Description

The invention relates to a corrugated roller for a single-sided corrugated cardboard machine according to the preamble of patent claim 1.

In corrugated cardboard machines on one side, it is known that two corrugated rollers interact, between which a paper web is corrugated by largely plastic deformation. A press roller interacts with the lower corrugating roller and presses the cover sheet against the corrugated sheet, the shaft tips of which have previously been provided with glue. In the circumferential area of the lower corrugating roller between the embossing engagement with the upper corrugating roller and the press roller must be maintained while Wellform Ensure that the corrugated web clings to the grooving of the lower corrugating roller. Older single-sided corrugated cardboard machines use so-called fingers, which are thin sheet metal plates that surround the mentioned corrugated roller area of the lower corrugated roller in a crescent-like manner from the outside at axial intervals. For this purpose, the upper corrugating roller is provided with ring grooves in which the fingers engage. Such ring grooves of the upper corrugating roller have the disadvantage that they lead to a corresponding deformation of the surface of the lower corrugating roller. It is therefore necessary to adjust the corrugated rollers axially against each other from time to time in order to even out the wear.

More modern single-sided corrugated cardboard machines are so-called fingerless machines. From DE-PS 2 840 150 it has become known to arrange a vacuum chamber along the outer circumferential area of the lower corrugating roller which is not covered by the corrugated cardboard web. Via axially spaced ring grooves in the corrugated roller, a negative pressure is also generated in the peripheral region of the lower corrugated roller in which the corrugated cardboard web lies. From DE-PS 2 713 464 it has also become known to generate such a negative pressure in the ring grooves in that the lower corrugating roller connects an inner one with the negative pressure source which has channel which is connected to the annular grooves via radial bores. In the circumferential area of the corrugated roller that is not covered by the corrugated cardboard web, “fingers” are again arranged in the ring grooves in order to prevent a “short circuit” of the vacuum. In contrast to the finger machine, in which the guide plates are subject to considerable wear and must therefore be replaced frequently, the fingers in the known machine described last only represent a seal which results in far less wear. From DE-PS 2 951 774 it has also become known to provide, instead of a central channel in the lower corrugating roller, a plurality of axially parallel longitudinal bores which are connected to the annular grooves via radial bores. From EP-PS 0 009 907 it has also become known to guide such axially parallel suction channels so that they cut the ring grooves.

In a reversal of the suction principle, it has become known from US Pat. No. 4,261,784 to assign a pressure chamber to the area of the lower corrugating roller wrapped by the corrugated cardboard web in order to press the corrugated cardboard web against the surface of the corrugating roller. To generate a corresponding differential pressure, the lower corrugating roller is again provided with axially spaced ring grooves. Out US Pat. No. 4,368,094 has also become known for engaging nozzles in annular grooves of the lower corrugating roller which are connected to a vacuum source.

In all the cases mentioned, one of the two corrugated rollers is therefore provided with ring grooves. However, such ring grooves can cause a reduction in the quality of the corrugated cardboard. The corrugated cardboard web to be formed between the corrugated rollers is under considerable tensile stress. The web is therefore deformed into the area of the ring grooves. In this area there is no bonding with the cover sheet afterwards. Furthermore, the stability of the corrugated cardboard is weakened in the direction of the corrugation.

It has now become known from EP-PS 0 025 759 to arrange short slots in a ring-like manner on the circumference of the lower corrugating roller instead of circumferential ring grooves and to alternately connect them to vacuum or pressure channels. Even with such slits, the tension of the web deforms it into the slits, but not continuously as with continuously rotating ring grooves. However, such a corrugated roller has other disadvantages. Naturally, they collect in the ring grooves and also in the slots after one dust and dirt for a certain period of operation, which affects the function of the grooves and slots. The corrugated roller must therefore be cleaned from time to time. However, cleaning the slots is extremely complex. The production of a corrugated roller with slots is also complex since these have to be milled separately piece by piece. The necessary chrome plating of such a corrugated roller is also complex, since diaphragms have to be introduced into the individual slots in order to omit the slots.

The invention has for its object to provide a corrugated roller for a single-sided corrugated cardboard machine, which reduces the impairment of the corrugated cardboard by necessary grooves to a minimum, without influencing the function of the grooves or the corrugated roller.

This object is achieved by the feature of the characterizing part of claim 1.

In the corrugated roller according to the invention, the groove no longer runs perpendicularly to an axis-parallel surface line, as in the prior art, but at an angle not equal to 90 ° thereto. There are different possibilities, to bring about such a groove course. According to one embodiment of the invention, one is that a helical groove is formed. It can also be two or more courses. Another possibility is to provide annular grooves as before, but to arrange them at an angle to the axis of the roller. According to a further embodiment of the invention, the ring grooves can also be arranged such that they have opposite inclinations on both sides of the longitudinal center. Finally, helical or ring-shaped grooves can also intersect, for example ring grooves crossing each other in pairs can be provided.

In the corrugated rollers according to the invention, the advantage of a simple cleaning possibility, as is also given with conventional ring grooves, is maintained. However, the disadvantages associated with the conventional ring grooves are largely eliminated. Due to the oblique course of the ring grooves relative to the direction of the web, there is, if at all, only a slight deformation of the web in the region of the groove, so that the deterioration in the quality of the corrugated cardboard which had previously been accepted has been eliminated. Even a certain amount of deformation would be less disadvantageous in that it would no longer line up runs parallel to the longitudinal axis of the web, but obliquely thereto, so that, for example, it can no longer happen that such a deformation runs parallel to a crease line of a folding carton and impairs its function.

The production of the corrugated roller according to the invention is no more complex than conventional corrugated rollers with circular ring grooves and less complex than with corrugated rollers with annularly arranged slots. The corrugated roller according to the invention also has increased bending stiffness compared to conventional annular grooves having corrugated rollers.

Upper and lower corrugated rollers usually have different numbers of teeth. A groove arranged according to the invention therefore, in contrast to known corrugated rollers, no longer leads to ring-like projections on the corrugated tips opposite the groove due to the lack of abrasion in relation to the grooves, rather the wear of the counter roller is evened out, so that the axial displacement of a corrugated roller from time to time does not is more necessary. The effect described results in a longer service life. Above all, the adverse phenomena are due to the hump on the corrugation tips, which lead to a deterioration in the quality of the corrugated cardboard, are avoided.

The corrugated roller according to the invention is advantageously suitable for all types of corrugated cardboard machines as have become known up to now, i.e. for both finger machines and for fingerless machines.

The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to drawings.
  • Figures 1 to 5 show schematically different embodiments for corrugated rollers according to the invention.

Before going into the details shown in the drawings, it should be stated that each of the features described may be of importance for the invention, either individually or in conjunction with features of the claims.

Die Form der Nuten ist ebenfalls nicht dargestellt, sie kann der üblicher Nuten bei Riffelwalzen gleichen.1 shows a corrugating roller 10, for example the lower corrugating roller of a fingerless single-sided corrugated cardboard machine, which has a conventional corrugation, but which is not shown for the sake of simplicity. From the longitudinal starting in the middle, helical grooves 11, 12 extend to the left and right with a predetermined pitch. Furthermore, helical grooves 13, 14 extend on both sides from the longitudinal center, which have the same pitch as the grooves 11, 12, but are offset in the circumferential direction, as in the case of a two-start thread. The shape of the grooves is also not shown, it can be the same as the usual grooves in corrugated rollers.

Fig. 2 zeigt eine Riffelwalze 20, die eine Reihe von axial gleichmäßig beabstandeten ringförmigen Nuten 21 aufweist, die in einem Winkel ungleich 90° zu achsparallelen Mantellinien verlaufen.FIG. 2 shows a corrugated roller 20, which has a series of axially uniformly spaced annular grooves 21, which run at an angle unequal to 90 ° to axially parallel surface lines.

Eine zweite Gruppe von ringförmigen Nuten 32 ist mit der entgegengesetzten Neigung wie die Nuten 31 geformt und so angeordnet, daß sich die Nuten 31, 32 an diametral gegenüberliegenden Punkten schneiden.3, a first group of annular grooves 31 is provided, the arrangement of which is similar to the grooves 21 according to FIG. 2. A second group of annular grooves 32 are shaped with the opposite inclination as the grooves 31 and arranged so that the grooves 31, 32 intersect at diametrically opposite points.

The ring grooves 41, 42 have an opposite slope, are otherwise arranged similarly as described in connection with the roller 20 of FIG. 2.

The annular grooves according to FIGS. 2 to 4 represent closed loops, which makes cleaning particularly easy with the aid of a cleaning element inserted into the grooves, which performs a reciprocating movement parallel to the axis during the rotation of the corrugating roller. In the case of a helical groove, as shown in FIG. 1, the cleaning element can also move axially parallel during the rotation of the roller. Arrived at one end of the roller, the direction of rotation of the roller must be reversed. However, a helical course is also conceivable, in which the cleaning element is automatically reversed at one end and moves axially in the opposite direction.

Fig. 5 shows two helical grooves 51, 52 in a corrugated roller 50 with opposite but equal pitch.

As can be seen, each section of the grooves of the individual corrugating rollers runs at an angle to the direction of the paper track, which also indicates the direction of the tractive force. A shaping of the paper web into the grooves therefore no longer takes place or only to a limited, negligible extent.
