Definitions
- the invention relates to a system for guiding the excavation tool used for producing a wall molded into the ground.
- the walls molded into the ground are executed by alternating or successive elementary panels.
- the finished work is therefore made up of a succession of unitary panels which must be able to guarantee geo-metric continuity during execution.
- two channels are used independently or jointly.
- the first consists of giving to excavation tools (mechanical or hydraulic skips in the case of discontinuous excavation and extraction of spoil, or drum or chain cutters, or rotary cutters in the case of continuous excavation and extraction) a body of great slenderness and of section very close to the excavation section, so as to achieve, in conjunction with the lowering of the center of gravity, self-guidance on the excavation even during execution.
- Control and correction devices can be incorporated into the excavation tools so as to more or less effectively correct any deviation from the theoretical trajectory.
- the second is to guide the excavation tool more or less effectively on the previously executed panel.
- the formwork put in place at the end of the panel before concreting is extracted like a sliding formwork before the complete setting of the concrete.
- the vacuum thus created makes it possible to ensure a certain guiding of the excavation tool when the next panel is executed.
- European patent No. 0 101 350 describes a specific process for extracting the end formwork by lateral formwork which also makes it possible, at the same time, to ensure effective guidance of the excavation tool.
- the guidance function of this device is subject to its simultaneous formwork, the primary object of the invention described.
- this guiding method is basically based on the sliding of two elements one inside the other.
- This system is therefore suitable in the case of the use of clamshell buckets as an excavation tool, but is totally unsuitable in the case of the use of continuous excavation tools such as cutters and wall milling cutters.
- the present invention aims to provide an effective guidance system for the excavation tool during the entire digging operation of an elementary pass.
- the invention relates to a system for guiding the excavation tool used for producing the trenches necessary for the production by successive or alternating panels of a wall molded into the ground, which comprises, in combination, a member vertical guide extending over the height of the trench to be produced and integral with a previously made adjacent wall panel or with a formwork placed at the end of the previously made adjacent panel, and guide wheels carried by the excavation tool and rolling on said guide member, characterized in that: (i) said guide member and said guide wheels are shaped and arranged so that said wheels are retained by the guide member against any horizontal force tending to separate them, and (ii) said wheels are profiled so as to be able to destroy any concrete obstacle or hardened grout possibly present on said guide member as they roll on said member.
- the guide member has, in cross section, a T-profile whose foot extends parallel to the length of the trench to be produced and is secured at its base to a panel of adjacent wall previously made or a formwork placed at the end of said adjacent panel, and the system comprises at least two superimposed pairs of guide wheels oriented substantially perpendicular to said foot, the wheels of each pair being arranged on either side 'other of said foot, the wheels of the lower pair having their profiled periphery in the form of median cutting disc and the wheels of the upper pair having their profiled periphery in the form of two lateral cutting discs separated by an intermediate groove.
- the guide member has, in cross section, an L-shaped profile, one of the branches of which extends parallel to the length of the trench to be produced and is integral with its base. an adjacent wall panel previously made or a formwork placed at the end of said adjacent panel.
- the profiled guide wheels of any concrete obstacle or hardened grout present on the guide member provision may be made to apply to the parts of said member subjected to the action of profiled wheels a rubbery material or a relatively easily destructible material.
- the coating thus formed constitutes a deformable support (in the case of a rubber) or easily destructible (in the case of a friable material, for example) which greatly facilitates the removal of obstacles of concrete or grout hardened by the profiled wheels.
- the guide member comprises a strip extending parallel to the length of the trench to be produced, which is integral with an adjacent wall panel previously produced or with a formwork placed in place end of said adjacent panel, this strip being pierced at regular intervals with through lights so as to form a rack, and the system comprises at least one pair of guide wheels oriented substantially perpendicular to said strip, the wheels having teeth engaging lesdi your lights during the movement of the excavation tool along the guide member.
- the wheels of each pair may be at the same height or slightly offset from one another.
- the system may include pairs of additional guide wheels disposed above the pairs described above. These additional wheels, however, do not need to be profiled at their periphery and can therefore have a conventional flat tread.
- the system of the invention is particularly advantageous in the case where the excavation tool is a cutting machine with continuous excavation. It can also be used in the case where the excavation tool is a dump machine with discontinuous excavation. In the following description, the invention will be more particularly described in relation to the use of a cutting machine as an excavation tool.
- a wall cutter comprising four cutting drums 1 with a horizontal axis mounted in pairs on a central support 2 secured to the superstructure 3 of the machine, the two pairs of drums rotating in opposite directions.
- the four drums belay the entire rectangular horizontal projection surface, with the exception of a central strip 4 of width corresponding to the location of the central support of the machine.
- the guidance system for the excavation tool includes the following different elements: - A fixed guide rail 5 of T-shaped cross section placed in the axis of the previously executed panel ( Figure 2).
- the bar 7 of the T, against the earth end, has a width of the same order as that of the central support of the cutting machine so as to be able to pass into the space existing between the excavation drums.
- this guide rail 5 is secured, at the base of the foot of the T, with a temporary formwork 8 placed at the end of the adjacent panel 9 previously produced, all along the median generatrix of the last.
- a temporary formwork 8 placed at the end of the adjacent panel 9 previously produced, all along the median generatrix of the last.
- This guide rail could also, as a variant, conceive this guide rail as a lost rail, by securing it then to a sealing element incorporated in the panel 9 itself.
- the guide rail thus placed in the plane of symmetry of the panel defines two parallel longitudinal grooves 10 with opposite openings, the common bottom of which is formed by the foot of the T.
- Two superimposed mobile guide assemblies 11 and 12 secured to the excavation machine according to one of the edges of its superstructure and covering the guide rail 5 ( Figure 3).
- Each guide assembly consists of two pairs of wheels, with a horizontal axis, perpendicular to the foot of the T-rail.
- the wheels of the same pair are mounted on either side of the foot of the T-rail so as to engage the two opposite grooves defined by the guide rail.
- the wheels of the same pair can be located at the same level as shown or slightly offset in the vertical direction.
- the lower guide assembly 11 is formed by two pairs of lower 13 and upper 14 wheels profiled at their periphery.
- the lower wheels 13 are profiled in the form of a median cutting disc 15, while the upper wheels 14 are profiled in the form of two lateral cutting discs 16 separated by an intermediate groove 17 (FIG. 1).
- the lower guide assembly 12 is formed by two pairs of lower 18 and upper 19 wheels, the treads of which are flat.
- Each pair of wheels thus opposes any horizontal movement of the machine, whether in its plane or in a perpendicular plane, allowing only a vertical movement in a rolling movement along the guide rail.
- the grooves of the guide rail are cleaned so as to rid them of filling with bypass concrete is provided by the wheels 13 and 14 of the lower guide assembly 11.
- the wheels 13 of the lower pair which are profiled at their periphery in the form of a median cutting disc, cause the concrete possibly present in the grooves 10 to disintegrate by punching along a central groove.
- This punching action is important because the weight of the excavation tool is considerable (several tonnes).
- the wheels 14 of the upper pair which are profiled, at their periphery, in the form of two lateral cutting discs, complete the destruction of the filling concrete thanks to the groove created by previous discs. It will be noted that the cleaning of the guide grooves obviously only arises for the lower mobile guide assembly, the upper guide assembly circulating in cleared grooves.
- the rail 5 has, in cross section, the shape of an L, one of the branches of which extends parallel to the length of the trench to be produced.
- This variant is of a simplified embodiment and is more particularly advantageous in the case where a lost rail is used.
- Figures 5 and 6 is shown another embodiment of the guide system of the invention.
- This embodiment differs from that of Figures 1-3 only in the nature of the guide rail and the wheels of the lower guide assembly.
- the guide rail 5 consists of a single strip extending parallel to the length of the trench to be produced and which is pierced at regular intervals with through holes 20 so as to form a sort of rack
- the lower guide assembly 11 is formed of a pair of toothed wheels 21, the teeth of one of the wheels 21 being offset with respect to the teeth of the other wheel, as shown, so as to come mesh in said lights.
- the rail 5 of the embodiment of FIGS. 5 and 6 could have a T-section like the rail of the module of embodiment of FIGS. 1-3. In this case it would, of course, be the foot of the T which would be pierced with lights.
- each tooth when it meshes with a light, comes to drive out the concrete plug possibly blocking the light.
- each light is given a slight draft towards the outside so as to facilitate the evacuation of the debris.
- one or both cogwheels can be driven by one or more rotary motor (s) incorporated in the superstructure of the machine, in order to help overcome friction and rolling resistance and ensure the correct operation of the device, the driving force of the motor or motors being oriented in the downward direction. Simultaneously this increases the vertical thrust on the excavation drums and, therefore, increases the speed of excavation.
- rotary motor s
- FIG. 7 shows the preferred embodiment in which the surfaces of the guide member 5 subjected to the action of the profiled wheels are coated with a rubber coating 30.
