Abstract

Wall drainage formed by a strong but intermittent ventilation in the cavity of a double wall of a building in order to remove all the moisture which could accumulate therein; this makes it possible to apply techniques based on the small thermal inertia of the walls, which techniques are capable, in particular, of additional savings in energy of the order of 30 to 50%.

Description

The invention relates to a type of drainage of residential walls making it possible to evacuate, as it is formed, the moisture which would tend to accumulate, whatever the cause. The humidity in the walls decreases the thermal insulation of the material which is impregnated with it and promotes the formation of fungi and vermin, sources of many diseases.

The hollow wall, whose vacuum (called "slide") is ventilated or not has been used on a large scale for many years. It tends to disappear nowadays since the use of very insulating products (polyurethane, polyisocyanurate ...) spread in the void of the wall.

The disadvantage of these insulation systems is that the humidity introduced into the wall either by accident, or by condensation, or by rising capillary action ... comes out very difficult. On the other hand, to avoid significant condensation, we are forced to give up techniques, which would make it possible to obtain very substantial energy savings.

The present invention consists in remedying these drawbacks by placing the slide as close as possible to the interior atmosphere and by ventilating it energetically and very intermittently (for example, a few minutes per hour).

The advantages of this method are:
  • accelerate the evacuation of moisture from the wall during the period of non-ventilation, the hot and dry air of the runner exerting a real pumping effect.
  • reduce the heat losses and the electrical energy consumption of the fan to very acceptable values.
  • by placing the slide very close to the interior atmosphere, the thermal capacity of the room is reduced, which makes it possible to use a much more economical heating pipe.

In the current state of the art, the methods use natural ventilation, which is necessarily very irregular and random. In addition, the evacuation of the condensed water vapor in the interior wall is greatly hampered by the presence of an insulator on the interior wall. Or else certain processes (US-E-29.804, for example) have recourse to devices making it possible to carry out:
  • either the complete airtightness of the interior cavity
  • or the injection, into this cavity, of previously dried air.
  • or the drying of the air inside the cavity, by introducing, for example, calcium chloride, which obviously has to be renewed regularly.

The ventilation according to the invention will be obtained in particular, advantageously
  • by the maximum possible reduction in the thickness of the interior wall.
  • by placing the insulation on the inner face of the outer wall of the wall, the objective to be achieved is to accumulate, in the air of the slide, the maximum humidity coming from the inner wall.

Claims (3)

  1. Operating procedure for ventilation of the wall void, in which the air is replaced intermittently, characterized by the fact that this renewal takes a few minutes per hour only.
  2. Operating procedure for ventilation of the wall void, in accordance with requirement "1", characterized by the fact that, between two active ventilation periods, the air in the void remains still.
  3. Operating procedure for ventilation of the wall void, in accordance with requirements "1" and "2" , characterized by the fact that the resistance to water damp diffusion between the in house atmosphere of the building and the void is reduced to minimum.
