Description

The present invention relates to a connection terminal, electrically insulated, allowing the connection, between them, of several electric cables of large sections, identical or different, entering on the same side, each cable being blocked individually in an individual housing by a screw. , said housings being superimposed vertically.

This terminal can be used for all electrical connections, and mainly in the case where it is necessary to block each cable individually (cables of different sections) and where the cables all arrive on the same side.

  • soit les bornes classiques, permettant de bloquer des câbles de même section, dans un seul et même logement ;
There are a large number of connection terminals on the market, mainly of two types:
  • either conventional terminals, making it possible to block cables of the same section, in a single housing;
  • either the terminal blocks, where the cables are locked individually in their housing, either opposite or side by side, but not superimposed on the same side.

Among the known connection terminals, mention may be made of that described in document US Pat. No. 3,725,851, which consists of two blocks metallic interconnected by a narrow central portion also metallic, one of these blocks having a large diameter orifice for the passage of a conductor of large section, while the other comprises a plurality of holes intended to accommodate conductors small diameter.

The terminal object of the present invention makes it possible to facilitate cable connections, which are difficult to achieve with existing terminals, mainly for specific cabling, when the terminals are placed in boxes, boxes or cabinets receiving cables of large different sections, arriving and starting on the same side in a limited space.

The terminal according to the invention has for this purpose the characteristics appearing in the characterizing part of claim 1.

The appended drawing, given by way of nonlimiting example, will make it possible to better understand the characteristics of the invention and the advantages which it is likely to provide.

Figure 2 is a section along II-II (Figure 1), illustrating the positioning of the screws and cables.

Figure 3 shows the main part and its screws, before it fits into the two shells of the insulating envelope.

Figure 4 is a perspective view of the completed connection terminal, ready for use.

Figure 5 is a section along V - V (Figure 4), illustrating the mode of presentation of cables, for their connection.

Figure 6 est une vue équivalente , après branchement.Figure 6 is an equivalent view, after connection.

The terminal, object of the present invention, consists of a main part, in copper or brass, a set of main screws 2, and a plastic casing 3.

  • d'une part ,à recevoir les perçages 4 , pour le logement des câbles 8 , ainsi que les perçages correspondants 5 , taraudés pour les vis 2 ;
The main part 1, made of copper or brass, has the general shape of a rectangular parallelepiped 1. She is destined :
  • on the one hand, to receive the holes 4, for housing the cables 8, as well as the corresponding holes 5, tapped for the screws 2;
  • on the other hand, thanks to the natural conductivity of copper or brass, to ensure the electrical connection of all of the cables 8 between them.

On one of the small vertical faces 9 of the parallelepiped block are drilled as many horizontal holes 4 as desired cable housings (from two to four, in general; three in the example illustrated). These holes 4 have increasing depths from top to bottom. These holes 4 have a diameter corresponding to the diameter imposed by the standards, as a function of the type of cable 8 used, and more particularly of its stripped end 13.

On the small horizontal adjacent face 7 are tapped as many vertical holes 5 as horizontal holes 4 for the cables 8. These tapped holes 5 each receive a grub screw 2, of diameter and length corresponding to the hole. The horizontal 4 and vertical 5 holes are of increasing depths, in stair steps, so that each vertical tapped hole 5 is in communication with only one horizontal cable housing bore 4 (Figure 2).

In normal use, the stripped cables 8 are threaded into each horizontal hole 4 and locked by the screw 2 housed in the corresponding vertical threaded hole 5.

On the small opposite vertical face 9, one or more horizontal holes 14 can be provided, the diameter 15 of which, provided to receive the stripped end 16 of a cable 17, may be different from the diameter 18 of the holes 4. Each cable 17 can be, for example, a branch wire.

In this bore 14 opens orthogonally, a threaded hole 19 provided for receiving a grub screw 20.

The threaded holes 19 open on the same face 21 as the holes 5 (FIG. 2).

L'enveloppe isolante 3 est formée par assemblage de deux coquilles 22 et 23 en matière plastique ( figure 3) .The insulating envelope 3 is formed by assembling two shells 22 and 23 made of plastic material (FIG. 3).

  • des ergots mâles 24 , faisant saillie hors du plan de joint de la coquille 22 ;
Positioning means are provided, for example:
  • male pins 24, projecting out of the joint plane of the shell 22;
  • holes 25, placed in correspondence around the joint plane of the shell 23.

Thus, after installation, the screws 2, 20, each in its tapped hole 5, 19, the main metal part 1 is fitted between the two insulating shells 22, 23. These are embedded one inside the other, by the lugs 24 and the holes 25 which position them with precision, then they are definitively assembled together by gluing, by ultrasonic welding, or by any other known method.

Cela empêche qu'elle soit perdue par inadvertance .It is important to note that the diameter 26 of each hole 27 of the casing 3 is less than the diameter 29 of the corresponding screw 2. Similarly, the hole 3o, located opposite the screw 20, has a diameter 31 smaller than the diameter 32 of this screw 20. Thus, on the completed terminal (Figures 4 to 6), it is impossible to extract a screw 2, 20, by unscrewing it completely. This prevents it from being lost inadvertently.

L'enveloppe plastique 3 joue un triple rôle :

  • isolation électrique de l'ensemble de la borne , selon les normes en vigueur ;
  • accrochage de l'ensemble de la borne sur rail Din standard , symétrique ou assymétrique, par des reliefs profilés 12 prévus à cet effet ;
The plastic envelope 3 plays a triple role:
  • electrical insulation of the entire terminal, according to the standards in force;
  • attachment of the entire terminal on standard DIN rail, symmetrical or asymmetrical, by profiled reliefs 12 provided for this purpose;
  • retention of the upper screws: the holes 27 for access to the screws 2 are of a diameter slightly less than the diameter of the screws, preventing the latter from leaving the plastic casing.
