Description

The invention relates to a mattress with an enveloping bag that is divided into chambers and contains a filling made of natural, free-flowing materials.

Natural mattresses, which are made exclusively from natural materials, lead to a pleasant sleeping climate, but the mattress filling, usually straw or the like, is not very elastic, it creates cavities and after a relatively short period of use, the mattresses become firm and unyielding. Nothing changes a cork filling for the mattress quilted in chambers, as it emerges from GB-A-119 442. Since these cork pieces stick together quite well, these cork mattresses result in a fairly hard, immobile support and, in order to offer a certain convenience, have to be filled with cork pieces of certain size differences. Apart from that, according to GB-A 2 184 009, from which it was assumed in the preamble of claim 1, there are already cushions and pillows with a filling of natural and free-flowing materials, such as wooden balls, but also beans or the like, but these are only smaller head pads that do not form any chambers and are not suitable for comfortable support of the whole body.

Mattresses with rubber or foam fillings, innersprings u. The like are again permanently elastic and durable, but because of the artificial origin of their components they are associated with undesirable chemical and physical side effects for many.

The invention is therefore based on the object to eliminate these deficiencies and a mattress of the above To create a type that is a pure natural mattress and yet is characterized by its permanently elastic properties and the attainable comfort.

The invention solves this problem in that with the glume, grains and. The like. Filled envelope bag as the core and a fleece layer made of linen combs as the core cover are incorporated into a cover made of a linen fabric or the like, with quilting seams, links and the like provided for mutual holding. Like. Run through the seams of the bag compartments. Spelled husks or other grain husks, rice grains or other cereal grains are particularly well suited as chamber fillings, because on the one hand they are organic, by their capillary action hygroscopic materials that convey the desired sleeping climate, and on the other hand they bring about the elasticity effect sought by their trickle-freeness and their setting in chambers. The free-flowing filling of the chambers yields under weight and conforms to the shape of the body, but relieving them brings them back to their original position so that there is no risk of solidification, cavity formation or the like. The result is a natural mattress with optimal lying properties that supports the resting body softly, compliantly and yet elastically. A core mattress with a permanent structure is obtained from pure natural products, to which the stitching or the like can contribute without impairing the movement of the grains in the chambers due to their course through the chamber separating seams. The mattress properties are retained over the long term and a full condition renewal is possible at any time by shaking the mattress.

According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the envelope bag has in a manner known per se longitudinal chambers that have a maximum cross-section of about 20 to 30 cm in width and a maximum height of about 3 to 10 cm. Experiments have shown that longitudinal chambers of this dimension lead to the best lying comfort, since these chambers provide ideal conditions for the movement of the grains when evading and receding and the frictional conditions on the wall surfaces prevent the formation of cavities.

In the drawing, a mattress according to the invention is illustrated in more detail with the aid of a partially cut diagram.

As the core of a mattress 1 there is an enveloping bag 2, which forms longitudinal chambers 2a and chamber-wise with glume, grains and the like. Like. Free flowing natural material 3 is filled. The longitudinal chambers 2a have an essentially oval cross section with a greatest width of about 25 cm and a greatest height of about 10 cm. A fleece layer 4 made of linen combs is used as the core cover, and the envelope bag 2 and fleece layer 4 are worked together into a cover 5 made of linen fabric. Linkages 6 run through the separating seams 7 of the longitudinal chambers 2a and secure the mattress structure without crossing the longitudinal chambers 2a.

The result is a pure natural mattress with the best lying properties, as the free-flowing material 3 in the Chambers 2a yields under load, but returns to the starting position when the load is relieved, so that a permanently elastic mattress 1 with a soft, adaptable support effect is obtained.
