- the present invention relates to indicator devices mounted on the fusible electrical protection cartridges in order to signal the operation thereof, and it relates more particularly to devices of this type called “striker” or "indicator”.
- devices of the latter type generally comprise a sliding pusher or “striker” associated with elastic means which tend to drive it axially out of its guide, said pusher being retained in the internal position or “retracted” by a fusible wire reduced section which is mounted in parallel with the main wire or wires or fusible elements of the cartridge in order to melt and release the pusher as soon as these main fusible wires have melted.
- the free end of the signaling pushbutton thus released appears on the outside of the cartridge and indicates to the user that it has worked.
- the release of the pusher can be used to actuate the movable member of a microswitch which switches on a signaling or remote control.
- the present invention particularly intends to remedy, which consists mainly in providing, at the level of the base of the pusher which cooperates with the reduced-section portion of the retaining fuse, an intermediate part which is in contact with said fuse on either side of the aforementioned portion and which is arranged so as to behave on the one hand in a non-conductive manner with respect to the low voltage current which flows through said fuse and therefore not to shunt the reduced section of the latter when the cartridge is traversed by the nominal current, thus allowing with certainty the melting of the reduced section portion as soon as the main fuses have blown, on the other hand conductively very quickly after this melting of the reduced section, by ensuring in this way, like a shunt, the transmission of current between the two parts of the holding fuse arranged on either side of the reduced section portion once s exceeded a certain threshold and thus acting in the manner of a spark gap, and this until practically complete fusion.
