Abstract

The packing 1 for, preferably, several containers 7, in particular cans of paint, has an elongate shape to accommodate the containers 7, arranged one after the other in a row, and has retaining means for fixing the containers 7 in their position within the packing 1. The arrangement is such that the retaining means consist in each case of fixing tabs 8 which are assigned to one container 7, are arranged non- displaceably within the packing 1 and, when the packing 1 is closed, engage in the depressed lid 9 of each container 7 to fix it in its position.

Description

The invention relates to a packaging for several containers, in particular paint cans, according to the preamble of claim 1 and a blank for such a container packaging according to the preamble of claim 8.

In the case of a known container packaging of the generic type (FR-A-1 557 757), a packaging base with side parts molded onto it is provided. A packaging cover is molded onto one of the side parts and has two semicircular incisions. These form two flaps which, when the packaging is closed, can extend into the lid area of the containers arranged in the packaging.

However, the known container packaging has the disadvantage that the flaps only prevent the containers from falling out of the packaging, but cannot fix their position. The known packaging can only fulfill this function if it is completely filled with containers.

The invention is therefore based on the object of designing the generic type to eliminate the disadvantages described in such a way that it ensures a secure fixation of the containers contained therein regardless of the intended number of containers with little design effort and also facilitates automated formation of the finished packaging . In addition, an easily produced blank for such packaging is to be created.

The packaging created according to the invention to achieve this object has the features specified in claim 1. Advantageous refinements of this are specified in the further claims.

The blank created according to the invention for such packaging has the features listed in claim 8.

The packaging according to the invention is based on the idea of designing the holding means provided for fixing the containers in such a way that, when the packaging is closed, they engage from above in the recessed lid of each container, in such a way that a correct positional fixation of each container is ensured.

For this purpose, on the one hand, the fixing tabs according to the invention are fixed to the packaging or firmly connected to it, a preferred embodiment being that the fixing tabs are formed in one piece with the packaging. In this context, it corresponds to an expedient design if the fixing tabs connect as a row of tabs with a number of tabs corresponding to the maximum number of containers to a side wall of the packaging.

On the other hand, it is within the scope of the invention to provide the shape of the fixing tabs in such a way that it at least partially corresponds to the shape of the recess in each container lid. Preferably, the fixing tabs, if the packaging for receiving containers with a circular lid is provided, are largely approximately semicircular, so that this ensures that the position of the container within the packaging is securely fixed to the tab circumference within the lid edge. Of course, the flap shape can also be provided in a corresponding complementary manner in containers with a differently designed lid shape, for example with a square lid or with a square lid recess. In addition, it is of course also possible to design the respective fixing tab, regardless of the shape of the cover or the shape of the depression provided therein, in such a way that only a punctiform, but nevertheless fixed contact of the tab within the cover recess is achieved. For example, in the case of a container with a circular lid or a correspondingly formed depression, a square-shaped tab results in a point-like contact of the tab at its two outer corners within the lid recess.

In order to ensure that the fixing tabs engage in the lid recess in a position that is largely parallel to the container lid, it is provided in a further embodiment of the invention that the fixing tabs have a recess on the inside at the common contact point with the lid edge. The lid edge then projects into this recess when the packaging is closed.

In a corresponding design, it can further be provided according to the invention that the packaging has a recess on the inside on the side wall at the point of contact with the container.

Overall, the advantage of the packaging according to the invention is that it can be manufactured with little design effort, since no separate intermediate webs, shelves and the like are required in order to securely fix the position of the containers to be accommodated within the packaging. Rather, it is only necessary to provide a row of tabs firmly connected to the packaging, the individual fixing tabs of which are preferably complementary to the recess provided in the lid of each container. Such packaging or the correspondingly designed packaging blank greatly facilitates the automation of the packaging of the individual containers, since it is now possible, starting from the flat packaging blank, to arrange the corresponding number of containers to be packed on the packaging base of the blank and then in an automated manner Form the finished packaging from the blank, while ensuring the simultaneous secure fixation of the individual containers.

A particularly significant advantage of the packaging according to the invention can also be seen in the fact that not only is no separate filling material, as previously necessary, required to fix the containers, but that the packaging is also suitable for holding containers in a number less than the maximum possible number is, without the otherwise inevitably occurring problems with regard to the position fixation as well as the weight balance arise. If only two or three containers are arranged in a packaging according to the invention, which is intended, for example, to hold a maximum of 5 containers, these are nonetheless immovably secured in their position by means of the fixing tabs which engage in the depressions of the respective container lids. At the same time, it is easily possible to arrange this smaller number of containers within the packaging in such a way that the overall packaging has a balanced weight distribution.

Finally, another not insignificant advantage of the packaging according to the invention is that its stackability is retained even if fewer than the maximum possible number of containers is arranged therein, since in such a case the packaging is still due to the weight balanced arrangement provided container allows the stacking of other packaging.

The packaging according to the invention advantageously allows simple content control to be carried out very easily. Namely, it shows the packaging, for example by means of tear-open thread and by pressing down the divided cover flap including the side wall and the corresponding end wall and connecting flaps, at a glance whether the contents of the package are complete. Since there is no filler material, visual inspection is made easier.

There are also decisive advantages with regard to stackability, since the packaged cardboard blanks can be stacked on a Euro pallet or on shelves in a self-stabilizing way and more easily than before. Furthermore, the capacity per Euro pallet is increased.

Last but not least, a further advantage in terms of disposability is achieved with the packaging according to the invention. The completely unfolded and emptied container packaging represents a flat cut that can be stacked well without further measures and can therefore be easily disposed of.

Fig. 1

The invention is explained below in the form of a preferred embodiment with reference to the drawing. This shows in:
Fig. 1
the packaging or the cut for this in plan view and
Fig. 2
in plan view the packaging or the blank with fixing tabs engaging in the container lid.

As can be seen from the drawing, the container packaging 1 shown or the blank 1 'for this purpose has a packaging base 2, a cover flap 3, two side walls 4 and corresponding end wall and connecting flaps 5 in the usual manner.

The individual parts 2 to 5 of the blank 1 'are divided by fold lines 6 in the usual way so that they can be bent or pivoted against one another in the desired manner.

The various parts 2 to 5 of the packaging blank 1 'have a shape such that the finished packaging 1 has an elongated shape, in such a way that the containers 7 to be accommodated therein are arranged in series one behind the other.

On one side wall 4, a row of fixing straps is formed in one piece instead of the otherwise usual cover flap 3. This consists of individual fixing tabs 8, namely in a number which corresponds to the maximum number of containers 7 to be accommodated by the packaging 1. Since the packaging 1 can accommodate a maximum of 5 containers 7 arranged in a row in the illustrated embodiment, five fixing tabs 8 are accordingly provided.

Assuming that each container 7 has a lid 9 with a recess 10 provided therein, each individual fixing tab 8 is designed such that its shape corresponds at least partially to the recess 10 of each container lid 9. In the illustrated embodiment, this is realized in such a way that the fixing tabs 8 - in the case of a circular container 7 and accordingly also a circular lid recess 10 - are largely approximately semicircular and thus engage in a fixed manner in the lid recess 10 of each assigned container 7 when the fixing tabs 8 are in the out position Fig. 2 can be seen bent at right angles to the adjacent side wall 4 of the package 1.

In order to further improve this position-fixing engagement of the tabs 8 in the lid recess 10, each fixing tab 8, as can clearly be seen in FIG. 1, has an indentation 12 on the inside at the common contact point with the circumferential lid edge 11, which is preferably by pressing or the like. into the material of packaging 1 or packaging blank 1 ', which is expediently made of corrugated cardboard, cardboard or the like.

Sinngemäß weist auch die Verpackung 1 innenseitig an der zugeordneten Seitenwand 4 eine entsprechende Vertiefung 13 auf, und zwar an der gemeinsamen Berührungsstelle mit dem Behälter 7.Correspondingly, the packaging 1 also has a corresponding recess 13 on the inside on the associated side wall 4, specifically at the point of contact with the container 7.

As can be seen in FIG. 2, the containers 7 arranged in a row one behind the other on the packaging base 2 - regardless of whether the maximum possible number of containers 7 or a smaller number is provided - are then properly fixed in their position when they come out of the fixing tabs 8 row of fixing tabs folded around the fold line 6 common to the side wall 4 is folded over in such a way that the individual fixing tabs 8 engage in the cover recess 10 of each assigned container 7.

Thereafter, the finished packaging 1 can then be formed from the remaining parts of the blank 1 'in the usual manner, and also extremely easily overall in an automated manner.

With regard to further features not explained above, reference is expressly made to the drawing and the claims.
