Description

Eine solche Streicheinrichtung ist bekannt aus der US-A-33 02 610 [US-A-4 440 809 oder US-A-4 250 211.]The invention relates to a coating device according to the preamble of claim 1. Such a coating device is known from US-A-33 02 610 [US-A-4 440 809 or US-A-4 250 211.]

Strips, cloudy spots or other irregularities often occur in the finished stroke, particularly in the case of arrangements according to the first-mentioned publication. All the more so since very high web speeds are used today when coating paper or cardboard between 500 and 1200 m / min.

The object of the invention is to provide a coating device in which a much more uniform stroke application is achieved.

This object is achieved by the features of the characterizing part of patent claim 1. Particularly advantageous measures can be found in subclaims 2 and 3 and 6 to 9.

The ramp surface directs the flow of the coating compound returning to the coating blade against the counter roller or web in a substantially linear region along the counter roller or web. The energy of this returning current has a comparative effect on the coating slip moving in the area of the material web, so that non-uniformities in this layer are considerably reduced when the doctor blade is scraped off. The fluctuations in the impulse forces caused by the coating mass which act on the coating blade are also substantially reduced.

The doctor device is held on bar-shaped or strip-shaped holding elements 46a to 46e. The coating blade 48 is clamped at its lower end by a pressure hose 50 and the tip 52 of the coating blade is pressed against the counter roller 22 or web by the force of a pneumatic pressure hose 54. A strip-shaped component 56 is fastened to the beam part 46c by means of screws 58, which at the same time also fix a drainage channel 60. One of the doctor blades near surface 62 of component 56 deviates from this at an angle between 2 and 5 ° in the event that the doctor blade is unloaded to allow the doctor blade to deflect during operation.

A surface 64a of the component 56 close to the coating blade and facing the counter roller 22 runs essentially parallel to the counter roller or approaches it at an angle of approximately 5 °. This is followed by a ramp surface 64b, which forms an angle between 120 and 150 °, in this case 135 °, with the first surface mentioned. This ramp surface 64b forms an angle b between 35 and 55 ° with the secant in the region of the counter roll where its projection hits the counter roll. The length l of this surface is approximately one fifth to two fifths of the length f of the surface 64a close to the coating blade. The length l of this other surface 64a is between 40 and 80 mm.

The ramp surface 64b and the surface 64a mounted in front of it form a space 70 on the coating blade 48 and the counter-roller 22, in which in the region close to the counter-roller the coating compound in excess toward the coating blade and in the region remote from the counter-roller the excess coating material away from the coating blade flows as it is indicated by the arrows. Striving away from the space 70, the ramp surface 64b is adjoined by a surface 64c that stretches away from the counter roller at an angle between 32 and 55 ° and forms a hump 66 with a tip 68 with the ramp surface 64b. This tip 68 forms a gap parallel to the counter roller 68a. The excess amount of the coating slip deflected by the ramp, which strikes in this gap 68a the coating slip introduced into the space 70 by the web, brings about an equalization of the layer of coating slip on the material web. In this case, the coating slip is preferably applied to the material web by an application roller which rotates in a bath with coating slip and is not shown here.

The conditions in the space 70 can be set so that there is no coating compound in their center, so that strong eddy currents cannot form here. These eddy currents are probably the reason for the streakiness of the applied stroke. For this purpose, the inclination of the ramp surface 64b and the distance of the Hump 66 or its tip 68 from the counter-roller or the inclination of the surface 64a close to the coating blade are dimensioned accordingly. The distance of the tip 68 from the counter roller is to be set between 3 and 15 mm, preferably between 5 and 10 mm. The angle between the two surfaces can be between 120 and 150 °, as indicated.

Preferably, the surface 64a of the component 56 close to the coating blade 48 is to be inclined so that the vertical line which is built thereon approximately in the middle region of this surface essentially or fairly exactly intersects the axis of the counter roller 22.

Another embodiment of the invention is described in FIG. 2, where the doctor device is designated by 84. The arrangement has a main beam support 86 on which the doctor blade 88 is clamped at its lower end by a pneumatic pressure hose 90, while a pneumatic pressure hose 92 presses the tip 94 of the doctor blade against the web or the counter roller 22. Here, too, the already coated material web leads the coating slip in excess into a space 103 which is formed by a component 96 on the coating blade or the counter roller and the material web. There are two ramp surfaces 98b and 98d here, the conditions explained for FIG. 1 applying to the former. There is also a first surface 98a close to the coating blade, facing the counter roller, for which the same conditions apply with respect to the counter roller or ramp surface 98b, as explained in relation to FIG. 1. A hump 100 with a tip 102 and a gap 102a is also formed here, as in the case of FIG. 1. The surfaces mentioned form a space 103 on the coating blade and the counter roller, in which the same flow conditions as explained in relation to FIG. 1 exist.

The hump 100 is adjoined by a further surface 98c, here at an angle between 10 and 25 ° away from the counter-roller, to which another ramp surface 98d adjoins, which at an angle between 10 and 25 ° of the counter-roller away from approaches gap 102a. A hump 104 with a crest 106 is also created here. The second hump 104 is continued outwards in a round surface 98e. The effect already described for the first ramp surface is repeated on the second ramp surface 98d and the hump 104 or the tip 106 in a somewhat weaker form.

An arrangement is described in FIG. 3, in which the material web does not bring application mass into a pressurized application chamber 126, but the latter flows from a storage chamber through an outlet gap 124. Here, the doctor device 108 is held on a support beam 110 and clamped at one end by a pneumatic pressure hose 114 between a wall 120 connected to the beam 110 and pressed against the mating roller 22 at the coating edge 116 by means of a further pneumatic pressure hose 118. The direction of movement of the web is indicated by arrow 24 as in the other figures. A front wall 122 is also indicated by the carrier device, to which a component 128, which delimits the pressurized application chamber 126 on the inlet side of the web, is fastened. This also has a ramp surface 132b facing the counter roller, which ends in a projection 136 which ends in a tip 134 forming a gap 137 on the counter roller in the region of the smallest distance from the counter roller. A surface 132a adjoins the application chamber 126 and, like the other figures, preferably forms an angle between 120 and 150 ° with the ramp surface 132b. The values already given for the other figures apply to the lengths and inclinations of these two surfaces. As already stated, in this coating device, the coating slip is from a storage chamber via the outlet opening 124 the chamber 126 and thus the doctor blade 112 and thus the paper web. It is of course possible that the paper web, already coated with coating slip, runs into the application chamber 126. In any case, here the application chamber 126 is completely filled with the coating slip and is under superatmospheric pressure. Here, the gap 137 forms a liquid seal in order to maintain the excess pressure in the application chamber 126. A considerable amount of excess coating slip flows out here through the gap 137. The selected arrangement, however, ensures uniform behavior when the coating slip emerges and thus also favorable conditions for a uniform wiping of the excess coating slip by the coating blade. The spreading of the coating slip from the gap 137 takes place practically in a narrow linear area, which is quite precisely delimited in the direction of web travel.
