- Such electrical switches are generally referred to as a "friction contact switch”.
- the present invention now aims to provide a new friction contact switch which eliminates the aforementioned drawbacks, while being simple and economical in design.
- the present invention provides an electrical switch of the type known per se indicated above comprising a movable contact carrier provided with at least one contact pad and a plate of electrically insulating material carrying two sets of electrically conductive lamellae disposed respectively on the side and other of the path of the stud so that the latter successively connects different pairs of strips during its movement, characterized in that it comprises a wall of electrically insulating material, carried by the plate, to take laterally supported on the stud outside its contacting zone, and a recess in the plate, under the edge of the strips contacted by the stud all along the path of movement of the latter.
- the wall proposed by the present invention makes it possible in particular to prevent the stud from catching on the angles of the slats during its movement.
- the low wall thus limits the mechanical wear of the stud and the slats.
- the recess in the plate makes it possible to lengthen the path of possible leakage conduction between the lamellae. In particular, it prevents any accidental connection between the strips by particles detached from the strips or the stud.
- FIG. 2 We see in Figure 2 attached a plate 10 of electrically insulating material, integrated with an electrical switch.
- the plate 10 can be made for example based on polyamide.
- FIG. 2 two sets of electrically conductive strips carried by a common face of the plate 10. More specifically, as shown in Figure 3, we see a first set comprising a strip 20, and a second set comprising two strips 30, 31.
- the strip 20 is connected to the positive pole of the power supply, and the strips 30, 31 are connected to the negative pole of the power supply via their respective load.
- a contact pad 40 This has its axis 41 orthogonal to the plate 10. It is carried by a movable contact carrier.
- the contact carrier is not shown in the accompanying figures to simplify the illustration.
- the path traveled by the stud 40 during the movement of the associated contact carrier is shown diagrammatically under the reference 42 in FIG. 3.
- the two sets of strips 20 on the one hand, and 30, 31 on the other hand are disposed respectively on either side of the path 42, so that the stud 40 successively connects different pairs of strips during of its displacement.
- FIG. 3 shows in broken dashed line and under the reference 40 ′, a second position of the pad 40 in which it connects the strips 20 and 31.
- the geometry of the strips 20, 30 and 31 must of course be adapted to the movement of the pad 40.
- the edges of the strips 20, 30, 31 contacted by the pad 40 must be straight and parallel to the direction of movement 42.
- the edges of the strips 20, 30 and 31 contacted by the pad 40 must correspond to arcs of circle centered on the pivot axis of the stud.
- the edges of the strips 20, 30, 31 contacted by the pad 40 are bevelled, in order to best adapt to the geometry of the pad.
- the area 43 of the contact pad 40 coming into contact with the lamellae 20, 30, 31, is frustoconical of revolution around the axis 41.
- This arrangement is however not limiting.

- this contact area 43 can be hemispherical.
- a low wall 50 is provided projecting from the plate to bear laterally on the stud 40.
- the wall 50 can be an integral part of the plate 10, for example having come from molding with the plate 10.
- the wall 50 can also be attached to the plate 10 and fixed using any suitable conventional means thereon.
- the wall 50 is of course made of an electrically insulating material.
- the low wall 50 is designed to bear on the stud 40 outside of its contact area 43.
- the wall 50 is thus designed to come to bear on the part of the stud 40 cylindrical of revolution around the axis 41 and situated above the contacting area 43.
- the wall 50 thus exerts a stress lateral on the pad 40, that is to say a stress transverse to the axis 41 and parallel to the plate 10.
- the wall 50 is placed not between the two sets of strips on the one hand, 30, 31 on the other hand under the stud, as was the case for the ramp structures of the state of the art recalled in the figure 1.
- the low wall is placed between the slats 30, 31, of the same set.
- the wall 50 is placed between lamellae 30, 31, respectively connected to a load, the other terminal of which is connected to the negative supply terminal, so that it urges the contact pad 40 in permanent contact against the strip 20 connected to the positive supply terminal. Thanks to this arrangement, metal cations taken from the strip 20 are prevented from moving towards the contact grain 40. This avoids any deterioration of the contact strips carried by the plate 10. On the other hand, a slight weakening of the contact grain 40 by displacement of metal cations towards the lamellae 30, 31 can be tolerated without disadvantage.
- a recess 12 is provided under the edge of the strips contacted by the pad 40, and this all along the path of movement of the pad 40.
- the edges of the strips 20, 30, 31 contacted by the stud 40 are placed in overhang.
- the dimensions and geometry of the recess 12 may be the subject of numerous variants.
- the recess 12 is of rectangular section. This provision is however not limiting.
- the wall 50 is formed by a parallelepipedal block projecting from the plate 10.
- the direction of movement of the pad 40 shown at 42 is assumed to be rectilinear, the surface 52 of the wall 50 directed towards the pad 40 is intended to come into lateral abutment thereon is plane, perpendicular to the plate 10 and parallel to the direction 42.
- the surface 52 of the wall serving as support stud 40 should preferably be generally circular centered around the axis of rotation of the contact carrier.
- FIG. 4 there is shown in Figure 4 an alternative embodiment in which the wall 50 is cantilevered, that is to say that the surface 52 of the wall, serving as lateral support to the pad 40, does not join the plate 10, but is interrupted at a distance therefrom.
- FIG. 5 also shows an alternative embodiment according to which the surface 52 of the wall 50 intended to come into lateral abutment against the pad 40 is not flat, but curved, or is convex towards the pad 40.

Description
The present invention relates to the field of electrical switches, in particular electrical switches for motor vehicles.
The present invention relates more precisely to electrical switches comprising a movable contact carrier provided with at least one contact pad and a plate made of electrically insulating material carrying two sets of electrically conductive strips arranged respectively on either side of the path of the pad so that it successively connects different pairs of lamellae during its movement.
De tels commutateurs électriques sont généralement dénommés "commutateur à contact frottant".Such electrical switches are generally referred to as a "friction contact switch".
Many switches of this type have already been marketed, in particular in the context of applications for motor vehicles.
These switches have already done great service. However, they are not always satisfactory. It is sometimes found that these switches exhibit rapid deterioration of the contact pads and / or associated lamellae. Pollution of the contact pads is also sometimes observed by the material of the electrically insulating plate, or else leakage currents between the lamellae.
We tried to eliminate these drawbacks, as described in patent application FR-A-2601495 filed by the applicant on July 11, 1986, and as recalled in Figure 1 attached, by placing ramp-shaped structures under the stud of contact, opposite the path of movement thereof, between the two sets of electrically conductive strips, at the transition zones between two adjacent strips of the same set. These strips have the essential function of controlling the position of the pad when it leaves an electrically conductive strip, to reach a second strip of the same clearance. More precisely, these ramp-shaped structures have the function of exerting on the contact pad a stress perpendicular to the plate in electrically insulating material, away from it.
However, the tests carried out by the applicant thanks to the arrangements represented in the appended FIG. 1 and described in the patent application FR-A-2601495 were not entirely satisfactory.
The present invention now aims to provide a new friction contact switch which eliminates the aforementioned drawbacks, while being simple and economical in design.
As will be specified below, the wall proposed by the present invention makes it possible in particular to prevent the stud from catching on the angles of the slats during its movement. The low wall thus limits the mechanical wear of the stud and the slats.
Furthermore, the recess in the plate makes it possible to lengthen the path of possible leakage conduction between the lamellae. In particular, it prevents any accidental connection between the strips by particles detached from the strips or the stud.

- FIG. 1 represents a schematic sectional view of a conventional device as described for example in French patent application n ° 86 10175,
- FIG. 2 represents a schematic sectional view, along a plane orthogonal to the direction of movement of a contact pad, of a device according to the present invention,
- FIG. 3 represents a plan view of a device according to the present invention and,
- Figures 4 and 5 show alternative embodiments of the device according to the present invention, according to respectively homologous views of Figures 2 and 3 above.
We see in Figure 2 attached a
We also see in Figure 2 two sets of electrically conductive strips carried by a common face of the
It will be noted that the two sets of
There is thus shown in Figure 3, in solid lines and under the
The geometry of the
Preferably, as shown in the figures, under the
It will be noted that according to the representation given in FIG. 2, the
As indicated above, according to a characteristic of the present invention, a
The
The
Preferably, the
According to another characteristic of the invention, as indicated above, a
Thanks to this recess, the possible leakage path between the lamellae is lengthened, compared with known conventional arrangements. As a result, it is particularly avoided that particles torn from the
The dimensions and geometry of the
According to the representation given in Figure 2 the
According to the representation given in FIG. 2, the
There is shown in Figure 4 an alternative embodiment in which the
On a par ailleurs représenté sur la figure 5 une variante de réalisation selon laquelle la surface 52 du muret 50 destinée à venir en appui latéral contre le plot 40 n'est pas plane, mais bombée, soit convexe vers le plot 40.FIG. 5 also shows an alternative embodiment according to which the
