Definitions
- the present invention relates to a bottle stopper for degassing the contents of the bottle before it is completely closed.
- Caps are known for closing a bottle in two stages. Firstly, the stopper is placed on the neck of the bottle, inside which it is centered thanks to a tubular body partially introduced into the neck and stopped on the latter by means of an external stopper, in the form of a bead. , which comprises the tubular body.
- This tubular body has longitudinal notches regularly distributed around its circumference, which allow the product contained in the bottle to be treated or lyophilized, generally under vacuum, the gases resulting from this treatment being able to leave this partially capped bottle through the notches of the tubular body.
- the treatment being finished the bottle is closed hermetically by fitting the tubular body into the neck. This fitting can be carried out with a press, a closure cap then being attached by screwing onto a thread outside the neck, and secured to this tubular body by gluing at the end of screwing.
- a device of this type is illustrated by the document GB 2.026.995.
- a plug has also been proposed which comprises in a single part, therefore in a single plastic material, the central tubular body and the threaded outer skirt.
- this one-piece stopper is not completely satisfactory, in particular as regards its fitting into the neck and its maintenance in this neck before complete closure and with regard to the final seal achieved.
- the scalloped end portion of the central tubular body is generally too flexible to ensure correct maintenance of the stopper in the neck during the operations of gassing of the product located inside the bottle.
- the present invention intends to provide an improvement to these prior stoppers by which the stopper is stably placed in the neck during the period of treatment of the product before closure, and ensures during complete closure a satisfactory seal.
- the invention therefore relates to a stopper for a bottle allowing the degassing of the contents of the bottle before complete closure, in which a tubular body, secured at one of its ends to a smooth top wall of the bordered stopper an outer and concentric skirt whose internal surface is provided with a thread to cooperate with a complementary thread carried externally by the neck of the bottle, is provided with at least a first outer peripheral bead, of diameter greater than the inside diameter of the neck of the bottle, and openings in the wall of the body, the upper edge of which is located between the bead and the top wall.
- the aforementioned openings are formed between a portion of an annular wall full of the tubular body close to its free end, and a transverse wall of the tubular body formed opposite a second outer bead of this body.
- the transverse wall is in the form of a concavity vault facing the free end of the tubular body.
- the lower part of the openings constitutes an at least partial recess of the first bead.
- This figure shows in phantom the upper part of a neck 1 of a bottle, the inside diameter D is smooth while its outside diameter is fitted with a thread 2.
- the plug secured in this neck has a central tubular body 3, the terminal part 4 of which is a solid annular wall housed in the neck. This annular wall is limited at its end by a slightly conical surface 5 to facilitate its introduction into the neck. The outside diameter of this solid annular wall is substantially equal to the diameter D of the neck.
- the tubular body 3 Opposite its free end, above the solid annular part 4, the tubular body 3 comprises a first bead 6 with an outside diameter greater than the diameter D. This outer bead 6 therefore forms a stop for the penetration of the tubular body 3 in the neck.
- the wall of the tubular body 3 extends above this bead 6 to a second bead 7, of outside diameter also larger than the diameter D of the neck.
- the tubular body 3 has a transverse wall 8 in the form of a dome or arch whose concavity is turned towards the free end of the tubular body 3.
- the tubular body 3 Above the bead 7, the tubular body 3 is finally extends by a cylindrical part 9 of diameter at most equal to the diameter D of the neck, which part 9 is connected to a top wall 10 of the plug extending annularly outwards from the tubular body 3.
- This top wall 10 is itself equipped with an outer skirt 11 and concentric with the tubular body 3, the inner surface of which has a thread 12 capable of cooperating with the thread 2 of the neck 1.
- openings 13 formed through the wall of the tubular body, to put its interior space in communication with the outdoor atmosphere.
- These openings 13 have an upper edge 14 located near the birth of the bead 7, and a lower edge 15 located at the level of the bead 6, inside its axial dimension, the lower part of each opening 13 then forming a recess of this bead 6.
- the openings 13 are located above the end of the neck 1 when the plug is partially pressed into this neck and stopped by the bead 6.
- the outer surface limiting the beads 6 and 7 is a frustoconical surface 16, the small diameter of which is located on the side of the free end of the tubular body.
- the stopper does not completely stop the bottle, thus making it possible to subject the product contained in the bottle to a treatment, in particular degassing, the gases resulting from this treatment being able to escape out of the bottle through the openings 13.
- the presence of the annular portion 4 inside the neck 1 ensures good stability of the stopper thus introduced, allowing handling of the bottles without risk of loss of the stopper.
- this annular portion is favorable to the introduction of the stopper to this position, unlike the previous devices in which the end part of the tubular body was divided by the notches in fragile and deformable tongues which could be damaged during putting in automatic place of the caps, or even which could overlap the wall of the neck.
- the bottle is finally closed either by means of a machine or by hand, pushing the stopper until the threads 2 and 12 engage. depression can be achieved with or without rotation of the plug.
- the resistance to sinking offered by the bead 6 is minimized by the recesses of this bead, due to the arrangement of the lower edges 15 of the openings 13 inside the same bead.
- the radial compression of the bead 7 is transmitted to the transverse partition 8 which sees its curvature increase, in an elastic manner, this wall 8 then forming a spring for the application of the bead 7 against the internal surface of the neck 1.
- the height of the skirt 11 of the plug is limited to the level of the bead 7.
- a longer skirt 11 can be provided so that the thread 12 is engaged in the thread 2 before the bead 7 comes into contact with the neck.
- the skirt 11 should not be too long to avoid creating a baffling for the gases escaping from the bottle through the openings 13, between these openings, the end of the neck and the end of the skirt .
