Description

The invention relates to a luminaire for a fluorescent lamp with a translucent protective tube enclosing the lamp according to the features of the preamble of claim 1.

Luminaires of this type, which are designed for increased protection conditions, have such protective tubes, which are overlapped at the ends by screw rings, which are screwed tightly and tightly to the sockets and which accommodate seals at their free ends and carry seals which bear against the protective tube. Such lights have proven themselves, but their installation is difficult: The fluorescent lamps have pairs of contact pins at the end, which are inserted laterally into the voltage-carrying sockets, whereupon the lamp must be rotated by 90 ° so that the contact pins get into the contact-making position of the socket and further the lamp is prevented from sliding out of the socket by itself. A certain amount of force is required for this rotary movement and also for the lateral insertion, this presupposes that the lamp can also be properly gripped manually. However, the protective tube prevents this manual access. To solve this problem it has already been proposed according to DE-A-37 40 701 to provide holding elements covered by the screw rings, which center the protective tube and the fluorescent lamp and which connect the fluorescent lamp and the protective tube to one another in a rotationally fixed manner. The holding element is designed as a pot-like plug with a bottom and a circumferential wall, openings being arranged in the bottom for the passage of the contact pins of the fluorescent lamp. Short ribs or webs are integrally formed on the outer sides of the peripheral wall of the pot-like plug, which positively engage in corresponding, slot-like notches on the end face of the protective tube and thus effect this rotationally fixed coupling between the protective tube on the one hand and the fluorescent lamp on the other. Such slit notches on the Arranging the end face of protective tubes is difficult, especially if these protective tubes are made of glass.

This is where the invention comes in, which aims to improve this previously known construction in such a way that the arrangement of notches on the end faces of the protective tube can be dispensed with, without the assembly itself being made more difficult or impaired thereby.

The invention proposes to solve this problem those measures, the content and subject of the characterizing part of the claim 1 are.

In order to illustrate the invention, exemplary embodiments are explained in more detail with reference to the drawing. 1 and 2 show a longitudinal section through one end of a lamp, the two representations illustrating different moments when the lamp is inserted; Figure 3 is a view of the disc along the section line III-III in Figure 1; Figure 4 is a view corresponding to Figure 3, but in a different embodiment; Fig. 5 shows a longitudinal section through a further embodiment of the invention.

The luminaire shown in Figures 1 and 2 has a basically known structure: on a lamp bar 1, in which the wiring and the equipment necessary for the operation of the fluorescent lamp 2, versions 3 are provided at the end, with the usual rotary star to the side Insert the contact pins 4 of the lamp 2 and then turn the lamp by 90 °, thereby bringing the contact pins 4 into the contact-making position with the live parts of the socket 3. The lamp 2 is surrounded by a translucent protective tube 5 which, as can be seen from FIGS. 1 and 2, is almost as long as the lamp 2. To seal the lamp to the outside, screw rings 6 are provided at the end with an outer seal 7 which abuts the outer circumference of the protective tube 5, and with an internal thread 8, which can be screwed onto the external thread 9 of the socket 3. Near the internal thread 8 of the screw ring 6 and spaced from a holder 10 for the seal 7, nose-like projections 11 are arranged along the inner circumference of the inner wall of the screw ring 6 at equal intervals, which have a wedge-like suit 12 with an adjoining, radially outward offset section 13, so that a paragraph is formed.

In the end region of the protective tube 5, a disc 14 is provided with a central, elongated recess 15 through which the contact pins 4 of the lamp 2 protrude. The edge 16 of this disc 14 is flanged and directed against the protective tube 5. The flanged edge 16 of the disk 14 also has a radially projecting ring zone 17. In this ring zone 17, a plurality of U-shaped cutouts 18 are provided which are arranged at equal distances from one another. The number of these cutouts 18, their distribution and their arrangement corresponds to the number, arrangement and distribution of the nose-like projections 11 on the screw ring 6.

The boundary surface 19 provided between the two legs of each cutout 18 is expediently slightly inclined, the angle of inclination, based on the axis of the lamp 2, opening outwards. The radial distance 20 of this boundary surface 19 is slightly larger than the radial distance 21 of the highest points of the nose-like projections 11.

So much for the design features of the lamp. Before the luminaire is delivered from the factory, washer 14 and screw ring 6 are put together. With appropriate radial positioning of the washer 14 and screw ring 6, the two parts are joined together in the direction of their axis. Due to the mentioned radial dimensions 20 and 21 and the formation of the projections 11 with a wedge-like suit 12, this is possible without any special effort. If the disc 14 is inserted in this way into the screw ring 6, so that its ring zone 17 with the cutouts 18, seen in the axial direction of the screw ring 6, lies between the holder 10 for the seal 7 and the projections 11, then it is the disk 14, freely movable in this space, but can no longer be removed from the screw ring without special effort.

If the light bar is installed as intended, i.e. attached to a wall or a ceiling and connected to the supply network and the lamp is to be used, the procedure is as follows: The lamp 2 is inserted into the protective tube 5, which is approximately as long as the lamp itself. Now the screw rings 6 with the inserted washers 14 are pushed onto both inner sides of the protective tube 5, each screw ring 6 being displaced so far towards the center of the lamp 2 that the end face of the screw ring 6 having the internal thread 8 is approximately flush with the end face the lamp 2 is located, with the washer 14 and screw ring 6 being angularly positioned with respect to one another in such a way that the projections 11 lie in the cutouts 18 of this washer, so that, seen in the circumferential direction, there is a positive connection between these two structural parts (FIG. 1).

The lamp 2 is now inserted together with the protective tube 5 and the screw rings 6 from below (FIG. 1) into the holder 13, the lamp 2, the disk 14 and the screw ring 6 are approximately concentric with one another. If the contact pins 4 of the lamp 2 are inserted into the socket 3 from the side (FIG. 1), then the screw rings 6 are now rotated by 90 °, and this rotary movement is followed by the disk 14, which has a positive fit via the recesses 18 and the projections 11 is connected to the screw ring 6, and the lamp 2, which is positively connected to the disk 14 via its contact pins 4 and the recess 15. If the lamp 2 is now in the position in the socket 3 in which the contact pins 4 are in an electrically conductive connection with the voltage-carrying elements of the socket, the screw rings 6 are then displaced towards the socket 3, as a result of which the positive connection between the cutouts 18 and the projections 11 is loosened so that the screw ring 6 can subsequently be screwed onto the external thread 9 of the socket 3 (FIG. 2).

For the sake of clarity, only the outer seal 7 of the screw ring 6 was shown in the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2. A seal can also be provided in the area of the internal thread 8, which can be supported on one side on the ring zone outside the thread 9 on the socket 3.

If, in the exemplary embodiment discussed and shown, the projections 11 are provided on the inside of the screw rings 6 and the cutouts 18 in the outer ring zone 17 of the disk 14, it is fundamentally possible to reverse the arrangement of these active elements, that is to say to arrange tooth-like tabs on the ring zone 17 and on the inside of the screw ring 6 corresponding longitudinal grooves that can extend through the thread 8. In this proposal, it is possible to choose the axial length of the thread 8 larger than in the embodiment shown, without thereby having to increase the overall length of the screw ring 6. In the embodiment shown, the edge 16 of the disk 14 is also flanged and provided with a radially projecting ring zone 17. But it is also possible to form this disk 14 in order to realize the inventive idea. However, such a flat design of the disk 14 would require a somewhat larger overall length of the screw ring 6.

Das Zusammenwirken der solcherart ausgestalteten Teile bei der Montage der Lampe mit dem Schutzrohr ergibt sich aus dem vorstehend, in Zusammenhang mit den Fig. 1 bis 2 Gesagten.FIG. 5 shows another embodiment of the invention in the representation according to FIG. 2, the same being used in this figure to designate it and equivalent parts have the same reference numbers. As a coupling element, the disk 14 has a conical collar 22 which opens towards the protective tube 5 and which has teeth 23 on its outside which extend in the direction of the cone-producing members. A shoulder 24 is formed adjacent to the internal thread 8 of the screw ring 6, conically corresponding to the collar 22 of the washer 14 with teeth 25 corresponding to its teeth 23. Inside the screw ring 6 is the axial section between the internal thread 8 and the holder 10 for the seal 7 dimensioned so long that the disc 14 with its toothed, tapered collar 22 is axially displaceable so far that the coupling elements and counter-elements (serrations 23 and 25) can be positively engaged with one another or can be detached therefrom. The interaction of the parts designed in this way during the assembly of the lamp with the protective tube results from what has been said above in connection with FIGS. 1 to 2.

The described exemplary embodiments show that fundamentally different components can be used as coupling elements and counter-elements; in one case there are nose-like projections and grooves that interact in a form-fitting manner, and in the other case (FIG. 5) there are toothed sections. In addition to such components, other profiles would also be possible in principle, for example corrugations, which come into positive connection with one another or can be released from such a positive connection through the axial displacement of the construction parts discussed here. Since the forces to be transmitted during assembly are not too great, surfaces with high friction values could also be used as coupling elements and counter elements. The choice of the corresponding coupling elements and counter elements is primarily based on manufacturing considerations.

The solution proposed according to the invention is extremely expedient since it can be used in practice with all standard sockets, it is only necessary to replace the screw ring and insert the washer 14. The figures also illustrate that the screw ring 6 covers the end of the protective tube 5 only over a small area, so that light and heat can flow out of the electrode area of the lamp 2 almost unimpeded.

Claims (9)

  1. A light for a fluorescent lamp (2) with a translucent protective tube (5) which surrounds the lamp, and is received at its ends by threaded rings (6) which are connected to the holders for the fluorescent lamp and have sealing members (7), a disc (14) being provided at least at one end of the protective tube (5), the disc having at least one opening (15) through which the contact pins (4) for the lamp (2) can be pushed, characterised in that the disc (14) projects radially beyond the protective tube (5), and coupling members are provided on the edge of the said disc to engage in corresponding opposite members arranged on the inner wall of the threaded ring (6), and by displacement of the threaded ring (6) in the axial direction of the lamp (2) the said members can be brought into positive-locking engagement with one another, or can be released therefrom.
  2. A light in accordance with claim 1, characterised in that the coupling members are formed on the edge as cut-out portions (18), and, as opposite members, nose-like projections (11) are provided on the inner wall of the threaded ring (6), and by displacement of the threaded ring (6) in the axial direction of the lamp (2) the said projections (11) can be pushed into the cut-out portions (18) on the edge of the disc (14), or the arrangement of cut-out portions and projections is reversed, i.e. the cut-out portions are provided on the inner wall of the threaded ring and the projections are provided on the edge of the disc (fig. 2).
  3. A light in accordance with claim 1, characterised in that at its edge the disc (14) has a conical collar (22) opening out towards the protective tube (5), and on its external surface, as a coupling member, the said collar has toothing (23) extending in the direction of the cone generatrix, and on the inner surface of the threaded ring (6) adjacent to the thread (8) a shoulder (24) is provided as an opposite member, the said shoulder having a correspondingly formed conical shape and toothing (23), and by displacement of the threaded ring (6) in the axial direction of the lamp (2), the toothing (25) on the shoulder (24) and the toothing (23) on the conical collar (22) can be brought into engagement with one another, or released therefrom (fig. 5).
  4. A light in accordance with claim 2, characterised in that the edge (16) of the disc (14) is flanged towards the protective tube (5) and engages thereabout, and the said flanged edge (16) has a radially projecting annular region (17) in which the cut-out portions (18) are provided.
  5. A light in accordance with claim 2 or 3, characterised in that, seen in the peripheral direction, the cut-out portions (18) on the edge of the disc (14) and the nose-like projections (11) on the inner wall of the threaded ring (6) correspond to one another with regard to number, mutual separating distance and distribution.
  6. A light in accordance with claim 2, characterised in that the cut-out portions (18) are substantially U-shaped and the peripheral surface (19) extending between the two limbs of each cut-out portion (18) is inclined towards the axis of the lamp (2), and the angle of inclination opens outwards.
  7. A light in accordance with claim 2, characterised in that the nose-like projections (11) have a wedge-shaped tapered portion (12) and a portion (13) connected thereto and offset radially outwards.
  8. A light in accordance with one of claims 2 and 4 to 7, characterised in that the average radial distance (20) of the peripheral surface (19) located between the limbs of each cut-out portion (18) is slightly greater than the radial distance (21) of the highest point of the nose-like projections (11) on the inner wall of the threaded ring (6).
  9. A light in accordance with claim 2, characterised in that the nose-like projections (11) on the inner wall of the threaded ring (6), seen in the axial direction thereof, are at a distance from the mounting (10) of the outer sealing ring (7), and the edge of the disc (14) having the cutout portions (18) is positioned in the intermediate space when the threaded ring (6) is screwed on to the holder, and, in contrast, when the threaded ring (6) is unscrewed and is pushed on the protective tube (5) towards the centre of the lamp, the cut-out portions (18) and the projections (11) engage in one another in a positive-locking manner in the peripheral direction.
