Abstract
Tiltable rolling mill stand, either with cylinders or with cantilever rolls, capable of assuming a position with vertical axis and a position with horizontal axis while keeping the rolling axis (27) coinciding, comprising:
- a base (12) with horizontal sides (14) and vertical sides (13), each side being provided with clamps (20-120) coordinated with respect to the top;
- a rolling unit (25) with a base (22) and with a transmission unit (18) provided with two power take-offs (16-116) disposed at 90° from each other.
- a motor (11) with releasable adapter (15).
- a base (12) with horizontal sides (14) and vertical sides (13), each side being provided with clamps (20-120) coordinated with respect to the top;
- a rolling unit (25) with a base (22) and with a transmission unit (18) provided with two power take-offs (16-116) disposed at 90° from each other.
- a motor (11) with releasable adapter (15).
Description
- This patent concerns a tiltable rolling mill stand capable, that is, of assuming either a position with horizontal axis or a position with vertical axis without having to shift the base or the motor.
- The proponent is acquainted with solutions of this kind, said solutions are however extremely complicated in structure and consequently very costly.
- A rolling mill stand which is tiltable by 90° while keeping the rolling axis coinciding is extremely advantageous in modern rolling processes in that it makes any rolling line highly flexible.
- A tiltable stand according to the patent is characterized as shown in the main claim.
- The dependent claims show various features.
- The stand, according to the patent, comprises a base shaped in the form of an L, outside the upper part of the vertical leg of which is disposed the motor.
- Inside the L are guiding and locking means which enable the stand to:
- assume a horizontal position and be locked therein;
- rotate from a horizontal to a vertical position and vice versa, with the assistance of external means, whenever necessary;
- assume a vertical position and be locked therein. - The rolling mill stand according to the patent is provided with power take-off means which are positioned at 90° from each other. The rolling mill stands according to the patent can either be stands with cantilever rolls or stands with shoulders.
- A non restrictive embodiment is given by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which:
- - fig. 1 shows a lateral view of a stand according to the patent with horizontal axis;
- - fig. 2 shows the stand of fig. 1 but with vertical axis.
- The
stand 10 comprises therolling unit 25 which is positioned on thebase 12 and made to rotate by themotor 11. - The
motor 11 is provided with areleasable adapter 15 which, depending upon the position assumed by therolling unit 25, can be connected to either one of the drive pinions 17-117. - The
base 12 has ahorizontal side 14 and avertical side 13; clamps 20-120, disposed coordinated with respect to the top, are provided on both of said sides. - The
lifting unit 24 which serves to raise and rotate therolling unit 25 is provided in the upper part of thevertical side 13. - A
piston 23 is provided in the lower part of thevertical side 13 to help the rollingunit 25 to turn over. - The
lifting unit 24 cooperates withlifting chains 26 which are connected to thebase 22 and which serve to lift saidbase 22. - The
rolling unit 25 is provided with atransmission unit 18 androlls 19 with arolling axis 27. - The
transmission unit 18 comprises power take-off means 16-116 disposed at 90° from each other; each means 16-116 has its own drive pinions 17-117 which, depending upon the position of therolling unit 25, are driven by thereleasable adapter 15. - The
rolling unit 25 is mounted on abase 22 which is provided at the front with anidle wheel 21; the part of thebase 22 opposite theidle wheel 21 is connected to thechains 26. - The
rolling unit 25 can be moved on thebase 22 by means of a positioningcylinder 28 which enables therolling axis 27 to be positioned correctly. - In order to shift the
rolling unit 25 from the position of fig. 1 to the position of fig. 2, it is sufficient to:
- open theclamps 20 disposed on thehorizontal side 14;
- operate thelifting unit 24 so that thebase 22 begins to rise while resting on thehorizontal side 14 by means of theidle wheel 21;
- position therolling axis 27 vertically by means of thecylinder 28 and operate theclamps 120 in order to secure therolling unit 25 in the vertical position. - The cycle is carried out in the reverse order to shift the rolling unit from the vertical position to the horizontal position with the help, in this case, of the
piston 23.
