Description
The invention relates to a device for treating objects with UHF energy, consisting of an elongated treatment room, which is provided on the entrance and exit sides with UHF locks, through which a conveying device runs, and which has feed devices on its top and / or bottom is provided for UHF energy, which are connected to their UHF energy source via waveguides, parts of the upper side of the treatment room being designed as hinged or removable covers to the side of the feed devices.
Such devices have been on the market for more than 15 years and are primarily used for the vulcanization of rubber compounds and the crosslinking of plastics, which are usually shaped as extruded profiles. In these treatment sections, parts into which UHF energy is fed and in which the objects to be treated are heated by the UHF energy alternate with intermediate temperature compensation sections in which the is not always uniform the energy fed to the object to be treated is offered the opportunity to spread evenly as heat in the object to be treated. The UHF energy is fed into these treatment rooms from above and / or below, because this facilitates the uniform distribution of the energy and the uniform propagation of the electromagnetic fields. The side feed is not so cheap, especially for wide products.
Since it occurs, albeit in rare cases, that the objects to be treated accumulate within the elongated treatment room and because cleaning of the treatment room is required from time to time, parts of the top of the treatment room are designed as hinged covers, so that a Access to the interior of the treatment room is possible. These covers are arranged at the location of the temperature compensation sections. So far, however, there are no covers where the UHF energy is fed into the treatment room. Because at these points, the UHF energy is supplied via solid waveguides, which would have had to be removed to open the lid, which is associated with a considerable amount of work. The lack of good accessibility to the interior to be cleaned is particularly disadvantageous at this point, because this is where the material to be treated is heated to the highest degree and therefore the most likely point of evaporation, which is most likely to be found on the inner wall of the treatment room and must be removed because they can become the cause of a fire.
With this device, it was also known to pre-produce the individual parts of the treatment room - infeed sections and temperature compensation sections - in the same way and then to assemble them modularly to form the treatment section.
With knowledge of this device, a UHF treatment room was then developed, which is described in DE-OS 26 42 152 and which can be opened over its entire length in order to be able to access the objects to be treated anywhere in the event of a fault and still around the UHF treatment room easier to clean. For this purpose, the treatment room was given the shape of a lying U or a C shape. One side wall, which is open all the way, can be closed for operation by means of flip-up doors. The advantage of this arrangement is that the feed can continue from above and the treatment room can still be opened over its entire length. The disadvantage, however, is that work inside the treatment room is made more difficult by the fact that the operator can only perform this work in a bent position. Because UHF treatment rooms are arranged at a height of 60 to 110 cm so that the incoming and outgoing product to be treated is clearly visible at the entrance and exit and that rearrangements or other manipulations can also be carried out by hand on this product. This cleaning work in a stooped position was accepted because it is very important to feed the UHF energy into the treatment room from above. There is also the danger here that the cleaning and inspection work to be carried out in an uncomfortable position will not be carried out with the necessary care. In addition, the scattered radiation exit that is present despite all the safety measures is unfavorable here because the entire scattered radiation emerges to the side on which operators are located.
The invention avoids the disadvantages of the prior art. It is the object of the present invention to provide a system for treating products with UHF energy which, with a simple construction, allows the treatment room to be opened from above over the entire length of the treatment room.
The invention consists in that those parts of the upper side of the treatment room which are provided with UHF feed devices are designed as hinged or removable covers and that the waveguide leading from the UHF energy source to the UHF feed device is flexible or consists of at least two parts separable from each other.
With this design of the device, it is possible to open the entire treatment room from above, which greatly simplifies maintenance and cleaning work. This is because the operator can now carry out this work without having to go into the stooped position or to be hampered by cleaning and inspection due to the treatment room parts being closed on all sides. Scattered radiation is also emitted only from a sealed slot to the side that is used by operators.
An advantageous embodiment is that the flexible design of the waveguide is realized by a joint arranged in the axis of the lid hinges in the waveguide, the two articulated waveguide parts being surrounded by a trap for UHF energy at their joint location.
In this embodiment, it is expedient if the two waveguide parts run coaxially at the hinge point in the axis of the lid hinge and abut one another with flanges at the hinge point. Such an embodiment is easy to implement. Your advantage is that no UHF energy is lost at the joint.
Another embodiment is that the articulation point in the waveguide is formed by two nested waveguide parts of circular cross section, preferably with a constant inner cross section. The two waveguide parts expediently overlap at the joint by 1/4 of the wavelength.
Another embodiment has the same advantages, in which the two waveguides are arranged offset next to one another at the articulation point and have an opening on the mutually facing sides which is surrounded by a mechanical, annular articulation.
In a fundamentally different embodiment, the technical success is achieved in that the flexible Training of the waveguide is realized through the use of a metal hose.
So that the treatment room is completely microwave-proof during operation, it is expedient if at least one cover part is provided on at least one side with a microwave trap and covers an adjacent cover part or an end part of the treatment room.
For some applications, it is expedient if the treatment room has a single cover that covers both feed points and temperature compensation sections.
It is also expedient for constructional reasons if at least one branch to different feed points is provided for each magnetron, and if feed points fed by a magnetron are assigned to a cover.
