Definitions

  • the contact member then produced by cutting and folding, has an S-shaped structure.
  • these lips are each connected respectively to the shells to which they belong by a constriction, which, radially affecting one and the other of these shells, leads to a reduction in their spacing relative, and, on the other hand, at the free end of the floating shell, they are jointly bevelled at an angle, by a chamfer, counting from the base of this constriction.
  • the two elements E, E ′ constituting the contact member 11 are each respectively leaning against one another by a flange 20 extending on either side of the 'axis A.
  • the two lips L1, L2 which it comprises for the definition of a slot F each belong respectively to two shells C1, C2, which each generally form at least one portion of cylinder, and one of which at least, said here for simple convenience floating shell, extends circularly in overhang from a root generator and is thus elastically deformable radially around the latter.
  • the height H of the floating shell C2 decreases steadily from its root generatrix G to its free end 21.
  • the floating shell C2 also has, at its free end 21, a height H1 which is not zero.
  • the fold line materializing this root generator G only extends over a part or portion H2 of the height thereof, the floating shell C2 then extending in overhang, at a height H3 , beyond this fold line, on the side of the lip L2.
  • the associated shell C1 extends, for its part, over 180 °, being in practice formed by a simple half-wave deformation of the median zone of the flange 20.
  • a tongue 26 which, once suitably deformed, projects radially into this tubular socket 25, and which is elastically deformable.
  • the shells C1 are each affected, transversely, in alignment with one another, for the passage of any tool during the production and assembly of the assembly , a pilot hole 27.
  • these constrictions 29 are axially each substantially in a quarter of a circle.
  • the lips L1, L2 extend in a substantially cylindrical manner beyond these constrictions 29.
  • FIGS. 9 and 10 It also follows, as illustrated in particular by FIGS. 9 and 10, that they have, firstly, in this slot F, in the input V 31 thereof corresponding to the chamfer 30, an edge 32 , FIG. 9, before presenting there, parallel to the axis of the assembly, FIG. 10, beyond this input V 31, a cylindrical surface 33.
  • the edge of these lips L1, L2 is tilted inwards, relative to the axis A of the assembly, along the chamfer 30, and therefore in the V d 'entry 31.
  • this section may as well be at any straight point, substantially perpendicular to the axis A, both along the chamfer 30 and beyond it.
  • the free edge of the lips L1, L2 of a slot of the contact member 11 according to the invention is then straight, extending in a plane transverse to this axis A.
  • these lips L1, L2 extend, axially, by a cylindrical surface 33, beyond the neck 29 which connects them to the shells C1, C2 to which they belong.
  • tongues 36 adapted to allow any connection to be made transversely to any electrical conductor.
  • the barrel 12 comprises, for its part, a head 37, which is suitable for its rotation control, and a barrel 38 by which it is engaged in rotation in the housing 16 of the housing 10, coming to bear, by a transverse shoulder 39, on the outer face thereof.
  • the head 37 which is separated, laterally, from the barrel 38, by notches 40, has, in particular, diametrically, on the surface, parallel to these notches 40, between them, an elongated groove 41.
  • this diametrical groove 41 extends radially, at its ends, by means of ears 42, which can also be used for this rotary control.
  • the head 37 of the barrel 12 also has a cross with this groove 41, at right, each respectively, notches 40, two notches 43.
  • the barrel 12 has a bore 44 giving access to the tubular socket 25 formed by the contact member 11.
  • the contact member 11 comprising, as described above, two slots F
  • the barrel 12 comprises, parallel to one another, two holes 45, which, arranged in diametrically opposite positions relative to each other to the other, each extend respectively on either side of the groove 41 of its head 37, crosswise therewith, and the thin wall 46 which extends it also includes, in correspondence, two recesses 47 .
  • the barrel 12 finally comprises, axially, in a manner known per se, beyond its thin wall 46, for each of its holes 45, an extension 48.
  • this extension 48 forms a tube section in alignment with the corresponding hole 45.
  • each of the tubular extensions 48 which the barrel 12 thus presents is in continuity with the thin wall 46 of the latter, locally forming a protrusion on this thin wall 46, both radially towards the inside with respect to the latter only radially outwards, everything happening as if this thin wall 46 were split locally to form these tubular extensions 48.
  • the wall delimiting such a tubular extension 48 is crescent, this wall having a thickness that is substantially zero along that of its generatrices which is radially innermost with respect to the thin wall 46.
  • each of the tubular extensions 48 is capable, by its external surface, of abutting, internally, the corresponding floating shell C2 of the contact member 11.
  • the floating shell C2 of each of the assemblies E, E ′ constituting the contact member 11 is, for example, and as shown in FIG. 4, the object of a prestress which results in that, for the rest configuration of the assembly, it is closer to the other shell C1 at its free end 21 than along its root generatrix G.
  • the corresponding lips L1, L2 are, for the rest configuration of the assembly, contiguous with each other at the tip of the V entry 31 that they form, then gradually deviating beyond it.
  • the contact member 11 is for example first introduced from below on a gauge, so as to open the two slots F which it has.
  • the barrel 12 is then presented axially to the right of this contact member 11, with its tubular extensions 48 each respectively to the right of the free spaces 24 existing between the free end 21 of its floating shells C2 and the corresponding flanges 20.
  • the barrel 12 is pivotally controlled by itself by a few degrees around the axis A of the assembly, its tubular extensions 48 then engaging circularly between the corresponding shells C1, C2 of the contact member 11, under the constrictions 29 by which these shells C1, C2 are connected to the lips L1, L2 which they form.
  • the gauge previously used is then removed, and the assembly formed by the contact member 11 and the barrel 12 is then placed in the housing 16 of the body of insulating material 10, by force engagement therein. up to a determined position, the barbs 35 of the contact member 11 then coming at the end of the race to anchor this assembly in the wall of this housing 16.
  • snap-fit means capable of systematically ensuring individual axial retention.
  • each floating shell C2 of the contact member 11 and the body of insulating material 10 at rest, at least, there remains, peripherally, between each floating shell C2 of the contact member 11 and the body of insulating material 10, and, more precisely, the inner wall of the housing 16 thereof, a set J.
  • abutment means or the like suitable for enabling the angular position of this barrel 12 to be identified for which its tubular extensions 48 extend in the free spaces 24 of the contact member 11, away from the corresponding slots F.
  • this electrical conductor 13 which then extends generally parallel to the axis of the assembly, by means of both the hole 45 in which it is engaged and the recess 47 corresponding to the thin wall 46 and the tubular extension 48 which follows it, is located away from the corresponding slot F of the contact member 11.
  • both of the lips L1, L2 defining the slot F concerned which, taking into account the general obliquity of these lips L1, L2 along this input V 31, on the one hand, leads these lips L1, L2 to attack, by their edge 32, the insulating sheath 15 of this electrical conductor 13, as shown in FIG. 18, until causing, due to their obliquity and the slope of their edge, a local displacement of this insulating sheath 15, as shown in FIG.
  • connection sought is then ensured.
  • the electrical conductor 13 can, if desired, be disconnected.
  • the self-stripping connector according to the invention can be used for the simple electrical connection of two electrical conductors each engaged respectively in the two holes 45 of its barrel 12.
  • the elastic deformation capacity of a floating shell C2 on which depends the contact pressure exerted on an electrical conductor 13 by the lips L1, L2 of a slot F at any point thereof, can advantageously be controlled by intervening accordingly on one or the other of the geometric parameters in question, and in particular on one or the other of the geometric parameters that constitute the heights H1, H2, H3 previously defined for such a floating shell C2.
  • the contact member 11 is produced so that, at rest, the floating shell C2 of its assemblies E, E ′ is not under prestressing, so that its slots F are then not closed, but on the contrary, open, on the side of its free spaces 24.
  • the catching up of the contact pressure at the level of the lips L1, L2 of these slots F is done in this case under the stress of an annular ring 52, which is engaged to do this around the contact member 11 on the floating shell C2 of the assemblies E, E ′, by means of a groove 53 provided annularly on the surface of such a floating shell C2, and which, in the absence of an electrical conductor, maintains said lips L1, L2 in pressure, either on the thin wall 46 of the barrel 12, with a clearance at the level of the tubular extensions 48 thereof, or on these tubular extensions 48, with, then, a clearance at the level of said thin wall 46.
  • the housing 16 of the body of insulating material 10 is stepped, to allow the engagement of the annular ring 52 in its enlarged upper part, and the barrel 38 of the barrel 12 is itself thickened accordingly, to ensure its support on said body of insulating material 10.
  • FIGS. 21 to 25 which relates to the single contact member 11, various modifications take place.
  • each floating shell C2 opposite its lip L2 is straight, extending in a transverse plane substantially perpendicular to the axis A of the assembly.
  • each slot F come directly from the corresponding shells C1, C2, without constriction thereof, and they extend obliquely with respect to each other over the entire length. of the slot F concerned, approaching each other as they move away from the shells C1, C2 from which they originate.
  • At least one of the shells C1, C2 extends downward, that is to say in the direction opposite to the lips L1, L2, by a connection lug 55, affected, axially, in its middle part, of a slot 56 open downwards.
  • this slot 56 has, locally, a bloom 57, of circular outline, and, as from this, its lips move apart from one another in the direction of its outlet, in therefore jointly forming a large input V 58.
  • connection tab 55 extends downwards by a connection tab 55, and, from one connection tab 55 to the other, the slots 56 are in look at each other, in diametrically opposite positions with respect to each other, with their openings 57 arranged at the same level.
  • connection tabs 55 advantageously allow the connection, to the contact member 11, of an electrically conductor 60 suitably stripped, possibly by simple snap-fastening thereon.
  • This electrical conductor 60 then extends diametrically from one of the floating shells C2 to the other, below the tabs 26.
  • connection of the electrical conductor 60 thus involving two contact areas instead of one, it is advantageously safer.
  • connection foot 62 In the alternative embodiment illustrated by FIGS. 26 to 29, instead of the preceding connection lugs 55, one of the floating shells C1, C2 is extended downwards by a connection foot 62.
  • connection leg 62 has transversely a U-shaped section, with its concavity turned towards the axis A of the assembly, and only a shell C1, C2 is thus extended downwards by such a connection leg 62.
