Bei einem Verfahren zur Optimierung der Laufeigenschaften synthetischer Garne bei Lufttexturierprozessen durch Benetzen der Garne mittels Auf­ spritzen von Brauchwasser während des Durchlaufens der Garne durch eine Texturierdüse, werden dem Brauchwasser Polyalkylenglycolverbindungen zugesetzt. Die Molekulargewichte der Polyalkylenglycolverbindungen be­ tragen zwischen 1000 und 6000 Masseineinheiten, vorzugsweise zwischen 2000 und 4000 Masseneinheiten. Die Endkonzentration der zugesetzten Polyalkylenglycolverbindungen liegt zwischen 2 und 6 Gewichsprozent, vorzugsweise zwischen 3 und 5 Gewichtsprozent. Bei einem auf diese Weise behandelten Brauchwasser läßt sich das unerwünschte Ablagern von Faser­ abrieb in der Düseneinheit vermeiden, und die Düsenstandzeit wird ver­ längert, die Prozeßgeschwindigkeit erhöht und der Brauchwasserbedarf ge­ senkt.
