Abstract

The cylindrical pill dispenser has two main constituents which have concentric walls (1, 2) and are displaceable relative to each other in the longitudinal direction. <??>The inner concentric wall (2) has at least one recess (3), in which an inwardly directed counter-piece (4) on the inside surface of the outer concentric wall (2) fits. The two concentric walls (1, 2) have the correct angular position relative to each other and the pill dispenser can be actuated only when the counter-piece (4) is aligned precisely above the recess (3). Upon actuation in a different relative angular position of the two main constituents, the counter-piece (4) strikes against the upper edge (5) of the inner concentric wall (2). The pill dispenser is thus child-resistant. <IMAGE>

Description

The present invention relates to a tablet dispenser according to the preamble of claim 1.

A tablet dispenser of the type mentioned is known for example from EP-A-0'284'557. However, the tablet dispenser shown here cannot be turned into every relative angular position of the two main components.

So far, tablet dispensers have been used almost consistently for small tablets with simple contours. Such tablets were primarily harmless in nature, such as sweetener or ascorbic acid tablets. Tablet dispensers according to the above-mentioned EP-A-0'284'557, however, also allow the delivery of larger tablets with a complex shape, such as they occur for pharmaceutical indications.

However, the authorities usually require childproof packaging for such purposes.

From US-A-3'656'647 a child-proof container closure is known, the lid having two counterparts, which are accommodated in the concentric wall of the container in corresponding labyrinthine recesses and thus only permit opening if the two parts in are aligned with each other at a corresponding angular position.

The present invention has now set itself the task of improving a tablet dispenser of the type mentioned in such a way that it is childproof.

  • Figur 1 eine aus einem Tablettenspender herausgebrochene Partie in perspektivischer Darstellung;

The overall design of the tablet dispenser was deliberately omitted. In this regard, reference is made to the patent specification mentioned at the beginning which represents the prior art.

The two main components of the tablet dispenser under discussion here each have a cylindrical wall 1 and 2, respectively. These two walls, which are oriented concentrically to one another, move relative to one another in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the dispenser when the tablet dispenser is actuated. The longitudinal ribs usually present on at least one of the two main components, which make it impossible for the two main components to rotate relative to one another, have been omitted. The term main components was chosen here to express that it can have other parts in addition to the main components, but these are not important for the present invention. Each main component can also be assembled from several elements.

In the simplest embodiment according to FIG. 1, the wall is 2 of the lower component with a smaller diameter with a recess 3. In the present example, this recess is a slot. With a greater thickness of the wall 2, it could also be just a groove on the outside of the concentric wall 2. An inwardly directed counterpart 4 is arranged on the inner surface of the outer concentric wall of the main component of the tablet dispenser located above. In the non-compressed state of the tablet dispenser, the counterpart 4 lies above the upper edge 5 of the inner concentric wall and at least partially projects above it. This ensures the relative rotatability of the two main components. The counterpart 4 can be a simple cam, a pin or, as an example shown here, an approximately radially oriented rib. Markings (not shown) are attached to the outer surfaces of the two concentric walls. If the markings of the two main components are brought into agreement by rotating them relative to one another, the counterpart 4 lies exactly above the recess 3 and the tablet dispenser can be actuated by pressing the two main components together.

However, such a design leaves open the possibility that a child playing under the two parts low pressure twisted against each other until the counterpart snaps into the recess 3, after which it can actuate the dispenser. A solution to safeguard against this randomness is shown in FIG. 2. For this purpose, the upper edge 5 of the inner concentric wall 2 is provided with tooth-shaped elevations 6 between which the counterpart 4 in the example shown can snap into the rib and thus make the described relative rotation under pressure impossible. The variants explained so far can also serve as a transport lock against unintentional actuation.

If you forget to twist the two main components towards each other after each operation in the above examples, child safety is eliminated and the tablet dispenser can be operated as often as required in the set position. This can be advantageous under certain circumstances, for example in the case of sick and elderly people, in the vicinity of which there are no children and who have difficulty in unlocking anyway.

The two designs shown in FIGS. 3a and b and 4a and b lead to an automatic request in a childproof position after each actuation. In these variants, the inner concentric wall 2 is provided with an inwardly projecting wall thickening 7.

In its area runs from the upper outer edge 5 downward and inward inclined ramp-shaped recess 3 '. The wall thickening 7 has an edge 8 running perpendicular to the inner concentric wall 2. This edge 8 forms a sliding surface that slopes at least in one direction of rotation.

The counterpart 4 is attached to the other main component with the outer concentric wall 1. In this variant, this must be designed to be resilient in the radial direction and at the end have a scanning element 9 which engages under the lower edge 8 of the wall thickening 7 when the lifting movement is returned. The counterpart 4 can be a leg 10 fastened to the main component with the outer concentric wall 1 or a support arranged at a distance from the inner surface of the outer concentric wall 1.

As in the previous example, the two main components must be rotated relative to each other until the markings on the concentric wall, which are not visible, are aligned with each other. If you now press the tablet dispenser, the radially resilient counterpart 4 runs with its scanning element 9 into the recess 3 'and slips inward over the ramp-like surface of the recess until finally the scanning element the recess 3 'leaves and springs back towards the outside and engages under the lower edge 8 of the thickening 7. Under the spring force of the tablet dispenser, the two main components move apart again in the axial direction, whereby they also necessarily rotate relative to one another until the scanning element 9 has slipped past the inclined lower edge 8 of the wall thickening 7. The inclination of the lower edge 8 must be so great that no self-locking occurs.

Again, it would be possible for a playing child to find the snap-in position of the tablet dispenser by twisting it under pressure. But this problem can again be solved in the manner already described. However, since the lower surface of the scanning element is usually larger than the distance between two adjacent elevations 6, the underside of the scanning element must be provided with teeth 11 of the same type.

In such a configuration and in particular when the lower edge is inclined in only one direction of rotation, it makes sense to provide ratchet-like means on the two main components which only allow rotation in one direction.

This makes it possible, for example, to provide the tablet dispenser with 3 or 7 recesses, so that it is in 3 or 7 positions can be pulled. For tablets that have to be taken three times a day, for example, you can now turn the two main components to a "Tomorrow" mark and operate the tablet dispenser. Then he automatically turns one step towards a "noon" mark. Now, as before, you have to continue turning until you reach this mark in order to move towards the "Evening" mark after another actuation. This process is repeated. Due to the inevitable direction of rotation, an unintentional double intake is hardly possible. The same version with seven recesses and seven markings corresponding to the days of the week is also feasible.
