A sling strap intended to provide for the hoisting and handling of objects or loads particularly by means of suitable equipment such as a crane, travelling crane, block and tackle, etc., and consisting of a flat strap (1) as well as at least one rigid stirrup-shaped member (4) fixed to at least one of the ends (2) of the strap (1), the rigid stirrup-shaped member comprising means of receiving the end (2) of the strap (1) cooperating with means of positioning and guiding this latter and with means of retaining the assembly which is thus positioned, in which the said sling strap has a stirrup-shaped member (4) comprising two lateral flanges (9, 9') respectively provided with bores (10, 10') in which there is articulatingly mounted a rotary assembly (8) constituted by two positioning discs connected on the one hand by a receiving spindle (12) which is an integral part of the receiving means and about which the end (2) of the strap (1) is rolled and returned through 180° and, on the other, on either side of and parallel with the receiving spindle (12), by two bearing spindles (13, 13') defining inter se a slot (14) for guiding the end (2) of the strap (1) situated at right-angles to the receiving spindle (12), the assembly formed by the rotating positioning discs (11, 11') and the bearing spindles (13, 13') constituting the means of positioning and guiding the strap (1), the said sling strap being characterised in that the locking means are constituted on the one hand by two lugs (16, 16') rigid with the rotary assembly (8) and respectively having a bore (17, 17') corresponding to a bore (18, 18') in the stirrup-shaped member and, on the other, by a locking spindle (19) adapted to be introduced into the bores (18, 18', 17, 17') in the stirrup-shaped member (4) and the rotary assembly (8) in order to secure this latter against rotation.
  2. A sling strap according to claim 1, characterised in that the receiving means comprise a slot (7) through which the strap (1) can pass essentially parallel with the receiving spindle (12) and which receives the two strands or this strap after it has been wrapped around the receiving spindle.
  3. A sling strap according to claim 2, characterised in that the slot (7) is defined by two insertion spindles (6, 6') disposed parallel with the receiving spindle (12) at the end of the stirrup-shaped member (4) which is opposite the loop portion (5).
  4. A sling strap according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the rotary assembly (8) is adapted for movement between an insertion position in which the guide slot (14) is situated between the slot (7) and the receiving spindle (12) and a locking position offset by approx. 540° in relation to the position of insertion in which the bores (7, 17', 18, 18') in the lugs (16, 16') and the stirrup-shaped member (4) are in alignemnt to allow the locking spindle (19) to be placed in position.
  5. A sling strap according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that one of the positioning discs (11') or first positioning disc is provided with a winding key (15).
  6. A sling strap according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterised in that it comprises a regulating element (23) consituted by a tubular element (24) of substantially the same length as the locking spindle (19) which it is intended to receive and, if applicable, by two tabs (25, 25') fixed to the tubular element (24) approximately at right-angles to this latter and defining between them a space (26) corresponding to the width of the strap (1) which is to be placed in position.
