Abstract

The method and the apparatus serving for carrying out the method allow the combatting of domestic mites in a simple and environmentally friendly manner and without the use of chemical substances. For this purpose, a vacuum cleaner nozzle, which is known per se, interacts with a source of hot air in such a way that the site to be treated is subjected in one operation to the short-term effect of hot air with subsequent suction. The vacuum cleaner nozzle bears a hot air blower (7), through which heated air flows via a blower slot (8), located in front of the suction channel (6), onto the area to be cleaned.

Description

The invention relates to a method for controlling the dust mite and an apparatus for performing this method.

Dust mites are known to be found in mattresses, upholstered furniture, carpets and in almost all textile objects, up to 10,000 per m². Dust mites have long been a problem for many people because they react to them with allergies, which are not only caused by the mites themselves, but mainly by their excrement, which is around 200 times their body weight. The problem of people who are allergic to these excrement can only be solved permanently by destroying the house dust mites.

So far, the house dust mite has been controlled by chemical means. However, this requires a certain amount of experience or a skillful manipulation with the chemical substance, as well as knowledge that the textiles to be treated are not chemically attacked. It has also not been shown to be harmless to health in every chemical agent.

The invention has for its object to provide a method and an apparatus of the type mentioned and thereby enable easy handling, avoid the use of chemical substances and work in an environmentally friendly manner.

This object is achieved in that a known vacuum cleaner nozzle interacts with a hot air source in such a way that the area to be treated is subjected in one operation to the brief exposure to hot air with subsequent suction.

The device for carrying out this method is characterized by a vacuum cleaner nozzle consisting of an upper part and a lower part, which is attached to a suction pipe via a joint and a swivel joint, a suction channel running in the lower part across the nozzle working width and the vacuum cleaner nozzle itself carrying a hot air blower which flows through a heated air slot in front of the suction channel onto the surface to be cleaned.

A preferred embodiment of the device according to the invention is described in more detail below with reference to the schematic drawing, for example; the single figure shows a side view of the device according to the invention.

A vacuum cleaner nozzle consisting of upper part (1) and lower part (2) is attached to a suction pipe (5) via a joint (3) and a swivel joint (4). In the lower part (2), a suction channel (6) runs over the nozzle working width and the vacuum cleaner nozzle itself carries a hot air blower (7) through which heated air flows onto the surface to be cleaned via a blow slot (8) located in front of the suction channel (6) .

This hot air treatment is necessary so that the mite releases its clinging with textile fibers. A purely mechanical processing therefore does not lead to the desired success. It has been shown that the temperature of the air emerging from the blow slot (8) must preferably be in the range from 60 to 70 ° C., because on the one hand this makes the mite extractable and on the other hand the textile fiber is not yet attacked.

The hot air blower (7) is powered by a power cable (9); however, it can also be powered independently of the power supply by a battery (not shown), which is optionally rechargeable.

The invention combines two functions, namely the control of the house dust mite by elevated temperatures, so that its clinging with textile fibers is released, followed by a suction process, which then - together with its excrement - sucks these mites off. The device described operates in an environmentally friendly manner in accordance with the task on which it is based, since it does not leave any chemical conversion products or other processing traces.
