prevent underpressure in the studio building and / or to cool down the heated workshop, the extracted air is recirculated upwards and passed through filters and dedusted there. The purified air is blown back to the workstation.
(In the case of spraying, the solvents are either absorbed in a solvent filter or the solvent-laden air is blown out.) However, for practical and economical construction, the same air flow rate is blown back to the workstation over a more limited filter surface. For a filter window area of 2m2, the downward airflow in the example through the filter window diameter will be 15000: (3600 x 2) = 2 m / s. This blow-out speed of 2 m / s in the currently known versions is too high and gives an impermissible draft effect (from speeds above 0.5 m / s). However, if the air flow rate is set lower, the protection of the worker remains too weak due to insufficient extraction speed.
It is therefore a drawback of the known treatment devices that a satisfactory compromise is very difficult between a sufficiently high airflow velocity for a laminar flow and a not too high a speed in order to avoid drafts, because the extraction area is always much larger than the blowing area.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In addition, the air flow to the treatment zone moves downward through the filter in the outflow opening, loading this filter at its top, thereby clogging it. The filter mats must therefore be replaced regularly when the device is used, for example, as a sanding zone.
The invention avoids these drawbacks by providing a device for treating an object in a treatment zone with forced air circulation, comprising a spatial framework in which a suction channel with relatively large extraction opening is provided near its bottom (due to the large dimensions of the objects to be treated such as vehicles ). A fan has been placed in this channel, to which an outflow channel is connected downstream and flows into the same building. However, at least one outflow opening for the recirculated air is located at the top of the outflow channel. Thus, in use, at least a portion of the airflow exits the channel in an upward direction, preferably above the level of the treatment zone and in particular above this zone itself.
This measure avoids the creation of drafts. After all, by blowing out the airflow completely at the top of the outflow channel at, for example, 2 m / s, the draft only arises in the upper part of the building (above about 3 m height). At the workstation itself, one only feels the homogeneous discharge at a speed of about 0.3 m / s. Since the draft effect on the workstation no longer occurs, the fan flow rate can be increased in order to ensure good extraction and better protection of the worker against dust and solvent mist.
Preferably, at least the end of the outflow channel will extend above the treatment zone for the object to be treated.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
When the outflowing air has to be filtered, the filter plate will thus close the outflow opening at the top of the channel. As a result, the filter plate is loaded at the bottom and can therefore be easily cleaned in situ. Maintenance and replacement of the filters is therefore no longer necessary. Malfunction due to negligence in filter replacement according to the presently known embodiments is avoided. More specifically, the arrangement according to the invention with the filters which are now no longer clogging allows the air flow to continue to circulate freely in the building.
In this way, suppression and associated draft effects at door, vent and gate openings of the building are avoided, and the heated air remains in the building.
The invention will now be further elucidated with reference to a number of embodiments with reference to the accompanying figures.
Figure 1 shows a side view of the treatment device according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a front view thereof and
Figure 3 is a top view thereof.
The spatial arrangement of the framework 1 usually comprises a pair of horizontally extending and suitably supported (e.g. suspended) beams 17 in which, among other things, a. The lighting 18 for the workstation can be mounted and on which curtains 19 or other walls are attached for separating neighboring workstations. In the treatment space or zone 7 bounded by this, the vertical duct arrangement 2.5 with fan 4 is mounted at least at one end for the air circulation unit.
The relatively large extraction opening 3 is located either in the floor below the treatment zone 7 and above an underground duct 2, or against the floor, near the extraction fan 4.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
During operation, the fan pushes the extracted (dust or mist-laden) air upwards through the outflow channel 6. The horizontal section of channel 6 is provided at the top with outflow openings 8 for the recirculated air. These openings 8 are closed, if necessary, with filter plates 9. The outflow openings 8 are relatively small in relation to the extraction openings 3. This limits the weight of the construction and increases the outflow velocity in opening 9 t. o. v. the extraction speed in opening 3.
At the same time, it increases the free access of natural light from the roof windows of the building to the workstations, which makes working more pleasant and reduces the consumption of artificial light. The downwardly directed airflow to be extracted in opening 3 is composed of air located above and in the workspace around the object to be treated in zone 7. Part of the air flowing upwards from opening 8 will thus be bent around the channel during operation. 6 (dot / dash arrows).
When the air flowing upwards from opening 8 during operation is loaded with particles to be separated, e.g. in sanding zones, the filter plate 9 on its lower surface will stop these (dust) particles. This makes it easier to clean in situ than when the particles are on top of the filter top surface as in the prior art treatment devices.
Means 10 such as, for example, vibration motors can periodically vibrate the filter plates, whereby the particles collected at the bottom of the filter plate then fall down into a collection space 11 in the bottom of the section of the outflow channel 6 above the treatment zone 7. The stored dust on the bottom of the air duct remains there with further use of the device and will not be able to contaminate the filter a second time as the air flow moves above it. From time to time (e.g. annual
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
The collected particles 12 can then be removed from this space 11 via, for example, a valve 21 near the end of the channel 6.
The filter plate or plates 9 can be flat or corrugated or built up of successive zig-zag pleated strips.
The latter versions ensure a larger filter area than flat plates. The actual filter medium is a surface filter and comprises, for example, a non-woven fiber web.
If it is desired to have the option of not having to recirculate at least a part of the upwardly directed airflow in channel 6 over the treatment zone 7, the device can be provided with a branch channel 14 with outlet 15. This channel 14 then connects to channel 5 between the fan 4 and the outflow opening 8. At the location of the connection, means 16, eg a motor-controlled control valve, can be provided for distributing the flow between outlet 15 and opening 8. The valves 16 can be switched to a position via a switch "sanding" (airflow direction to filter 8) resp.
"spraying" (airflow direction to outlet 15). The outlet 15 can, if desired, be connected through the roof 13 to the outside atmosphere.
The devices according to the invention can be stationary or mounted on a chassis. In both cases they are particularly suitable for use as a sanding zone for eg vehicles.
