  • the slidable carriage is held in position by a manually releasable clamp. On releasing the clamp the slidable carriage is moveable manually to adjust the length of the adhesive tape path between the printer and the adhesive tape tie forming mechanism. The slidable carriage is then re-clamped into the new position.

  • Paper tape from the reel 19 is adhered in spaced lengths to the adhesive tape as fully described in our earlier specifications.
  • the follow up-member 11 returns to its initial position and the pneumatic ram 10 is deactuated so that it returns out of the path of the following gathered together neck of the bag and then the cycle is repeated.
  • Adhesive tape 38 is pulled from the adhesive tape reel 17 and engages the belt 27 of the print shift unit 26 before it passes to the feed rollers 21 and 25 and then to the tie forming mechanism.
  • the print head from the print unit 18 engages the non-adhesive side of the adhesive tape 38 at regular intervals at a position opposite that of the plattern 32.
  • the plattern 32 gives a firm support to the belt 27 thereby enabling the print head from the print unit 18 to print evenly on the adhesive tape 38 without distorting it.
  • the path length of the adhesive tape 38 between the print head and the tie forming mechanism can be altered thereby adjusting the position of the print on the completed adhesive tape tie. This adjustment is achieved by disengaging the clamp 33 and moving the slidable carriage 31 manually up or down as seen in Figure 2. The clamp 33 is then used to lock the slidable carriage 31 in to its new position.
