    d) a heating element (9) comprises a PTC resistor plate (12) having a temperature-resistant outer casing (15), and
    e) the housing (1) is in the form of a truncated pyramid with eight inclined lateral surfaces, four of which are constructed as tapering surfaces which are at least approximately triangular.
  2. Device for binding pages by heating, at least one page being provided with an adhesive element at the edge which is to be bound, characterised by the combination of the following features:
    a) the device has a housing (1,16) provided with an elongate opening through which a binder to be heated can be inserted with its spine facing inwards,
    b) inside the housing is mounted an elongate, heat-conducting rail (7) the upper side of which is at least substantially planar and the lower side of which is provided with a longitudinal slot (8) formed between two relatively thin, elongate strips,
    c) at least one heating element (9) is inserted in the slot (8) forming a heating device together with the rail (7),
    d) a heating element (9) comprises a PTC resistor plate (12) having a temperature-resistant outer casing (15), and
    e) the heating element (9) consists of a PTC resistor plate (12) inserted between two plates (10, 11) which conduct heat and current, these two plates (10, 11) each being provided with a connection (13, 14), respectively and the three plates (10, 11, 12) being held together by an insulating sleeve (15) consisting of a temperature-resistant electrically insulating material.
  3. Device according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the elongate rail (7) is substantially π-shaped in cross-section.
  4. Device according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the heating device comprises heating elements which are inserted in the slot (8) one after another in the longitudinal direction in order to achieve better distribution of temperature.
  5. Device according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that a second rail is provided running parallel to the first rail (7), capable of being electronically cooled or consisting of a perforated plate in order to effect air cooling.
  6. Device according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterised in that the opening is divided, by three thin plastics plates (2,3,4), into two chambers into which two binders can be inserted simultaneously.
  7. Device according to one of claims 2 to 6, characterised in that the cross-section of the housing (16) is at least substantially octagonal, rectangular or round in a plane perpendicular to the direction of the elongate opening (20).
  8. Device according to claim 7, characterised in that the housing (16) is provided with wire clips for laterally securing folios, folders or the like.
  9. Device according to one of claims 1 to 8, characterised in that the upper side of the rail (7) is covered with a thin insulating layer, eg. a woven fibre glass strip (21).
  10. Device according to one of claims 1 to 9, characterised in that the housing (1,16) has legs or supports for holding the device somewhat higher on the table and thereby allowing the circulation of air.
  11. Device according to one of claims 1 to 10, characterised in that a photoelectric switch and a timer are provided so that, after a predetermined time after the insertion of a fresh binder, a luminous surface lights up to indicate that the binder should be taken out.
  12. Device according to one of claims 1 to 11, characterised in that a switch (18) is provided on an end face of the housing (16).
