Definitions
- the present invention relates to a universal stick according to the preamble of claim 1.
- a stick for the optional attachment of an ice ax or a snow shovel is described in EP-A-0 191 917.
- Means are also provided for bluntly connecting the two tubes and using them as an avalanche pole.
- the mutual coupling of the two tubes of the stick takes place by mutually rotating the tubes, with which, depending on the direction of rotation, an expansion cone penetrates or is withdrawn from an expansion sleeve in order to couple or uncouple the tubes accordingly.
- This mutual twisting by an indefinite rotary movement is disadvantageous in that the mutual orientation of the parts attached to the free pipe ends, e.g. Handles and tools, not preserved. It is also uncertain whether the tubes of the boom, which interlock with play, always remain mutually rotatable, especially when used in snow and ice.
- DE-A-2 140 450 discloses a stick which can be assembled from three tubular parts and which can be provided with a handle or a snow plate or the like, in particular as a ski and hiking stick. In this case, however, there is no continuous adjustment of the stick length.
- a length-adjustable ski pole in which an expansion cone under spring force in one floor part presses an expandable coupling sleeve against the inside of the other floor part. By pressing down on the stick plate, the expansion cone can be disengaged against the spring force in order to move the stick parts into each other.
- the disadvantage here is that the Plate is not firmly attached to its stick part and that the stick parts can be unintentionally uncoupled by external force on the plate.
- a length-adjustable ski pole is known, the parts of which are coupled by means of a body which can be expanded under axial pressure.
- a spindle is also provided for loading or unloading the expandable body, which requires a mutual rotation of the stick parts for coupling or uncoupling.
- the aim of the present invention is to create a continuously adjustable stick for versatile use, which is safe and easy to operate under constant conditions. This goal is achieved with the measures according to the characterizing part of claim 1.
- the coupling and uncoupling of the pipes does not require any mutual twisting of the pipes.
- a particular simplification is that the pipes are normally coupled under spring action and can be uncoupled by simple pressure.
- the universal stick shown has a shaft consisting of an upper, outer tube 1 of larger diameter and a lower, inner tube 2 of smaller diameter, which slidably engages in the lower end of tube 1 and is guided by the lower, tapered end of tube 1 is.
- a spring clip 3 is inserted, which normally holds a safety button 4 in the outer position shown, in which this safety button 4 e.g. engages in a through hole 5 of a handle 6 with a loop 6a and secures this handle on the tube 1.
- the handle 6 has a bore 7, in which the tube 1 engages practically without play, so that the handle 6 is stably connected to the tube 7.
- a coupling tube 8 of a stick buffer 9 engages in the lower end of tube 2.
- a securing button 10 similar to the securing button 4, is held by means of a spring clip 11 and engages in a coupling tube 8 coupled to the tube 2 according to FIG. 1 in a hole 12 in the tube 2 and thus secures the stick buffer 9 at the lower end of the tube 2nd
- the actual coupling members are a cone 14 and one surrounding ring of balls 15.
- the balls 15 are held in an axially displaceable cage 16 which is connected by means of a cross pin 17 to an axially displaceable release rod 18.
- a compression spring 19 acts between the upper end of the release rod 18 and the cone 14, which presses the cone upwards relative to the cage 16 connected to the release rod 18 and thus the balls 15.
- the cone 14 thus presses the balls 15 radially against the inner wall of the tube 1, thereby ensuring the connection of the tubes 1 and 2 that is secure against tension and compression.
- the cone 14 consists of one piece with a piston 20.
- this piston 20 there are compression springs 21 which press balls 22 against the inner wall of the tube 1.
- the elements 20 to 22 act as a brake, which allows an axial displacement of the cone 14 in the tube 1 only by overcoming a certain force.
- the upper end of the trigger rod 18 is guided axially displaceably in a sleeve 23.
- the sleeve 23 has an annular bead 24 into which an annular bead 25 of the tube 2 which is pressed engages and secures the sleeve 23 in the tube 2.
- the lower end of the release rod 18 is coupled by means of a cross pin 26 to a piston 27 which can be displaced in the tube 2 and which has a flat cone 28 at the lower end.
- a pusher 29 can act on this conical surface 28, which is normally held in the outer, inactive position shown by a compression spring 30.
- the piston 27 and thus the release rod 18 can be moved axially upwards.
- the cage 16 with the balls 15 is also raised relative to the cone 14 held by the brake with sufficient force, that is to say with a cone 14 which exceeds the force of the spring 19.
- the pipes 1 and 2 are thus uncoupled from one another and can be shifted into one another.
- the tubes 1 and 2 and their displacement path can be chosen for example that the stock shaft is about 0.70 m when pushed together and about 1.20 m when fully extended.
- Figures 2 to 5 show, on a somewhat smaller scale than Figure 1, the versatility and ease of use of the stick.
- the handle 6 is designed and usable as a combined walking stick handle and ski stick handle.
- the handle In the position according to Figures 1 and 2, the handle is transverse to the longitudinal axis of the stick and is coupled to the same by means of the holes 5 and 7 according to Figure 1.
- the handle can be connected in the position of Figure 3 with corresponding holes 5 'and 7' in the direction of the longitudinal axis with the stick shaft. Accordingly, with the lower end of the tube 2, the buffer 8, 9, according to FIG. Fig. 5) are connected to the lower end of the stick shaft.
- a coupling sleeve 37 is held removably on a rubber ring 35a, which serves a purpose explained later.
- a crutch handle 36 according to FIG. 4 can also be connected to the upper end of the stick shaft, which has a bore 5 ⁇ and a bore 7 ⁇ corresponding to the bores 5 and 7 according to FIG.
- the pole with the longitudinal handle 6 and the snow plate with tip 34 has a total length of, for example, 1.32 m.
- the stick shaft 1, 2 must be shortened accordingly.
- An extension piece can be provided which can be inserted between the lower end of the tube 2 and the snow plate 33 and which has corresponding coupling means at its ends. This intermediate piece can, for example have a length of 30 cm to bring the ski pole for cross-country skiing to a total length of about 1.60 m.
- FIG. 6 shows the use of a pair of poles according to the invention as a makeshift avalanche probe.
- Two poles equipped as ski poles are used for this purpose, from which both handles 6 have been removed and one of the snow plates has been removed from the tip 34.
- the two tubes 1 of the shafts are connected to one another by means of the coupling sleeve 37.
- This coupling sleeve is a very simple part, namely a sleeve into which the stick ends can be inserted with little play and which have two bores 38 for receiving the coupling buttons 4.
- This avalanche probe has a length of approximately 2.40 m. If available, the extension pieces mentioned above could also be used to achieve a probe length of approximately 3.00 m.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a universal stick according to the preamble of claim 1. Such a stick for the optional attachment of an ice ax or a snow shovel is described in EP-A-0 191 917. Means are also provided for bluntly connecting the two tubes and using them as an avalanche pole. The mutual coupling of the two tubes of the stick takes place by mutually rotating the tubes, with which, depending on the direction of rotation, an expansion cone penetrates or is withdrawn from an expansion sleeve in order to couple or uncouple the tubes accordingly. This mutual twisting by an indefinite rotary movement is disadvantageous in that the mutual orientation of the parts attached to the free pipe ends, e.g. Handles and tools, not preserved. It is also uncertain whether the tubes of the boom, which interlock with play, always remain mutually rotatable, especially when used in snow and ice.
In diesem Falle ist jedoch keine stufenlose Einstellung der Stocklänge vorgesehen.DE-A-2 140 450 discloses a stick which can be assembled from three tubular parts and which can be provided with a handle or a snow plate or the like, in particular as a ski and hiking stick. In this case, however, there is no continuous adjustment of the stick length.
From FR-A-2 267 808 a length-adjustable ski pole is known, in which an expansion cone under spring force in one floor part presses an expandable coupling sleeve against the inside of the other floor part. By pressing down on the stick plate, the expansion cone can be disengaged against the spring force in order to move the stick parts into each other. The disadvantage here is that the Plate is not firmly attached to its stick part and that the stick parts can be unintentionally uncoupled by external force on the plate.
From FR-A-1 430 274 a coupling is known in which an expansion cone also acts on an expandable sleeve. The expansion cone is connected to a spindle which is rotatable in a thread of the sleeve, and the sleeve is secured against rotation by a resilient friction brake. This design is expensive and prone to failure, and it requires a relative movement between the parts to be connected.
Entkuppeln erfordert. From DE-A-28 34 260 a length-adjustable ski pole is known, the parts of which are coupled by means of a body which can be expanded under axial pressure. A spindle is also provided for loading or unloading the expandable body, which requires a mutual rotation of the stick parts for coupling or uncoupling.
The aim of the present invention is to create a continuously adjustable stick for versatile use, which is safe and easy to operate under constant conditions. This goal is achieved with the measures according to the characterizing part of claim 1. The coupling and uncoupling of the pipes does not require any mutual twisting of the pipes. A particular simplification is that the pipes are normally coupled under spring action and can be uncoupled by simple pressure.

The universal stick shown has a shaft consisting of an upper, outer tube 1 of larger diameter and a lower,
In the outer tube 1 there is a
Figures 2 to 5 show, on a somewhat smaller scale than Figure 1, the versatility and ease of use of the stick. As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the handle 6 is designed and usable as a combined walking stick handle and ski stick handle. In the position according to Figures 1 and 2, the handle is transverse to the longitudinal axis of the stick and is coupled to the same by means of the
Sofern verfügbar, könnten auch noch die oben erwähnten Verlängerungsstücke eingesetzt werden, um eine Sondenlänge vonn etwa 3,00 m zu erreichen.FIG. 6 shows the use of a pair of poles according to the invention as a makeshift avalanche probe. Two poles equipped as ski poles are used for this purpose, from which both handles 6 have been removed and one of the snow plates has been removed from the
