Abstract

There is provided an automatic drinks dispenser, especially a cocoa dispenser, by means of which two liquids of widely varying viscosities can be mixed with one another in a predetermined ratio differing sharply from one. The automatic drinks dispenser contains a roller-type hose pump with two parallel delivery hoses of identical dimensions and material properties, which produce the predetermined mixture ratio of the drink ingredients as a result of the speeds, different because of the different viscosities of the liquids, at which they resume their original form after being compressed. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to an automatic beverage dispenser, in particular an automatic cocoa dispenser, in which two liquids of different viscosities are mixed together in a predetermined quantity ratio and which dispenses a predetermined amount of the beverage mixed from these liquids.

Some beverages, such as cocoa in particular, only have a special pleasant taste when they are drunk freshly prepared. Vending machine for dispensing drinks, which are to deliver such drinks freshly prepared and which are intended for use in canteens, self-service restaurants or the like, for example, must therefore be able to dispense the basic liquid, for example hot water, and the beverage material to be added to it, for example an extract or cocoa paste to mix with each other in a predetermined ratio and to deliver in precisely measured total quantity.

Simple flow control valves are not very suitable for the quantity adjustment of the beverage components, since the flow rate of the beverage components depends very much on the viscosity of the same. The use of piston pumps, with which an exact quantitative dosage per se would be possible (cf. US-A-2 654 505), is not recommended, since in them the beverage components can come into contact with lubricants for the moving parts and thus their taste is affected entirely apart from restrictions imposed by food regulations. Piston pumps of this type also require a considerable amount of maintenance and tend to fail, particularly if there are longer downtimes between individual beverage removal processes, in which beverage constituents can settle on pump parts and possibly solidify.

From DE-A-33 09 603 a device for the metered delivery of milk is known, which contains a roller hose pump, with which milk is sucked out of a storage container and delivered to a receptacle, which stands on a scale that is reached when it is reached a weight corresponding to a predetermined amount of milk stops the pump operation. Such a peristaltic pump avoids moving parts that come into contact with the milk and makes it possible to keep the milk in the device sterile. This device is, however, neither suitable nor intended for the mixing of two liquids with one another in a predetermined ratio and, furthermore, is relatively complex since it requires a balance with which the weight of the container intended for the intake of milk must first be determined, so that it is independent of the exact one Weight of this receptacle always equal amounts of milk are given when operating the device.

The invention has for its object to provide a beverage dispenser of the type mentioned, with which two liquids of very different viscosities can be mixed together in a ratio which differs greatly from 1 and which is a predetermined amount of dispenses mixed liquids into these liquids without the weight of the vessel holding the liquid quantity having to be determined.

This object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1. Advantageous embodiments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.

The invention is based on the fact that liquid quantities can be dosed relatively precisely with peristaltic pumps. It is also based on the knowledge that the speed with which the hose of a peristaltic pump is able to regain its original shape after being compressed by a pressure roller and thus exert a suction effect in a liquid that is largely supplied without pressure from the viscosity of this liquid depends. The present invention makes use of this knowledge, because with it it becomes possible to use hoses of identical cross-sections and material properties for the conveyance of two liquids which have very different viscosities, because the hose which conveys the more viscous liquid, less quickly its original shape after compression, assumes than the other hose, which for example promotes water. Since in a hose pump of this type the amount of liquid pumped per pump cycle is relatively small, typically only a few, for example 3 to 5 cm³, the rotor in the pump, which carries the pressure rollers, has to rotate several times, so that by means of the speed of the pump rotor Means are available that are able to stand up in a suitable manner, taking into account the speed at which the pump hoses are able to straighten up again after being compressed are can be selected.

The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to an embodiment shown in the drawings. It shows:
Fig. 1
a schematic representation of a beverage dispenser according to the invention, and
Fig. 2
2 shows a section through the roller hose pump in FIG. 1 along the line II-II in FIG. 1.

Via lines 3 and 4, the two aforementioned storage containers 1 and 2 are provided with a hose pump, designated overall by 5, which contains two pump hoses 6 and 7, which are arranged parallel to one another on the inner circumference of a cylinder 8. The two lines 3 and 4 are connected to the inlets of the pump tubes 6 and 7, while the outlets of these pump tubes are connected to lines 9 and 10 which lead to a mixing container 11 in which a stirrer 12 is arranged. The mixing container 11 has an outlet line 13 in which a valve 14 is located. The outlet of the valve 14 is the outlet of the beverage dispenser, under which a receptacle 15 can be arranged.

The hose pump 5 has a rotating rotor inside, consisting of a shaft 16, which is driven by a motor 17 and which carries an arm 18, on each end of which a roller-shaped pressure roller 19 is rotatably mounted. The pressure rollers 19 are in engagement with the pressure hoses 6 and 7 such that they can compress the inner cross section almost or completely without damaging the hoses 6 and 7 (see Fig. 2 above).

The pump tubes 6 and 7 are made of a material with good resilience, for example silicone rubber.

The control device 20 acts on the electric motor 17 in such a way that it actuates the electric motor 17 for a predetermined period of time when the pushbutton 21 is actuated once. This time period is dimensioned such that a predetermined total amount of liquid is dispensed by the peristaltic pump 5. Furthermore, the control device 20 is connected to the stirrer 12 in order to put it into operation for a predetermined period of time when liquids are dispensed from the pump 5 to the mixing container 11. Furthermore, the control device 20 is also connected to the outlet valve 14 in order to open it in a suitable timing with the operation of the stirrer 12.

In the present example, temperature sensors 22 and 23 are arranged on the storage containers 1 and 2 and are connected to the control device 20. Both storage containers 1 and 2 have temperature control devices 24 and 25 which can be controlled by the control device 20 and ensure that predetermined temperatures are maintained in the storage containers 1 and 2.

For dispensing a cocoa drink made from hot water and a cocoa paste in a ratio of 5: 1 is mixed together, a peristaltic pump has proven to be advantageous in which the cylinder 8 has an inner diameter of approximately 7 cm, the pump hoses consisting of silicone rubber each having an outer diameter of 9.5 mm and a wall thickness of approximately 1.75 mm and have an arc of about 320 ° in each cylinder. At speeds of the shaft 16 with the arm 18 attached to it in the range between 50 and 100 rpm, the aforementioned mixing ratio of five parts water to one part cocoa paste could be achieved with this peristaltic pump.

For the operation of the device, it is not necessary that the total amount to be dispensed per portion is taken up by the mixing container 11, rather the mixing container can be operated in continuous operation, at least for part of the operating time. Possibly. the outlet valve 14 can also be omitted.
