Abstract

The panic lock comprises at least one bolt and an actuating bar connected pivotably to said door by means of an assembly formed by at least two cases fastened to said door and two levers (2) fixed towards one of their ends to the actuating bar and mounted pivotably at their other end in an associated case (4); said lock comprises a first spring member (10) which, in a first dihedron corresponding to a first door opening direction, returns the actuating bar and levers (2) towards a position of rest, one of the levers being a control lever interacting with elements for actuating the bolts. The first spring member (10) is arranged to allow the associated lever (2) to pivot in order to be placed in a second dihedron corresponding to a second door opening direction; a second spring member (10) is provided for returning, in this second dihedron, an associated lever (2) and the actuating bar towards a position of rest, whilst the control lever of the bolt and the elements (26) of its case are arranged so as to continue to ensure the actuation of the bolt when this control lever has been placed in the second dihedron, the lock thus being reversible. <IMAGE>

Description

De telles serrures de sécurité sont, notamment, fréquemment utilisées sur des portes de sortie de secours de lieux publics et autres (cinémas, théâtres, restaurants, etc...).The present invention relates to an anti-panic security lock of the type which is mounted on the doors intended to be quickly opened from the inside by simple actuation by an operator of a bar controlling the movement of the bolt of said lock in the striker with which it is associated. Such security locks are, in particular, frequently used on emergency exit doors from public places and others (cinemas, theaters, restaurants, etc.).

Until now, most models of panic locks of this type had to be produced in two versions, one intended to be fitted on doors called "right" doors opening with a pushing movement clockwise relative to the surface of the ground, the other being intended to be adapted on doors called "left" doors opening in thrust in the anti-clockwise direction. Therefore, to be able to meet the demands of users, it was necessary to keep in stock for each lock model the two versions of these which led to significant additional storage costs and frequent sources of errors, generating wasted time.

To overcome this drawback, it has already been proposed to use panic locks that can be adapted to the two types of doors. However, such locks are complex to handle, their reversibility necessitating the use of specific tools. In addition, such locks are relatively expensive.

Cette possibilité de retournement permet un montage sur une porte "à droite" ou "à gauche", déjà équipée d'un pêne, mais le levier sera dirigé vers le haut ou vers le bas (ou inversement).US-A-3,897,092 relates to a door opening device, with lever and panic bar, intended to be fitted on a lock already in place and the bolt of which is controlled by a rotary shaft, generally at square section. The device comprises a cam comprising a housing for receiving the control shaft of the bolt, and a lever, controlled by a panic bar, provided with a finger for rotating the cam. This device can be mounted either with the lever pointing downwards and the actuating bar located below the pivot axis of the lever, or, by turning the housing upside down, with the lever pointing upwards and the bar actuation located above the pivot axis of the lever, the cam can also be turned. This possibility of reversal allows mounting on a door "right" or "left", already equipped with a bolt, but the lever will be directed up or down (or vice versa).

The present invention provides, for its part, a panic lock device, comprising at least one bolt, which can be adapted both on "right" or "left" doors, which in particular makes it possible to considerably reduce stocks necessary and errors, this device having economic advantages and being of a very simple handling, its reversibility being able to be obtained without specific tool. In particular, the present invention provides an anti-panic lock in which the mechanism for operating the bolt of said lock can be reversed so that the actuating bar controlling said bolt can act on it in both directions of its pivoting movement , said actuating bar retaining, in the lock in place, the same relative position with respect to the pivot axis of the levers, whether the door is "to the right" or "to the left".

The present invention therefore relates to an anti-panic lock intended to be mounted on a door and comprising at least one bolt admitting two positions, one authorizing the opening of the doors, the other being a closed position where said bolt can be engaged in a strike, this lock comprising, in addition, an actuating bar pivotally connected to said door by a assembly formed by at least two housings fixed on said door and two levers integral towards one of their ends of the actuating bar and pivotally mounted, at their other end, in an associated housing, said lock comprising a first spring member recalling in a first of the two right dihedrons of the half-space defined by the plane parallel to the bottoms of the housings passing through the pivot axes of the levers and delimited by the plane perpendicular to the bottoms passing through the axes, corresponding to a first direction of door opening , the actuating bar and the levers to a rest position, one of the levers being a control lever cooperating with elements for actuating the bolt e during the angular displacement in this first dihedron of the actuating bar, this lock being characterized in that the first spring member is arranged to allow the associated lever to pivot in order to be placed in the second of said dihedrons corresponding to a second direction of door opening, that a second spring member is provided to return to a rest position, in this second dihedral, an associated lever and the actuating bar, while the bolt control lever and the elements of its housing are arranged to continue to ensure the actuation of the bolt when this lever has been placed in the second dihedral, the lock thus being reversible.

Advantageously, the first and the second spring member are constituted by a single spring with two branches journalled in the housing around the pivot axis of the lever of this housing, one of the branches of this spring being supported on a projecting part of said lever, the other of the branches of this spring being supported on a member integral with said housing.

Generally, at least one housing of the lock has a first stop limiting the stroke of the associated lever in the first dihedron, this lever coming to bear on said stop for the rest position; according to the invention, the first stop can be moved in its housing so as to release the angular displacement of the associated lever, the lever then being able to pivot to be placed in the second dihedron; and at least one housing has a second stop making it possible to limit the angular displacement of the actuating bar in this second dihedron, one of the levers coming to bear against this second stop for the rest position in the second dihedron.

Preferably, one of the housings has a stop which serves both as the first and second stop. The or each stop can cooperate with holding means capable of stabilizing it in a position where it limits the travel of a lever.

According to a first embodiment, the housing comprises a bottom on which the element forming a stop is disposed, said element being able to move in translation on said bottom.

The stop element can have two protuberances separated from each other by a recess in which the end of the associated lever can pivot, when the stop element is moved away from its working position, each protuberance serving as a proper stop depending on the direction. opening of the door to be fitted. Said abutment element can be held on said bottom by means of a rod serving as an abutment guide, passing through the housing at the bottom of the recess of said element.

According to a second embodiment, the housing has a bottom and the stop element can take, on the bottom of the housing, two positions symmetrical to each other with respect to the plane orthogonal to the bottom and passing through the geometric axis of pivoting of the associated lever. Preferably, the element forming a stop can pivot in the housing with respect to an axis orthogonal to the geometric axis of pivoting of the associated lever and situated in a plane passing through this geometric axis and perpendicular to the bottom of the housing. Advantageously, the element forming a stop is associated with a light in the form of an arc of a circle on the bottom of its housing, this light cooperating with a retaining screw.

Generally, the housing containing the stop element is distinct from the housing comprising the bolt. However, one could combine, in the same housing, the stop element and the bolt with its mechanism.

The housing including the bolt and the lever control, according to the invention, is characterized in that the bolt is a lateral bolt pivoting in the housing, this bolt being tilted by an operating pin cooperating with two parts of the bolt distributed symmetrically with respect to the plane perpendicular to the bottom of the housing and passing through the axis of rotation of the lever.

The invention consists, apart from the arrangements set out above, of a certain number of other arrangements which will be more explicitly discussed below in connection with embodiments described with reference to the drawings, by way of illustrative examples. , but not limiting.

It can be seen in FIGS. 1 to 6 that an anti-panic lock according to a first embodiment comprises an actuating bar 1 connected at its ends by levers 2 and 3 to housings references by 4 and 5 respectively and intended to be fixed on a door.

Each housing 4 or 5 has a U-shaped cross section defined by a rectangular bottom 6 and two side walls 7 a , 7 b parallel to the length of said bottom 6 and having a rectangle shape surmounted by a trapezoid. Each lever 2 or 3 is mounted in its housing 4 or 5 on a pivot rod 8 carried by the walls 7 a , 7 b of said housing, this rod 8 extending between the trapezoidal parts of said walls 7 a , 7 b perpendicular to these, substantially at the median length of the housing 4 or 5, this rod 8 passing through the lever 2 or 3 with which it is associated towards its end furthest from the actuating bar 1. The levers 2 or 3 are flat blades, parallel to the walls 7 a , 7 b , having a rectangular shape whose width increases appreciably when one moves from the housings 4 or 5 towards the actuation bar 1. The end of these levers 2 or 3 la further from said actuating bar 1 has a substantially rounded trapezoidal shape. These levers 2 or 3 comprise, at their ends connected to the actuating bar 1, sleeves 9 in which said actuating bar 1 is engaged. The levers 2 and 3 are each arranged close to the wall 7 a of their housing, opposite the other housing.

On the part of the rod 8 of the lever 2, which is disposed between the lever 2 and the wall 7 b , is journalled a spring 10̸ which ends in two branches 11 substantially the same length and tangent to said rod 8, substantially at the level of the part of said rod 8 which faces the bottom 6 of the housing 4. The operating lever 2 has at its end furthest from the actuating bar 1, on the side opposite to said bar 1 relative to the rod 8, a cylindrical stopper 12, or pin, projecting with respect to the lever 2 perpendicularly to the latter, one of the branches 11 of said spring 10̸ coming to bear on said stopper 12, tangentially to the latter, in the part of said stop 12 which is diametrically opposite to its part opposite the bottom 6. The housing 4 further comprises a tab 13 having an elongated rectangular shape projecting from the wall 7 b , perpendicular to this wall, and parallel to bottom 6. This tab 13 is centered substantially on the plane perpendicular to the bottom 6 passing through the axis of the rod 8. The branch 11 of the spring 10̸ which is furthest from the stop 12 is supported on one of the edges of this leg 13. The distance separating the axis of the rod 8 from the median plane of this leg 13 corresponds substantially to half the distance separating the axis of the rod 8 from the axis of the cylindrical stop 12, the width of this tab 13 corresponding substantially to the diameter of the rod 8.

Enfin, chacune des protubérances 15a 15b est prolongée du côté le plus éloigné de l'évidement 16, par deux organes 21 sensiblement parallèles au plan des parois 7a, 7b.The bottom 6 is associated with a stop element 14 which can slide on said bottom and having a plane of symmetry perpendicular to the axis of said bottom. This stop 14 has a U shape, the branches of which consist of two protrusions 15 a , 15 b separated from each other by a recess 16 and the bottom of which is parallel to the bottom 6. The height of the protrusions 15 a , 15 b with respect to at the bottom 6 corresponds substantially the width of the rectangles partially defining the outline of the walls 7 a , 7 b . This stop 14 is associated with a cylindrical guide rod 17, having a diameter substantially identical to the diameter of the pin 12, this rod 17 extending between the two walls 7 a , 7 b of the housing 4, perpendicular to them and just above the bottom of the recess 16. The abutment 14 is, moreover, symmetrically subjected to the action of two springs 18 working in opposition, in particular in compression, arranged in housings 19 of said abutment 14. These housings 19 extend just above the bottom 6. Each spring 18 bears at one of its ends on a wall of the housing 19 with which it is associated and at its other end, on a projection 20̸ from the bottom 6, these two springs exerting on element 14 of the opposite forces parallel to 6, along the length thereof. Finally, each of the protuberances 15 to 15 b is extended on the side furthest from the recess 16, by two members 21 substantially parallel to the plane of the walls 7 a , 7 b .

The lever 3 comprises at its end furthest from the actuating bar 1, a maneuvering pin 22 (see FIGS. 5 and 6) cylindrical projecting relative to said lever 3, on the side of the wall 7b , the diameter of this pin 22 corresponding substantially to the diameter of the stop pin 12, its length corresponding substantially to a half-width of the housing 5. The housing 5 is associated with a bolt 23 passing through the wall 7b furthest from the housing 4. This bolt 23 is pivotally mounted on a rod 24 supported by the two walls of a stirrup (not shown) arranged on the wall 7b and perpendicular to the bottom 6 and to said wall 7b , said rod 24 being perpendicular to said stirrup.

The bolt 23 has an outer surface generated by generators parallel to the length of the bottom 6 of the housing 5 resting on a cross section shaped, substantially, of a quarter of a circle whose center is located on the axis of the rod 24, the arcuate surface of this bolt 23 being disposed in part inside the housing 5 and partly outside said housing 5. The edge of the bolt 23, which is disposed inside the housing 5, is extended by a recess 23 a abutting on the wall 7 b during the pivoting of said bolt 23. The edge of the bolt 23 which is opposite its arcuate surface is extended, perpendicular to the wall of the bolt 23, which is inside the housing 5, on each side by bearing surfaces 25 having on their face opposite the bottom 6, two notches 26. The bearing surfaces 25 and the notches 26 are symmetrical relative to the median plane of the bolt 23, orthogonal to the rod 24. The notches 26 are intended to cooperate with the operating pin 22, said notches 26 having substantially a complementary shape of the pin 22 and being located on the circular path that the latter describes, during a movement of the lever 3. A part 27, which connects these two notches 26, has a domed shape allowing the angular movement of the pin 22.

The actuating bar 1 and the levers 2 and 3 are arranged, with respect to the half-space defined by the plane parallel to the bottoms 6 passing through the axes 8, in one of the two right dihedrons of this half-space delimited by the plane perpendicular to the bottom 6 passing through the axes 8. If no operation is carried out on the stop element 14, the angular movement of the levers 2 and 3 and of the actuating bar 1 relative to the axes 8 is limited in this first dihedral, between, on the one hand, a position where the levers 2 and 3 are substantially parallel to the bottom 6 and where the operating pin 22 causes the bolt 23 to tilt in its open position and, on the other hand, a position where the lever 2 is supported, by one of the sides of its trapezoidal end, on a protuberance 15 a or 15 b of the stop 14, the bolt being in the closed position, that is to say partially removed from the housing 5.

There is shown in Figures 7 and 8, a panic lock according to a second embodiment of the invention. For the elements of this second embodiment which are unchanged compared to the elements of the first embodiment, the same reference numbering has been kept increased by 10̸0̸.

This anti-panic lock includes an actuating bar secured at its ends to levers pivotally mounted in housings, FIGS. 7 and 8 showing the housing 10̸4 associated with the lever 10̸2, the other lever-housing assembly being unchanged. The pivot axis of the lever 10̸2 in the housing 10̸4 is a rod 10̸8 mounted on the walls 10̸7 a , 10̸7 b of the housing 10̸4 and parallel to the bottom 10̸6 of said housing. On said axis 10̸8 is journalled a spring 110̸ whose two branches 111 are supported, respectively, one on a stop 112 which is provided with the end of the lever 10̸2 opposite the actuating bar, the other on a lug 113 secured to one of the walls 10̸7 a , or 10̸7 b .

Cet axe 153 est proche de la parois 10̸7a du boîtier 10̸4.The bottom 10̸6 of said housing 10̸4 is associated with an element 150̸ forming an abutment, having a cross section in the form of an elbow, one branch 151 of which is the actual abutment perpendicular to the bottom 10̸6. This branch 151 extends from said bottom 10̸6 over a height corresponding substantially to the width of the rectangles partially defining the contour of the walls 10̸7 a , 10̸7 b , the other branch of this element 150̸ being a tab 152 of small thickness, parallel to said bottom 10̸6 and pivotally mounted around an axis 153 perpendicular to the bottom 10̸6 and arranged in the plane perpendicular to the bottom 10̸6 which passes through the axis of the rod 10̸8. This axis 153 is close to the walls 10̸7 a of the housing 10̸4.

The distance between the axis 153 and the stop 151 is slightly greater than the thickness of the lever 10̸2. The length of the assembly formed by the tab 152 and the stop 151 is slightly less than the internal width of the bottom 10̸6, which allows the pivoting of the assembly in the housing 10̸4, substantially in a semicircle. The bottom 10̸6 is further crossed by a light 154 in an arc centered on the axis 153, arranged symmetrically on either side of the plane perpendicular to the bottom 10̸6 and passing through the axis of the rod 10̸8, the radius of the arc of this light 154 substantially corresponding to the distance separating the axis 153 from the axis of the stop 151. The stop 151 is itself traversed in its axial height by a threaded cylindrical housing cooperating with a screw 155 passing through the light 154, the head of this screw 155 being disposed opposite the element 150̸ relative to the bottom 10̸6.

In the position of use, the tab 152 and the stop 151 are arranged along the wall 10̸7 a , the stop element 150̸ being held in place by tightening the bottom 10̸6 between the stop 151 and the screw head 155. The angular movement of the levers and of the actuating bar is limited to a first dihedral by the stop 151, in the same way as in the example of the first embodiment.

Such panic locks are used in the manner which will now be described. If the lock is adapted to the direction of opening of the door, that is to say, if the levers and the actuation bar are located in the right dihedral relative to the housings, it then mounts on this door in having that of the two housings in which the bolt of the lock is mounted, on the side opposite the hinge of the door, the lock housings can be, for example, screwed onto this door. If, on the contrary, the actuation bar and the operating levers are arranged in the wrong dihedral and do not, consequently, allow the panic lock to be directly adapted to the door, we will then proceed to reverse the set of levers and actuation bar.

To effect this reversal on the device shown in FIGS. 1 to 6, a force is exerted on the stop element 14, in the direction of the length of the bottom 6 of the housing 4, so as to move this stop element 14 in translation on the bottom 6 in order to position the recess 16 below the end of the operating lever 2 as shown in FIG. 3. The angular movement of the lever 2 is then no longer limited by the protuberance 15 a on which said lever 2 came to rest. The lever 2 can then be pivoted because the cylindrical pin 12 enters the recess 16.

As soon as the pin 12 (or cylindrical stop) of the lever has entered the recess 16, the stop 14 can be released which is returned to its median position of rest by the spring or springs 18.

It then suffices to continue the initiated tilting of the lever 2 to pass it through the second dihedral, to its rest position. During this tilting, the pin 12 of the lever will push the stop 14 by acting against the inner flank of the protuberance 15 b and causing the compression of the corresponding spring 18. As soon as the pin 12 has reached the top of the protuberance 15 b , the springs 18 will recall the stop 14 in its median position of rest and the upper face of the protuberance 15 b will slide under the pin 12. The stop 14 will play its role again while the position of lever 2 has been reversed.

That of the branches 11 of the spring 10̸ which were initially in abutment on the stop 12 of the lever 2 is passed in abutment on the lug 13, the other, which was that in abutment on the lug 13, is abut on the abutment 12. The spring 10̸ therefore accomplishes its return function for the two possible zones of movement of the lever 2.

Simultaneously, the lever 3 has pivoted about its axis 8, the maneuvering pin 22 describing an arc of a circle tangentially to the convex part 27 of the bearing surface 25 of the bolt 23, so as to pass from one notch 26 to another.

The panic lock is thus ready to be used on the door, the opening direction of which did not correspond to the initial configuration of the lock.

Pour inverser le sens d'utilisation de la serrure représentée sur les figures 7 et 8, on desserre la vis 155 de façon à autoriser le pivotement de l'élément 150̸ autour de l'axe 153.To reverse the direction of use of the lock shown in FIGS. 7 and 8, the screw 155 is loosened so as to allow the element 150̸ to pivot about the axis 153.

By slightly releasing the lever 2 from the stop 151, the stop element 150̸ is pivoted by a quarter turn relative to the axis 153. This new position of the stop element 150̸ allows the angular movement of the lever 2, this lever 2 can pass just above the leg 152 and thus change the dihedral.

Une fois ceci réalisé et le levier 10̸2 remonté dans le deuxième dièdre, on fait à nouveau pivoter l'élément butée d'un quart de tour dans le même sens, de façon à ce que la butée 151 se retrouve au niveau de l'extrémité du levier 10̸2, symétriquement à sa position initiale par rapport au plan perpendiculaire au fond 10̸6 passant par l'axe 153.Once this has been done and the lever 10̸2 reassembled in the second dihedral, the stop element is again pivoted by a quarter of a turn in the same direction, so that the stop 151 is found at the end of the lever 10̸2, symmetrically in its initial position relative to the plane perpendicular to the bottom 10̸6 passing through the axis 153.

Une fois ceci réalisé, on serre à nouveau la vis 155 de façon à bloquer en position, l'élément butée 150̸.Once this has been done, the screw 155 is again tightened so as to lock in position, the stop element 150̸.

In the same way as previously, the supports of the branches 111 of the springs 110̸ have been interchanged, as well as the cooperation of the notches 26 with the operating pin 22. Thus tilted, this panic lock is ready to be mounted on a door, thanks to reversing its operating direction.
