Abstract

Druckvorrichtungen mit Matrix-Druckköpfen haben mindestens einen Zeichengenerator, in dem eine Vielzahl von Schriftarten und Bezeichnungen abgespeichert ist. Bei bekannten Vorrichtungen werden aus dem Zeichengenerator Zeichenpunktemuster gemäß den über eine Tastatur bzw. eine Schnittstelle erzeugten Zeichen­ codedaten über einen Mikroprozessor abgerufen und über eine Drucksteuereinrichtung dem Druckkopf zur Erzeugung von Schriften zugeführt. Da die Zeichenaufbereitung in einem von dem Zeichen­ generator getrennt angeordneten Mikroprozessor erfolgt, sind viele Leitungen erforderlich. Außerdem ist der Mikroprozessor ziemlich belastet, da über diesen auch alle anderen Funktionen wie z. B. Wagenantrieb, Papiertransport, Farbbandantrieb usw. gesteuert werden. Erfindungsgemäß werden die Leistungsfähigkeit und die Zuverlässigkeit der Druckvorrichtungen mit einem Matrix-Druckkopf dadurch erhöht, daß der Zeichengenerator (10, 16) einen eigenen Mikroprozessor (18, 19) enthält. Da die Auf­ bereitung der Zeichenmatrix direkt in dem Zeichengenerator er­ folgt, können die Ansteuerimpulse direkt von diesem zu dem Matrix-Druckkopf (12) gegeben werden. Der sogenannte intelligente Zeichengenerator (10, 16) erfordert nur wenige Leitungen und entlastet die Zentralsteuereinheit derart, daß die Leistungs­ fähigkeit und die Zuverlässigkeit der Maschine erhöht werden. Außerdem ermöglichen die als auswechselbare Fonts ausgebildeten Zeichengeneratoren (10, 16) keine Festlegung auf eine bestimmte Speichergröße und/oder auf einen bestimmten Mikroprozessor und/oder auf ein bestimmtes Optimierungs- bzw.
