Description

The invention relates to a device for treating objects with UHF energy, consisting of an elongated treatment room, which is constructed from treatment sections and temperature compensation sections, which is provided on the entrance and exit sides with UHF locks, through which a conveying device runs and on its top and / or underside is provided with feed devices for UHF energy, which are connected to their UHF energy source via waveguides, some parts of the top of the treatment space being designed as hinged covers to the side of the feed devices.

Such a device has become known from DE-26 42 152, which has a treatment room with a C-shaped cross section, the open side of which can be closed by hinged doors. This device has the advantage that UHF energy can be fed into the treatment room from above and from below, and that the treatment room is accessible everywhere for operating and cleaning work. In order to have a fixed connection of the feeders for the UHF energy to the waveguide supplying the UHF energy can, one has accepted the disadvantage that the operating and cleaning work must be carried out in a stooped position. Because UHF treatment rooms are arranged at a height of 60 to 110 cm.

From FR-A-25 00 707 it has become known to also provide UHF radiators in the cover of a treatment room and to supply the UHF energy from the supplying waveguide via flexible conductors which have a coaxial conductor in a corrugated hose. However, such coaxial conductors suffer if they are bent very often. The coupling of the UHF energy from a waveguide into a coaxial conductor and from the coaxial conductor back into another waveguide, as is done in this known device, is often associated with difficulties, losses and disturbances.

The invention avoids the disadvantages of the prior art. It is the object of the present invention to provide a system for treating products with UHF energy which, with a simple construction, allows the treatment room to be opened from above over the entire length of the treatment room without the energy coupling causing difficulties.

The invention consists in that parts of the top of the treatment room with UHF feed devices are designed as hinged or removable covers, and that of the UHF energy source waveguide leading to the UHF feed device has a joint arranged in the axis of the lid hinges in the waveguide, consists of at least two parts that can be detached from one another and is surrounded at the joint location by a trap for UHF energy.

This device is easy to manufacture and is characterized in that the energy transfer is realized in a simple manner and the system is trouble-free with a long service life. Wear parts such as flexible coaxial conductors are avoided.

It is structurally particularly simple and very advantageous if the two waveguide parts abut one another with flanges at the joint. This ensures a good energy transfer and a wear-free design of the joint.

Another possible embodiment is that the two waveguides are offset next to one another at the articulation point and have an opening on the mutually facing sides which is surrounded by a mechanical annular joint.

So that the treatment room is completely microwave-proof during operation, it is expedient if at least one cover part is provided on at least one side with a microwave trap and covers an adjacent cover part or an end part of the treatment room.

For some applications, it is expedient if the treatment room has a single cover which covers both feed points and temperature compensation sections.

It is also expedient for structural reasons if at least one branch to different feed points is provided for each magnetron, and if feed points fed by a magnetron are assigned to a cover.

The treatment room is composed of six parts, two of which are designed in the same way. On the input side, the treatment room has an entrance lock 1, to which a treatment section 2 is connected and to this a temperature compensation section 3. This is followed by a treatment section 2 and then to a temperature compensation section 3. These sections forming the treatment room are closed at the end by an exit lock 4. Each of these routes is provided with its own cover 5, 6. Each lid is attached to two hinges 7. The covers 5 of the treatment sections carry a waveguide 8 with two feed points 9 entering the interior of the treatment section. The waveguide 8 has two elbows 10 which lead to the articulation point 11 which is arranged coaxially with the joints of the hinges 7. Another waveguide 12 leads from this joint point to the UHF energy source 13.

Beidseitig überfaßt der Deckel 5 mit seinen UHF-Fallen 14 den benachbarten Deckel 6 der Erholungsstrecke 3 bzw. die Schleuse 1, 4.On both sides, the cover 5 with its UHF traps 14 covers the adjacent cover 6 of the recreational area 3 or the lock 1, 4.

This joint can be manufactured in various embodiments. In the exemplary embodiment of FIGS. 4 and 5, the waveguides 8, 12, which are rectangular in cross section, each have a flange 15, indicated by dashed lines, at their ends, which are surrounded by an articulated ring 16 with two inwardly directed flanges. This ring 16 is designed as a microwave trap. The waveguide 8, 12 are rectangular. When closed, their cross sections are aligned with one another, when open, the cross sections are perpendicular to one another.

In the exemplary embodiment in FIG. 6, the waveguides 8, 12 each have an opening 17 on the sides facing one another, to which a piece of pipe 18 with a flange 15 connects. The two flanges 15 are covered by an articulated ring 16 with inwardly facing flanges. This joint ring 16 is designed as a microwave trap.

In the exemplary embodiment in FIG. 7, the two waveguides 8, 12 are connected with their openings 17 by a metal hose 19.

A conveyor belt 20 runs through the treatment room as a conveyor device.

In the exemplary embodiment in FIG. 8, two waveguide parts 21, 22 are inserted one into the other. Both parts have a cross-sectional jump on the inside and outside. Their internal cross-section is identical. The length of the tube sections inserted into each other is a quarter of the wavelength.
