Abstract

The downspout strainer (1) is formed from a one-piece wire (4) which is coiled in the shape of a spiral, the downspout strainer having a cylindrical portion (2) which can be inserted into the pipe (8) and a portion (3) of larger diameter adjoining this portion. The configuration of the downspout strainer according to the invention makes it easy to manufacture by means of an automatic machine, the downspout strainer being constructed in this case in such a way that, when used as a pipe covering for rainwater drainpipes of houses, it is ensured that small-sized leaves can pass unhindered through the downspout strainer into the rainwater drainpipe or, when used as a closing safety device in chimneys, it is ensured that birds cannot nest in the chimney or fall into it. <IMAGE>

Description

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Rohrsieb. The invention relates to a tubular screen.

Pipe sieves are used, for example, to protect rainwater drainage pipes from houses from clogging by leaf leaves or to close chimneys so that birds cannot nest in them or even fall into them. From DE-OS 32 07 604 a tubular sieve is known which consists of a plurality of wire pieces bent from individual wire lengths with open ends pointing in the same direction, which are fastened between two interconnected leaflets, one of which leaflets has bent tongues, that overlap the wire pieces at their open ends. Although this tubular screen has largely proven itself in practice, it can only be produced with a great deal of effort. It has also been shown that due to the wire pieces oriented essentially in the longitudinal direction of the tube, such tubular screens may be pulled out of the chimney by birds or due to the orientation of the wire pieces, so much leaf foliage accumulates in front of the tubular screen that the outflow to itself Rain gutter connecting drain pipe is obstructed.

The object of the invention is to provide a tubular screen which can be produced in a simple manner by means of an automatic machine, but which is structurally designed in such a way that when used as a pipe cover for rainwater drainage pipes of houses it is ensured that leaf leaves of small size are unhindered by the pipe strainer get into the rain drain pipe can or when used as a closure in chimneys it is ensured that birds cannot nest or fall into the chimney.

The tubular strainer according to the invention is characterized in that it is formed from a one-piece wire which is wound helically, the tubular strainer having a cylindrical section which can be inserted into the pipe and a section of larger diameter adjoining this.

In the tubular screen according to the invention, the cylindrical section is thus designed in the manner of a helical spring, to which the section of larger diameter adjoins. The cylindrical section can be inserted into the cylindrical chimney opening or into the cylindrical opening of the rain drain pipe, it not being necessary for the tubular strainer to be held in the pipe in the region of the cylindrical section in the manner of an interference fit. As a rule, it will be sufficient if the cylindrical section has a sufficient length and a slightly smaller outside diameter than the inside diameter of the tube. However, it is considered advantageous if the outside diameter of the cylindrical section is slightly larger than the inside diameter of the tube. If the tubular strainer is inserted into the tube in the manner of a screw rotation, this leads, owing to the design of the cylindrical section in the manner of a coil spring, to result in a slightly reduced outer diameter during the rotary movement of the tubular strainer, which enables the tubular strainer with the cylindrical section insert into the pipe. After the rotary movement has ended, the helical spring relaxes, as a result of which the individual windings of the cylindrical section of the tubular screen are pressed against the inner wall of the tube and thus hold the tubular screen securely in the tube. The coordination of the diameter of the cylindrical section and the tube thus enables a secure hold of the tubular screen in the tube even with short lengths of the cylindrical section.

It is particularly important in the case of a tubular screen according to the invention that the wire windings run in the plane of the tube opening and not in the longitudinal axis of the tube, as in the prior art. This leads to the fact that in the plane of the wire windings, leaf foliage brought in by the rain gutter can be conveyed through the pipe strainer to the rain drain pipe if it has such small dimensions that it fits through the space between two windings. The tubular strainer according to the invention thus only holds back leaf leaves of larger dimensions, which generally leads to blockage of the rain drain pipe, while leaf leaves of smaller dimensions can pass through the tubular strainer unhindered and are discharged through the rain drain pipe.

In order to give the tubular screen a particular stability, in particular in the region of the cylindrical section, it is provided according to a particular embodiment of the invention that the two first and / or last windings of the cylindrical section are designed as windings which come into contact with one another.

In principle, it is only necessary that the section which is adjacent to the cylindrical section which can be inserted into the pipe and which is outside the pipe has a larger diameter than the cylindrical section. In this context, however, it is considered advantageous for manufacturing and assembly reasons if the section adjoining the cylindrical section is spherical.

The tubular screen is preferably made of galvanized steel force, which can also be plastic-coated, or of copper or stainless steel.

The inventive design of the tubular strainer in the manner of a wound element makes it possible to vary winding distances and wire thicknesses in a simple manner, with which a variety of different tubular strainers can be provided. There is also the possibility to shape the spring, so that it can not only be used in a cylindrical tube cross section.

In the figures 1 to 3, the invention is shown for example in one embodiment, without being limited to this embodiment. It shows:
  • FIG. 1 shows a side view of the tubular screen,
  • Figure 2 is a plan view of the tubular screen according to arrow A in Figure 1 and
  • FIG. 3 shows a section through a chimney opening with a tubular sieve inserted therein in a representation according to FIG. 1.

The figures show the tubular screen 1 according to the invention, which has a cylindrical section 2 and a spherical or onion-shaped section 3 directly adjoining this. The tubular strainer is wound from a one-piece wire 4. The cylindrical section 2 of the tubular sieve initially has two wire sections 4a and 4b which come directly into contact with one another in the region of its end facing away from the spherical section 3, the wire section 4b is adjoined by a helical section with larger-spaced wire sections 4c, adjacent to the spherical section 3 again two wire sections 4d and 4e directly on top of each other. The wire section 4e is adjoined by the spherical section 3, which is enlarged in terms of its outer diameter compared to the outer diameter of the cylindrical section 2, with the same spiral spacings, the wire sections initially expanding in their outer diameter up to the center of the spherical section 3 and then up to the end 4f of the wire taper continuously, so that the spherical section 3 presents itself as a spiral spring.

In FIG. 3, the pipe screen 1 inserted into a cylindrical pipe opening 5 of a chimney 6 is shown. The outside diameter of the cylindrical section 2 is slightly larger than the inside diameter of the pipe opening 5, an insert zen of the tubular screen 1 with a rotational movement about the longitudinal axis 7 of the tube screen leads to a reduction in the outer diameter of the cylindrical section 2, with which the tubular screen can be used with this section in the tube opening 5 and after completion of the turning process the cylindrical section 2 against the wall 8 of the Chimneys 6 braced. The superimposed wire sections 4a and 4b or 4d and 4e of the cylindrical section 2 give the tubular screen 1 in the area of the cylindrical section 2 a special rigidity and thus an increased hold in the pipe opening 5 of the chimney 6.
